I love the way you think. You are not afraid to use ready-made items like minced garlic, or Parmesan cheese in the container. I know many cooks that are snobbish, lack of a better word, about their cooking. Cooking should be fun and easy and you make it fun and easy. Thank you so much to you and your beautiful wife who I have not seen yet. also I love the way that you include your wife and speak so kindly to her. It says a lot for you both.

I use an adaptation of my late husband's mother's recipe which she wrote for us on a card in a box of recipies that she gave us when we got married. One difference is the 10 ounces of thawed chopped spinach, squeezed as dry as possible, mixed into the ricotta, or cottage cheese instead of the parsley you used. This was one of my late husband's favorites and became one of mine as well, my my second husband loves it too so I still make it occasionally, in fact I should make it again, thanks for reminding me 🙂

If you rinse all the cans with water you won’t be wasting what’s left in the can plus it will help with the simmering of your sauce and the water will dissipate and your sauce will still be thick. It also helps the sauce not stick and burn on the bottom. … My friend made it once for a girl’s day gathering. She didn’t have a recipe but told how she made it. I took what she explained and made it my own way. Everyone requests my Lasagna. 💕🙏🙏. I do add one brown sugar to my sauce as it cooks. Like you stated, tomato anything needs a bit of sugar to cut the acidity of all the tomatoes in the sauce ❤

@@comesitatmytable9044I never put water into anything, or virtually never. Flavourless, and you always want to add flavour not dilute it with water. I use a bit of red wine or chicken broth. Much better, you won’t taste the wine, not as wine, but it does add another layer of flavour, same with broth if you prefer that. I do concur, you might need a bit of some sort of sugar to balance the acidity of the tomatoes. Depends on what tomatoes you’re using. Most of mine are home grown and canned, if it’s my Romas I usually don’t need much but regular varieties do.
@jill7759 Жыл бұрын
I forgot, I don’t use raw onions either, if you cook them off properly beforehand they will be quite sweet and much better for the final product and also help to balance that acidity.😊

Robin, my oldest sister, taught me how to make lasagna; we would let our meat sauce cook all day, until the spoon could stand in the center of the pot by itself. We only partially cooked the noodles, and would get the giggles trying to get them to lay flat. Used ricotta cheese, of course, as that was the directions on the lasagna noodle box. The recipes on the box have since changed, but it used to be top notch. Make a good salad while it baked, and after an hour supper was ready. Such a good memory, thanks for asking who taught us to make lasagna!❤❤

New to the channel. I love Tom and Melissa! They’re the type of people you feel like you’ve known your whole life! I had the luxury of growing up with my best friend being Italian, his mother an actual immigrant from Italy. Gets even better, my friend’s grandmother while we were in college moved to the USA as well. Sneaking over to their house around dinner time was a 4 or 5 week occurrence. The grandmother had a pot of tomato sauce on the back of the stove that never got turned off, just more ingredients added. Tomatoes, garlic, chicken, steak, ground beef, basil, etc. So if there was ever a hungry kid, or adult, grab some pasta, a ladle of sauce and boom, a snack or a meal. Linguine with red clam sauce was my favorite. Out of all the times (1000’s) I ate at their house, not once was lasagna made. Not sure if that was because lasagna want native to their region of Italy, but after all these years I’ve never attempted to make it… and I’m 50! So thank you for the recipe! I don’t know what Tom does for a living, but if he weren’t a high school coach in some sport, he missed his calling. I feel like if I screw this up with all the excellent directions, Tom is gonna make me run laps. Thanks again for putting this together. I see a couple of these being made for the next UGA Tailgate.

Hello Tom and Melissa….I have taken notes of your lovely recipe to keep and try out day but I have made my own family lasagna for over 35 years now, self taught from a basic recipe on a dry pasta box adding my own touch, but I make my own cheese sauce from scratch, equal amounts of 2 tablespoons unsalted melted butter and 2 tablespoons Plain flour to make a roux then cook for 2 minutes, before adding 3 cups hot whole milk .. a cup at a time, 1 cup tasty grated cheese, 1 cup grated mozarella cheese, let them melt in, then add a little Garlic salt and a little freshly grated nutmeg, it makes for a lovely lasagna! i also grate a very little amount of nutmeg on top before cooking. I also don’t preboil my lasagna sheets, like you. 🥰

I only make lasagna once or twice a year. When I do, I found some shortcuts that work well for me. I had to modify what I was doing previously when it became too difficult to get things in/out of my oven. It makes a lot, but it freezes well. First, I use regular noodles, but I don't cook them ahead. I just break them up so I can stir it easier, because I cook it in a soup pot on the stovetop rather than in the oven. I use store bought spaghetti sauce, so I don't add the spices, except for parsley. I simmer it on low until the noodles are done then add cheese and continue cooking until that melts. But I like the recipe you demonstrated, and I might have to see if I can try it this way. Thanks for a great video!

My mother-in-law taught me how and I have come to find out I like to use the Italian blend shredded cheese that Walmart sales. It has mozzarella, provolone, Parmesan, and Romano cheeses in the shredded mixture.

Tom & Melissa, I am one of your new subscribers, & I have to say I am truly enjoying your channel. Found you all in my rotation. Growing up, we never made lasagna for some odd reason. I tried to make it in my 30s, but couldn't get the sauce tasting right. Now I am 59, & I have begun experimenting w/different recipes. I do it in small batches, such as 8×5, as to avoid waste. Looking forward to trying your recipe soon. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. God bless.

I have never attempted making lasagna and all of my 62 years I’ve always gone to certain restaurants to get the lasagna that I really enjoy but I watch this video so I thought I would try it because my birthday is Monday, January 1. Today is December 29 And my wife and I tried your recipe and I have to tell you it is simply amazing. It made so much of a batch that we had to put it into another container. So now we have two lasagnas to freeze for future dinners. Thank you so much I advise anyone to try this it’s easy it just a little time-consuming putting together, thank you so much

I will definitely try this recipe. My husband has dementia but used to make lasagna for me. Our first date he made me lasagna. Melissa you got together with your scrapbooking group in this day. I wondered if you also make greeting cards. I made cards but haven’t met anyone yet that also does.

I’ve been making cooking for my husband 55 years. I love to fix things like lasagna that take awhile to fix! This is a wonderful recipe. I have never used pasta that doesn’t need to be boiled. I’m afraid it would turn out. Your’s looks amazing and I’m going to give it a go. You haven’t failed me yet. It sure will be easier. Thank you. 😋

Looks so good. I'm binge-watching today. My mom taught me to make lasagna but I made up my own sauce recipe. She browned 'burger and poured in a can of Prego. Lol

Well, this did it. Just made my grocery list and I’m making lasagna tonight. Praying I can wait until tomorrow or Sunday to cook it. I may have to do a single serving pan. I’m not sure how I happened upon your channel recently, but I consider it a blessing that I did. Love your videos…and all of your recipes are my kind of food. God Bless Y’all!

While my mother made excellent lasagna, she never taught me how to do it. However, when my oldest son was in the 3rd trade, they made us a class cookbook with adorable covers made by our child. They had your recipe in that book. My son was so proud and wanted to make the lasagna. We did, it was a treat and every year we make several pans for the freezer. Great recipe!!😊
