The apples and cinnamon are a great hack for traveling and as a snack at work. The apples remain crisp and do not turn black. On our last trip I sprinkled peanut butter on top and it was very tasty. Thank you for the great hack!

I will do better when traveling. Great ideas, I like that you take the time to make a few items. We live off of fries on travel days 😂 until we get to where we're going. I love that you find items like those chips for your kids to enjoy when you know they'll see others eating in the airport. This is one of the toughest things for us being vegan is the kids feeling like they're missing out and sometimes leads to us letting them have non vegan stuff at times. Moderation I say.

Fries work too! And my kiddos aren’t fully vegan/plant based but I still try to think through plant based snacks they’ll like and actually eat!

It wasn’t always our plan to live here but my husband and I work on line, love to travel and love Asia. We’ve lived in China and Thailand too for a short time. We were looking for out next place to settle down and had some friends in KL, malaysia. When we visited we fell in love and now we’re here! Malaysia is a super easy place to live as it’s really developed and people speak English and it’s easy to travel in and out of. Oh and it’s cheap!

I just did same thing! Glad I’m not the only one. Took muffins, bars, nuts, chips and dried fruit. Also bread and peanut and almond butter packets from Justin’s. I had muffins for breakfast on plane and peanut butter sandwich for lunch. I think it saved some cash, plus I would not have had time to buy lunch. I did not know that one can bring food on flights until this year.

As a vegan, do you think you would introduce non vegan foods if your child had nut/coconut/soy allergies? Just curious, I’m navigating some big unexpected major allergies for my son and I’ll be introducing food soon.
@TheConscientiousEater2 жыл бұрын
I’d actually say I’m plant based and my husband and kids aren’t! So they eat whatever. They eat mostly plant based because they can’t cook and I make all the food decisions, but sometimes they have eggs at home or meat when eating out. I thought my kids would be fully plant based, but after living with meat eating relatives for over a year and my kids constantly seeing people they love and trust eat meat, I’ve decided to let them make that decision when they want/are older. My 4 year old knows I don’t eat meat, but she still loves it. And my 2 year old is so picky and at the bottom of the weight average so I just try to get him to eat whatever!

Hi Faith, I love your recipes and your balanced point of view in general. I find it really refreshing. However, I would suggest some sort of disclaimer to your audience when you talk about offering whole nuts to your young children. Obviously you know them and their eating capabilities best, but the general recommendation is to not introduce whole nuts to kids under the age of 4 because of the choking risks.
@TheConscientiousEater2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! And thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it is only my daughter who has whole nuts so that would have been good to clarify. My son either has nuts that have been blended into granola bars or eats nut butter. I’ll try to clarify that next time for sure!
