I like this variation on a theme die because it doesn't require machining to make it work properly, just normal shop tools. The push plate will need to be different from machine to machine, but that's small potatoes. Thank You, JD

All this time and u don’t even show us tha it can me a bend or not. My guess is it’s a dingy, scratchy, lumpy type bend bit semi smooth more like a mandrill. Not talking shit it’s just I’ve made a few dies now, I understand what’s involved.

the plates looks quite thick, are you sure they are 5 millimeters?
@XanderKirsten4 жыл бұрын
Yeah they were 5mm . But using something thats thicker wouldnt hurt. The 5 mm worked fine but after a long time it does slightly start to buckle out
@OversteerEngineer4 жыл бұрын
@@XanderKirsten Okay. I have 8mm plate but i want to bend 38mm tube with 2mm Wall thickness. Do you think the plates are gonna bend? Im also thinking about filling the die with epoxy or concrete to make it a bit more stiff. Adding big washers to the outsides might also be a Good idea
@XanderKirsten4 жыл бұрын
@@OversteerEngineer i believe 8mm plate should do just fine. Big washers are a good idea aswell. I did my testing woth 25mm tube also 2mm thick . I dont think concrete or epoxy is necessary. One thing that i also recommend is making the rod that holds the die quite a bit thicker as mine kept bending

u can buy those at yard sales and flea markets for $5-10 less than that camera you used to film this video... they are so abundantly available why bother? if u made a bender for large diameter pipe that would be more valuable IMO. U did good though. Good fab skills. One day u moght be an engineer or great inventor
@jarodmorris6115 жыл бұрын
So abundantly available? Lol

Not for cheap, you must live in a gold mine because know one near me has ever had a tubing bender at a yard sale
