Homemade Powdered Laundry Detergent!

Makes 1 Batch:
1 cup Borax
1 cup Super Washing Soda
1 cup Oxi Clean
1 bar Fels-naptha Soap
Cut up the bar of soap into cubes, place in blender, food processor and grind it to a powder, then add remaining ingredients to blend together. I made a double batch and it will last me about 2 to 3 months and I wash clothes everyday!

i make my own laundry soap and i use this recipe. i love it. i have sensitive skin and i have not had any issues with this recipe. my clothes and bed linens smell great and they come out of the dryer feeling soft.

I finally made this recipe and I must say, "it works very well." I also add 2 tsp of distilled vinegar on the last rinse cycle and oh boy, it smells so good. Thanks.

5 oz of soap suffices for an average of 75 loads. 5/75 = 0.067 oz of soap/load. That’s the weight of two $1 bills.

FYI.. The proper way to pronounce "Zote" soap is.. "Zoteh" (like "hey"). When I read that, I had to learn how to say it all over again; and it just don't sound right... it sounds more like one is saying "okay."...lol ..Loved your vid. Thank you

Oxyclean decomposes in the presence of moisture. Loses potency. It comes in an airtight container for that reason. Better to add it separately. “To help with the detergent I always add a cup of Oxiclean...” Nothing here is or contains a detergent. The only surfactant is bar soap. Finely grating soap may be counterproductive because you want water softeners to dissolve and disperse completely before soap does.

Thanks this is a great recipe. I use Vinegar in each load as a softener. It is also good to clean your washer. I put vinegar in my softener dispenser in each load. I have 2 questions, Do you continue to use hour Kitchen Aid Processor for food after making detergent?? Does the Oxi Clean fade your fine delicate clothing?? TIA

i do this recipe plus i also add zote too . to me their both great but the fels- naptha seems to get my husbands filthy clothes from a carbide shop much cleaner than without it . like i wrote above i use both in the same batch and just found it to be the best i have ever used for clothes of any kind . also make a paste with a small amount for old staines and rub it on the stain before u throw it into ur dirty clothes hamper . i still make the liquid also n usee it for dish soap . its a great degreaser . plus i like to share with my friends. have a great rest of the week .

(apparently the "tallow" in felt naphtha according to the manufacturer is pig and and beef fat) zone also is made with animal fat. trying to find an alternative... maybe bronners..?

Fels-Naptha contains soap consisting of sodium tallowate and sodium cocoate or sodium palmate kernelate and sodium palmate.
