FYI: When painting a design in light colors, like white and pastels, you could paint the first layer in black or another dark color. Then you would probably need only 1 layer of the white. It's a trick used by decorative painters. The dark foundation makes the first layer of the light colors appear brighter. Love the designs on this bowl!

Can you do a video comparison with diy clay to DAS for imprinting leaves and which is better? I've been wanting to paint a pigment type ink in the creases of the leaf, then sanding after the smooth edges and then sealing the trinket bowl. I think your coloured clay may work well. There are two video ideas for you. I cannot find any videos showing that technique. Also wonder about how you would glue say a bottom ring of clay to stabilize the bowl... :). Great videos! thanks!
@RedRockingBird3 жыл бұрын
Your leaf imprinting one sounds good this clay imprints well but you'd have to test it out to get the desired effect you are after. Yes to join this clay you would need to glue it together, I would use the white glue used in the ingredients. Thanks, it's all such fun and I love to experiment, lots more to come too.

When you've mixed the paint into the clay, is it possible to mix two different colors to create an effect (e.g. marbling or blending) the way you can with polymer clay? Or does the paint stay messy until the clay dries, preventing a clean blend between two different colors of clay?
@leyalaatasto90963 жыл бұрын
Yep, absolutely! I suggest you mix with a little less force than you would with polymer clay. Make sure to clean your hands in between mixing the individual colours into your clay :)
@RedRockingBird3 жыл бұрын
Yes make 2 separate colours, so colours are fully incorporated then roll and marble the 2 blocks of coloured dough together and marble to your desired effect. Thank you
@TheSongwritingCat3 жыл бұрын
OK! Thank you. I'll try to do some tests. Do you think it would help to let the dyed clay rest in a sealed plastic bag before trying to mix the colors? I'm scared of making mess if, for example, I try to mix pink and green or I try to marble by twisting 4-5 colors together.
@RedRockingBird3 жыл бұрын
@@TheSongwritingCat I don't think you need to let the colours rest, but I would choose 2 harmonising colours, as pink and green mixed together would make brown. I'd do something like pink and purple, or yellow and red, but that's up to you. If you make my recipe just make sure you don't let it over heat and beat hard between heating. ❤️
