I am good with electronics and programming. I could take what you have there and turn it into a pretty useful dyno.

Great job. A couple suggestions. I would get rid of the clutch and go with a belt you can lock tight by lever and tensioner. That will be more precise. Also, you might consider setting the fluid to a baseline resistance, and then using a flow sensor to turn flow into a voltage which can then be used in a formula to determine actual power.

Great video, I am running my Honda clone on high performance cdi ignition system. You can adjust base timing and you have a preset by rpm 20° of full variable advantage . Also the spark duration changes a bit for more performances at higher rpm. I need to dyno my units I have made. Prototype stage but it's a direct stock bolt on with jet and intake kit. I have a channel if you want to come take a look. Cheers

I plan to use just such a system to regulate speed on a commercial rail Pedal cart. A kind of "Anti Runaway Brake. I considered a centrifugal clutch as the load, but they are too imprecise and fallible. As a Heli Engineer, this system makes sense. its gonna take some testing to find the right ratios, but hey, that's RnD. I KNEW there had to be a video...haha I wish I could put pedal assist e bike guts on it and use the regen braking, but that would be a powered vehicle and put the cart in another bracket entirely.

Caution, FWIW, the pump's input shaft only has sleeve bearings. Those aluminum pumps are made for in line or face to face driving using a spider coupling. No chain. Aluminum pumps aren't made for side or what's known in the trade as an overhung load, such as your setup. www.hydraulicspneumatics.com/technologies/hydraulic-pumps-motors/article/21883204/dealing-with-overhung-load www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulics/Hydraulic-Pump-Mounts/Overhung-Load-Adapters/ A portion of the pressure the pump develops will be transferred to side loading it's input shaft because of the pull of the chain by the engine. A lot of use will wear the sleeves and seals out and start to leak in time and the gears inside will start to gall the housing putting metal shavings into the oil because of the close clearances. Side or overhung loaded pumps are available but expensive since they use hydraulically sealed radial ball bearings and accommodation of a drain port. I'd recommend to unload the input shaft and spending the 40 or 50 bucks and turn your pump to face the motor and install a spider coupling or an overhung load adapter. Just my 0.02. Be safe !
@bernesesennenhund93644 жыл бұрын
... Also you could also move the pump back and use a jack shaft arrangement supported by 2 pillow blocks, your sprocket on the input end and a spider coupling on the other driving the pump. This would allow you to use different engines and unload the pump input shaft. I've also seen creatively engineered setups using CV joints from the front ends of cars or ATV's as a flexible way to hook up different motors.

Interested in helping my husband build one. I'm unfamiliar with the parts you use so trying to keep up by writing them is difficult. Anyway you could reply with an exact supply list or does anyone here have a supply list??

Not the chain stretching, its the clutch slipping. Your applying more torque than the clutch is creating in drag.

What is the HP you can Dyno with it? Singles go up to about 676cc today.
@megoingfast4 жыл бұрын
Just above 20 with that pump. Different pumps that can go higher rpm can go higher power but it gets more expensive by a couple hundred dollars or more.

I have an irrational fear of bees and talking to my neighbors. If I see a bee or neighbor, I close the visor. Problem is I don't know what to do if I get a bee in the helmet with the visor down. Works wonders for neighbors asking questions like why did you put cannons on your go kart or a catapult, or an engine on your wheelbarrow, though!
