Welcome to Vancouver, dude! That pork belly looks freaking unreal. I'm envious. If you're ever in Richmond, please check these out. Not all of these will have amazing reviews on Google but don't let that sway you. These are some of my favourite eateries(cuisine/recommended dishes): Sing Yee (打冷 / Clams stir fried in black bean sauce, deep-fried pork intestines) Dragon View (Dim sum / 流沙包, but honestly, everything's pretty good and they have old school shit like 糯米卷) Gyo-o (Kaisen don, udon / seafood yukke don) Prataman (Hainanese chicken rice / Hainanese chicken rice (duh), beef brisket curry) Double Double (Congee+noodles / 炸兩) James Snacks (Claypot rice+other old school Chinese dishes / Chicken and octopus, or preserved sausage+meat) Pho37 (Pho / Tuan's Special) Rainbow Cafe (dessert / bubble waffle [this is Richmond's OG bubble waffle shop and still the best, imo]) Parker Place Meat and BBQ (HK bbq / crispy pork belly) Icy bar (dessert / 八寶冰 [NOT the Korean-styled snowy shaved ice. You get a stupid amount of toppings so if you run out of ice, just ask for a refill. It's free]) [These 3 are in the same mall/food court. Everything there is pretty darn good and cheap, just be adventurous!] Excellent Tofu and Snack Ltd (豆腐花 / 豆腐花 [of course], other snacks are good too) Max Noodle House (Noodles / classic soup noodles with shrimp wontons [small portions. A quality over quantity kinda place]) Nanchuu Gmen Ramen (ramen+izakaya / shoyu ramen [they only serve tonkotsu broth during dinner time, lunch time is chicken-based broth]) [Grouped according to proximity]

If you are in East Vancouver I think you should definitely get Vietnamese food. Bahn mi Saigon has the best bahn mi, the special is my go to. They don't do delivery though and the line up is usually over 30 mins long but worth it (after quarantine or if someone could line up for you). Viet mama cafe has some different Vietnamese food, their fish and crab cake vermicelli and rice rolls are so bomb. When you do move to down town you need to try phnom phenh. Super good cambodian food, butter beef and the wings are to die for. I have so many more places to recommend. And we welcome you to the Vancouver food scene

You're definitely giving Vancouver a lot more credit as we've unfortunately had a huge uptick in COVID cases as of late (plus the worst air quality). For banh mi, my favourite place is Ba Le (for the #5 special) in the Mount Pleasant area and if you're feeling soup Hoang Yen for their bun cha ca. And if you're feeling adventurous, perhaps venturing out to the neighbouring municipalities of Richmond or Burnaby to Aberdeen Mall and Crystal Mall respectively. But downtown also has its plethora of good breweries and eats. Welcome to Vancouver and stay safe!

I don't know terrific amounts about Shanghainese cuisine BUT long ago, I read a silly article in the SCMP right before Valentines Day, that said guys from Shanghai are the best boyfriends because they treat their girlfriends like princesses. So everything I know about Shanghai comes down to "soup dumpling, perfect boyfriend" LOL
@leparraindufromage3662 жыл бұрын
Interesting XD Never would have thought that there exist positive stereotypes about Shanghainese guys of all things. Shanghainese cuisine is really nice, simple and few ingredients but the execution really makes the difference (Though I guess that also applies to a lot of other regional Chinese cuisine). Also not too spicy.
@aplaceinthestars32072 жыл бұрын
@@leparraindufromage366 It's really hard to get a proper exposure to all the regional Chinese foods outside of China. I'm vaguely aware of some 5 or 8 "Chinese culinary traditions", but I do my best with Google lol.
