Just out of curiosity that one part looks like it's from an old lawn mower/tiller engine, looks kind of like a condenser from the "points" ignition system of the old briggs motors. Usually its just the points and condenser behind the flywheel and that goes right to the magneto. So do the points tell the engine when to fire the spark and the magneto generates it then sends it to the plug? Almost seems like a simpler set up, I'd like to see you take and do one with the older parts from a Briggs & Stratton engine just to see if it could be simplified! I have so many old spare magnetos lying around I could probably make a laser gun or something lol!
