Watched the other videos he had on machining up the parts, to include the sand casting of heads! Would have loved to have been in his shop as he worked the piece of art out! My jaw would have been on the floor, the whole time! And to think of the other applications that engine could be put to! It would be interesting to see that run on a dyno to see what kind of torque and HP it would develop! Thank you for such a treat to see!

When the exhaust is directed into a single pipe, it's easier to hear what the engine sounds like, even more so when it's lightly muffled, it really brings out the tone of the engine

@Desmouffe Жыл бұрын
When I made the cylinders, nr 4 was a bit tight. I will take it apart and look. The crankshaft needs a overhauling anyway.

seems a waste of a superb engineered radial motor for a lawn mower!! Could have found many other uses like the motor for a paraglider or ultralight plane!! or a scale WW2 RC airplane!! Love the work!!

The problem was lubrication. I have an oilsump under the motor. If I raise it up it needs a drysump. I was not sure how to solve that.

What a fantastic radial! How much power do you suppose it puts out? Assuming similar bore and stroke did the Briggs & Stratton, I’m guessing between 15 and 20 hp?

Yes, 15 hp is a good guess. It will be taken apart later this year for some changes to the crankshaft.

How long can you run it without cooling fins on the heads?
@Desmouffe Жыл бұрын
There is cooling fins on the heads but no forced cooling. I think the cylinders are more critical. 5 min perhaps. Its a display engine...
@Desmouffe Жыл бұрын
Sorry . I mixed the videos. But the answer is still not more than 5 min, or less. I will do some more work onit later this year...
