Patty my name is Joel Ovando. August of last year I buried my aunt who died of lung cancer, mind you, she never smoked and took care of her health religiously because her religion called for it. who knows what she was breathing that caused her cancer. two days ago my friend Dee passed away from ovarian cancer they know exactly what caused it. It was Johnson & Johnson shower to shower talc , sadly still on the shelves and being sold. It angers me that our countrys' institutions the FDA being one of them are nothing short of harlots who sell themselves. You mentioned how other countries have banned many harmful chemicals in foods I know that first I visited Europe recently and I noticed their Skittles were very dull in color. Reason being artificial colors are banned over there, their colors have to come from natural sources. Olestra is also band over there. Genetically Modified foods are also banned. corn syrup and artificial sweeteners were also banned in many places. What's wrong with us? And forget us where old already. Our kids! All those harmful dyes in the children's food in their cereals! Kraft macaroni and cheese even has dyes the number 7 dye the one that's most harmful. My biggest fear is learning soon that the reason behind all this autism in our kids will be something we all batted a blind eye and deaf ear to. God help us. Thanks again for this! I'm making it this weekend! I'm excited! Keep sharing your truth Patty people are listening

Thank you, I have been using my homemade laundry detergent since Oct of 2016.And iIt makes me angry also that the FDA [which I thought was for our protection] is nothing but a corrupt agency that sold their soul to the devil (so to speak). I wanted to point out that it is "high fruitous corn syrup" that is the killer. It's name suggests otherwise but it is basically a chemical not a food. It's all about the corn industry here in the US... we don't grow sugar cane well. And don't ever buy Agave as a sweetener, it's nothing more then High fruitous corn syrup masquerading as a health food. If you want to read more: drhyman.com/blog/2011/05/13/5-reasons-high-fructose-corn-syrup-will-kill-you/ Take care and God bless!🤗✝🕊💕

have you been able to use this soap in cold water laundry??? does it dissolve? or do you have to use liquid.
@PattiRoseLifeHappens6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be used in cold water if you dissolve it first in hot water. What I do is turn the setting to hot water and add the soap. Once there is about a half an inch of water at the bottom of the washer; then I turn the setting back to cold water and swish it around with my hand to make sure it's dispensed throughout and not clumped up... then I add my clothes. Hope this helped. I don't use anything else... Except in the summer months I still have to grate up some Fels-naptha to add to it because I'm highly allergic to poison ivy, and this soap works well for that. God bless. 🤗💗🌼
@grandmasewhappyhomestead1876 жыл бұрын
thank you that is what I was wondering....why do you add fels naptha to the laundry in the summer?? does it clean off poison ivy in clothes?? If so that is amazing. I remember years ago someone told me that scouts bring Fels Naptha on camping trips in case of that reason to combat poison ivy.
@PattiRoseLifeHappens6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it removes the oil that reacts to our skin that causes the rash. I've even used it in the shower instead of a regular bar of soap to make sure there is no traces of poison ivy on me if I've been walking through trails in the forest. But if you do need to use it on your skin be sure to rinse extra well and then use a good moisturizer or Aloe Vera or something because it will dry out your skin. The only other alternative is to use Clorox and that will ruin your colored clothes.
@grandmasewhappyhomestead1876 жыл бұрын
Patti Rose Life Happens thank you I'm going to keep this in mind. I have a friend that has an old barn that's falling down and I want my daughter to get some of the old wood but it's in Weeds and I was trying to figure out a way that we could do it and avoid poison ivy issues. What about Epsom salts for liquid fabric softener? I've been looking for a good recipe for liquid fabric softener that I can add to the center of my washer.
@PattiRoseLifeHappens6 жыл бұрын
I use ordinary white vinegar because it is a natural fabric softener. ... A half-cup of white vinegar when added to the final rinse, will soften fabrics and leave no residue at all. FYI: Epson salt is loaded with magnesium and magnesium will begin to yellow your whites and dull your colors. Maybe adding some essential oils to some course salt (dissolved in warm water), after all salt is used in water softeners. Hope this helps, but I've never used it. 😊💕🕊

@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt this is interesting why does Epsom salts soften water then for water softening systems? It's just not okay for clothes?
@PattiRoseLifeHappens6 жыл бұрын
They use Salt not Epsom salt in water softening systems... Epson salt is loaded with magnesium and magnesium is why we had to get a water soften system when we moved here. The magnesium turned everything a dull yellow color even the inside of our dishwasher and Epsom salt will do the same to your clothes. Epsom salt is used to soak in the tub for sore muscles and for those deficient in magnesium.

Theresa, If soap is made properly there is no lye. When you make soap you mix lye with different butters and oils. Once they are mixed and go through SAPONIFICATION ( A 4 to 6 week curing time) It's no longer lye or oil. They go through a molecular change and become soap. The issue with so many commercially made soaps is the additives they put in. Always read the labels. If you see ingredients they you have neve heard of or can't pronounce, don't buy it. My daughter had very sensitive skin and I make all of her soaps, lotions and anything that touches her body. She hasn't had an issue since.

I know everyone has to make a decision for their family. Your recipe sounds amazing. I am concerned about the borax. I read that borax is toxic. What is an alternative??
@PattiRoseLifeHappens Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation on the internet. You see, borax is considered a green product. Borax is a natural mineral called sodium borate. It is a crystal-like substance called sodium tetraborate and a mixture of oxygen, sodium, and boron. Which makes borax high alkaline and that enables it to be remarkably effective at removing stains, and freshen and sanitize your laundry and even help soften hard water. Borax is a way to ditch the harmful chemicals and switch to an all-natural laundry detergent. Most commercially sold laundry detergents have borax in them. However, Borax should only be used in laundry - and never to be used as a way to clean the kitchen or countertops, or to clean the bathroom, or children’s toys, and such, because it is toxic if ingested, or absorbed by direct contact through the skin. As with any household product, it should be kept away from the reach of children. I hope this helps, but if you still prefer not to use borax, just eliminate it. You don’t have to use it. Thanks for watching and commenting. God bless.😊💕✝

I used this recipe for about 3 months years ago at first I liked it then after a while of using it all my clothes started looking dengy and not clean looking. I quit using this recipe and switched to another KZbin recipe and so far so good. I do not mean to cut down your recipe, it did not work for me. It might be good for someone else’s way of living but not mine. Thank you for the video, excellent video
@PattiRoseLifeHappens4 жыл бұрын
I hope you were dissolving the laundry soap in hot water first. If you were and your clothes were dingy it could be you have hard water problems. If you start having problems with the recipe you are currently using try adding salt. Hard water needs salt to help break down the mineral deposits that can build up on your clothes. But NOT Epson salt, that has minerals in it. Also a white vinegar rinse can help.

No, don't use the Borax for baby clothes. The rest of the recipe will still work well.

Could you clarify the amount of borax you use in your recipe? In the other ingredients you show the number of cups but for the borax you just say "1 box" but don't say what size box you use or how many cups that equates to. Thanks.

Patti Rose, I am earnestly making the soap this morning as my 'Saturday project'. I just had a discovery! I was going to start grating bar soap as usual, but was thinking 'what if' I just chop up bars into chunks and put into small chopper to save having to grate all the soap bars. Well, I started to cut an 1/8th of the bar with serrated large knife I chose, it slipped off and wah lah! If you go at 'slicing soap bars at a 45 degree angle, it shaves and grates at same time! So easy, no grating involved! at all! Wow!

YES! lol, They always remain our babies! I go through the same thing. We just can't 'feel' we are past all the memories from them as they grew up. I love being a grandparent more than a parent. Old enough and experienced enough to not take life so serious, and no more learning on the fly like we did when our own children were young. I love being a grandparent so much more! Have learned to take it so easy and light now. I am glad the ceremony went well, was it outside? This was your Eagle Scout right? I'm even proud of him!

Do you happen to remember what size bar your Castile soap was? My daughter's at Walmart now buying me some so I can make some laundry soap as I'm almost out and she was saying they carry three bars of Castile soap for 3.50 at Walmart. Wondering if that's too small of a size?? Also I'm assuming this soap is good for HE washing machines?

That's fine, lots of leeway in making this, but I do not know about HE washers, sorry. God bless!

One of your best video's, thank you for such good information maybe we should all be doing more research on things we are making using products we think are safe. Thank you for teaching me something new today. God Bless What do you know about using Ivory bar soap?
@PattiRoseLifeHappens7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I was worried because of the length of the video. As for Ivory soap, the ingredients are fine but it does have fragrance; which may not be a problem except that we don't know what that fragrance is. I used Ivory soap for years, it was the only soap I used when my kids were little. Not all fragrance is bad, we just are not given the info to make an informed decision. Thanks again for your encouraging words!🤗💖

I have to share with you my daughter was sharing with her friend and her mother at church about how I make homemade laundry soap and now they want to learn as well so I say thank you and I'm going to be referring them to your Channel. Do you order your Castile soap online? Or did you buy in the store
@PattiRoseLifeHappens7 жыл бұрын
I buy the Kirk's Castile soap at Walmart, The Dr Bronner's castile soap I get on Amazon but it is expensive, but that's how you would get the benefit of the fragrance from the essential oils already in the soap. However, I have a video on how to made drier balls, and they work beautifully! I'm still using the same three drier balls and you can add essential oils to them to add fragrance. Hope this helps...🙂❤
@grandmasewhappyhomestead1877 жыл бұрын
Patti Rose Life Happens are you saying the recipe calls for regular size 4 oz bars? And you need 6 of them?
@PattiRoseLifeHappens7 жыл бұрын
Yes, 6 bars of 4 - 5 oz. soap. The Kirk's are 4oz.'s and the Dr Bronner's are 5oz.'s so if you use all Dr. Bronner's you could use 1 less bar. But there is plenty of leeway, it does not need to be exact. I use 3 of Kirk's and 3 of Dr Bronner's with Tea Tree oil in it. 🙂
@grandmasewhappyhomestead1877 жыл бұрын
Patti Rose Life Happens okay thank you so much my son is really impressed how you actually answer and help people. So you know what I'm making today. Although my daughter who nannies my grand-daughters took my laundry for today to my son's house as our water heater broke. We have well water so it's awfully cold and I could do it warming up water but my son and his family had lived with me for 4 weeks and my son said if we needed to do laundry at their house my daughter could bring it with her. My daughter will be thrilled to use their shower as some of us dealt with the Arctic blast of cold water and mixing hot water for showers. But you know what I am counting my blessings I woke up alive today that's a blessing we wake up we can see that's a blessing I have running water that is a blessing I have electricity so this pot can heat water so I can do my dishes I don't have a dishwasher. I have a stove that I can still do some canning today. So I have so many blessings and you know I really realized how how much you can do with cold water as long as you can heated up the shower is about the only difficult thing. So there's that song count your many blessings name them one by one count your many blessings and see what God has done. So my heart is overflowing was such gratefulness and you know what and in many ways I've repented to the Lord because I've taken hot water coming out of a faucet for granted. Thank you so much for your videos you're such a blessing and now trying to get my mom to watch your channel as well. Patty Rose you are a blessing and touching lives for Jesus but also for people to look at life with more of a better attitude be so blessed my sister in Christ

MAINEiac Grammie's Homestead I was going to make my last batch of laundry soap that I usually use Fels-Naptha and I was going to try those out and I got it home and someone said you can use the already shredded flakes will when you read on the box it says it's too much sudsing for HE washing machines. So I took it back and used up the Fels-Naptha which I've done for many years when I've made soap but I'm might be trying this Castille I know my grandma swore by Castile for her body how healthy it was so I never thought of using it for laundry soap. Do you have an HE washing machine?

Thank you so very much for taking the time to do all that research to educate me. I was just wondering, will this formula be safe for a "he" washing machine. New subscriber.
@PattiRoseLifeHappens4 жыл бұрын
I cannot state positively that it will work in HE washers; however after a quick google search, everything pointed to - yes you can because there is no added sudsing agents added to the formula. It said to use about 2 Tablespoons. Hope this helps.😊💕✝
Thank you!! It’s crazy how I was just asking myself why are people still adding zote and feels naphtha soap to their DIY natural soap detergents when I came across your video. These 2 soaps are NOT natural and have harmful chemicals that harm us, our oceans and animals just like you mentioned and fels soap has carcinogenic chemicals in it. Also, we should not be using anything with a label that states it has fragrance in it. If you’re going to add any of these 2 soaps to your chemical free soaps you might as well use commercial detergents. The best ones to use are Castile soaps by Bronner and Kirk’s. Thank you for raising this awareness to people. And I completely agree with everything you mentioned about borax. Blessings to you.

Hello there. Just so you know the UK has a Borax substitute without the questionable ingredients the USA has in the traditional Borax, but the one we have still has the components as you know as Borax. The company is Dri-Pak in the UK and the products literally called 'Borax Substitute' so for those of you who want the ethic side of things but want the effectiveness of the Borax, and don't mind paying postage to USA, thats the one to go for. I use when making my laundry soap detergent. All the best
