Beautifully designed and elegant! This is the type of content that keeps KZbin relevant as a platform! Your safe is a gun owners dream! Not only because of the firearms, but the organized presentation! Keep on !

It is really great that natural creativity comes to KZbin to solve problems. You might even be able to double stack/stagger the rods on a 2x4. So simple it's genius. Thanks.

That certainly works well. I have the same type system in my safe. They hook on my existing shelf and can be spaced as I see fit. They weren’t really expensive at all. The best part is I have the ability to easily move them from self to shelf. Cheers!

I just got mine done..Awsome..I work for a STEEL Co. so the only thing I had to buy was the heat shrink tubing & the Tips..It came out so well,I have friends that are doing the same.THX for the video dude..

great idea to make a one piece shelf. i made mine one at a time that clip to the shelf but fyi lowes also sells a product in the paint department that you can use to dip the rods in and easily coat them istead of using shrink wrap and caps. they usually have it on the same shelf they keep the spray paint.

Thanks for the idea and all the work bringing it to life. I'm going to follow your design for racks in both my safes. Just wish I had a shop as well tooled as yours. But I've got enough to where I can improvise, adapt & make it fit.....lol

Thank you so much for this idea. I bought a cheap safe and was able to modify your idea here to fit 8 handguns in a safe with only one small shelf that would have only allowed me to store 2 guns there.

Great project, I went to Lowe's after seeing your vid. For the rods, they also have what is called Plasti Dip. People use it to dip their tool handles in to redo the plastic coating that come with them, I'm going to give it a shot.

Very cool and well made too. My only concern would be trying to remove the long guns without bumping the pistols. This is especially true in your case with the addition of ammo boxes at the bottom of the safe. None the less, still a great idea and much cheaper than purchasing a storage rack.

I made mine with N52 2" x ½" x ¼" neodymium (earth) magnets. I attached the magnets to the roof of my safe with epoxy, covered the magnets with liquid electrical tape and after it dried each pistol easily stuck to the magnets and hangs from the roof. Total cost for 12 pistols was $15. No problems with them falling off or me taking them out and no scratches.

As a suggestion add supports that run vertically from shelf downwards to floor of safe when adding things / weight. Also I'd use carriage head bolts to secure 2x2 to existing shelf vs wood ? screws.

No it won't with the 3/16 Dia rods with the plastic tips installed. I think that a 1/8" cold rolled steel rod would. You would need that or stainless so it would be ridge enough to hold up the pistols.

1/4” wood dowels sticking 3-4 inches out can work too. Especially if you don’t have a heat gun. I’m making one of these right now. Wondering if my 6” barrel revolver will fit in my safe which is 16 inches deep.

Definitely think I'm going to build myself something similar to this. Though, I think I'm going to stick it above a shelf, just in case. Either that, or I'll drill the rod holes an a slight angle.

Great idea. I think I would of used a harder grade of wood instead of pine. All the weight from 11 pistols may break the board eventually. Oak maybe? Nice shop, lots of guns....I like!

Cool idea, I wonder if wood dowels would support the weight if they were thick enough for 9mm. 10 of my pistols are all steel CZ's except for a 1911 and one Sig P220.
@jsl55709 жыл бұрын
Calilaker CAGLS - I got a 3' piece of 5/16" oak dowel at Lowe's for ~$1. It's worth a try. I cut it into 3 pieces to keep in my range bags. It works well for checking 9 mm or larger barrels for squibs or other obstructions.

Dude that's awesome work. It's to bad I don't have any of the tools to build a similar rack. I don't have a drill press, so if I went ahead with a hand drill I could possibly go in crooked and go to deep and go all the way through it. I Don't have a saw of any kid or a heat gun. Looks like this project is out for me. Well done again, take care.
