Put high temp silicone on the exposed door "rope" seal. It will last for years. I run double " in series" taco pumps where volume is needed. Built my own also 27 years ago. Good luck, have fun, keep burning!

You need the big Taco pump, it's green in color. Never any issues with taco pumps. They are the standard in the industry.

The biggest difference between a cheap and expensive circulation pump is the ability to automatically increase/decrease the pumping speed based on some temperature/pressure sensors. That way you can use only 10-25% og the electricity otherwise needed, and you increase the longevity of all parts of your system…

Why are you running such a low gpm pump? It would seem if you wanted more circulation in the tank then you should move the water quicker. From what I was told by the guys at Badger pipe, a 100 foot run would call for around a 20 gpm pump but going out to 200- 250 feet you'd want to upsize to a 34 gpm pump. I'm at the stage of my project of needing pumps so I'd be curious as to what you've learned about distance of pipe and pumps size and or any other info regarding pumps.

@Tonnsfabrication the new pump I ordered is a 200w. By my calculations I'm aiming for 12GPM at 24' of head. 200' of 1" pex is a lot to pump through.
