Hi Jennifer, I've been making and using this cleaner since I read your books a year and a half ago! Love it. Being an RN, I calculated that 40 drops equals approximately 1/2 teaspoon so that makes it very easy since my bottle of lavender oil does not have a dropper. Hope this hint helps someone else! PS: I'm addicted to your books and channel!

Add one drop of dish soap to the mixture to keep the lavender oil suspended without separating.

Hi Jennifer! I like to use food related oils in the kitchen vinegar sprays (one at a time) such as grapefruit, peppermint, clove, lemon, orange, etc. and lavender is my favorite for bedrooms...evergreen type oils are our favorite for family room & living room... eucalyptus fav for all the bathrooms and lastly, tea tree combined with one more oil of choice (different for different moods/needs or wants, haha) for vacuum (we use the rainbow vac w/ water reservoir. I began cleaning this way about 25 yrs ago after a beloved pet passed away from unknown causes and we've never looked back. Here in the states we tend to use such toxic cleaners in our homes, toxic lotions, potions, makeup & much more thinking it's ok some how. Enjoyed. Best wishes, Carol

This is amazing & has improved my cleaning (& kept $ in my bank account) I also has added drops of the lavender essential oil to the bottom of each trash box and a few drops inside the roll of TP (the cardboard part) Also everytime I take out the garbage I spray some inside the container & clean any “yuck” off. The scent makes a HUGE difference in the way the trash container smells!

I make this too, I do two cups water to one cup vinegar and use eucalyptus essential oil. I especially like it for the floor with kids. Non toxic and removes "stickiness" from kids juice spills. I like your glass spray container.

I love this cleaner too, and use it for just about everything. I put around 20 drops of bergamot and 20 drops of grapefruit essential oils. I didn't realize lavender has cleaning properties in addition to the aroma therapeutic benefits - I'll have to think on that! BTW - I love how your apron looks with your lace tee, so pretty!

You make keeping house look so elegant! ;) I currently have a homemade cleaner that I made with the Four Thieves herb mixture, extracting the properties in vinegar (my pregnant brain is forgetting what that process is called!). It's super potent! For something a bit lighter, yet still effective, I look forward to making your lavender vinegar recipe. :)

Jennifer, this spray looks lovely. I love diy cleaning products, but I wanted to mention that vinegar isn't safe on granite surfaces as I've read that it causes "etching." I found this out after using it a while on my kitchen counter tops.

I think it's important to mention you cannot use vinegar on granite countertops. Since so many people have granite now. You can't use an acid on natural stone.

Thanks for the idea, Jennifer. I use an eco-friendly store bought cleaner but may have to try this. I try to reduce the use of chemicals around the house but it's difficult for laundry because only heavy duty stain removers like Preen and certain detergents seem to work for me. Also, I'm curious to known if you pay attention to the chemicals in your makeup, cleansers and moisturisers - I have some knowledge of chemicals and their effects and sometimes ingredients even in high end brands can be shocking. Curious to know your thoughts.

Hi Jennifer! I am a young mother, baby #5 due very soon... and your books have been life changing for me. So thank you! I also love following you here and watching your videos. While watching this one, I noticed your beautiful fingernails! With several little ones at home it hasn't been reasonable for me to get to the salon for regular manicures. I would love to know more about how you keep your nails looking so nice. I seem to remember from one of your books, that you do your own mani/pedi's ?? Please share your secrets.❤

Thank you! I do my own mani/pedis. My pedicures last around 3 weeks. Manicures last around 5 to 7 days. I don't always have my nails painted. It's hard when you have a baby. I'm afraid to paint them in case he needs me to pick him up! :)

Lovely video, as always! I always use a mixture of water, vodka (because I find the smell dissipates a bit faster than vinegar and it is equally disinfecting), lemon oil and eucalyptus oil in a glass spray bottle. Either way, it is really lovely to know exactly what is going into the cleaning products, and there is something so luxurious about using a glass bottle, even if you are just cleaning counter tops! Thanks again for sharing!

I use the same, but my last batch was with lemongrass essential oil and I love it. I don't think anything cleans normal smudges in the kitchen faster than vinegar & water, and although the vinegar smell is a little intense when you use it, it dissipates quickly and takes a LOT of bad odors with it!

Hi, Jennifer, I have a few questions: does the water itself need to be distilled or can it be plain tap water? Also, do you know the amount (in ounces or teaspoons) of the 40 drops of oil? I have never purchased essential oils of any kind; where can you buy them (and in what dept.) other than Amazon? Many thanks.

One question: do you need the essential oil?
@ginamiller6754
@ginamiller6754 3 жыл бұрын
No, I have cleaned with vinegar & water for years. It works especially well on windows & mirrors! The essential oil makes it nicer plus the antimicrobial effect. I’m a nurse with children & pets & never wanted to use cleaning products that could be harmful to either. My first thought on this subject was when I was working in pediatric oncology & one of the mothers had done a lot of research on chemicals we use in the home & illnesses in children.
