Truly a thing of beauty. I find the older I get the simple things in life like plowing snow are the most enjoyable. Nuts huh? In regard to your Home Made Tractor your are an artist. I can't wait to show my boy's your vid. I bought a 47 Case VAC for $400, got it running, put a three point hitch blade on the rear. It's only a two point set up. I had to extend the mounts off the axle and use heavy cable hooked up to the hydraulic linkage. Works great. But back to you: Well done. Great vid.

With a gear reduction of 2 transes a guy can almost get away with a little datsun 1200cc engine with 80 hp.Haveing a auto trans in front then a 4 speed it mimics what the tractors have these days of a 4 speed with 3 speed power shift.That setup is very easy to operate on a tractor.A friend and I have built a basic tractor but would dearly love to build one that articulates in the middle and has 2 live 2 ton differentials to come up with a 4x4 tractor and utilize 2 transes;an auto and 4 sp.behind

A friend of my Dad's was a welder but by today's standards he'd be classed as a millwright. He used to make all kinds of buggies; Scoots (airboats), 4wds, etc. He even bought a surplus tank in the 50's, removed the turret, and converted it into a buggy that he could drive into the hunting camp. You don't see as many great home made creations anymore, which is a shame.

Very Very Nice Job!!! I also have a home made tractor / truck.We call it BOB.It also articulates in the center.I am putting an 8' fisher plow on it this winter.BOB is geared down 250/1 so I have a toyota 22R with auto tranny. It pushes the 4' tractor tires very nice.

The tractor was built by my father and I during one winter. The initial cost was about $3000.00 but I spent another $500.00 at a later date adding power angling to the blade. As for the experience aspect you learn as you go, I'll built many different things over the years.

The engine is an older carbureted 2 barrel 318. It only has 150 HP. but with the extra gear reduction there is no shortage of power.

@dukesroc01 Building the tractor with articulated steering allowed me to use much stronger, more common and less in demand rear axles. It also allowed the tractor to be narrower, tires this large would need a lot of clearance from the frame to obtain a decent steering radius. The engine is carbureted with electronic ignition.

The transfer case has 2 forward gears and 1 reverse. Forward gear ranges are 5:1 and 20:1, reverse is 5:1. This video shows the tractor using the higher ratio of 5:1, the 20:1 ratio is very slow (stump puller).

Nice Machine ! I saw the video where you added two cylinders to angel the blade, Could you have just used one Cylinder.? I was thinking of a single cylinder and a manual locking pin that I could release with a rod set up I bet you have heat in the cab, if you don't at least you are out of the blasted wind, I use an International 350 utility and It can be quite cold pushing snow. Thanks for the post,

I know I am 11 years late in seeing this and may not get an answer, but do you know what your maximum vertical articulation angle is, front axle to back axle? If it as high as I think is, I am sure it handles extra rough terrain well. This is a well thought out design, and build, and very impressive. The 3/4 ton, or so, axles and low gearing are tough, I am sure. Love the sound of the V8 engine. Thanks for the great post.

@tedwpx123 I'm an automotive technician with some aptitude for fabricating. The tires did cost close to $1000.00 but the rims a just old 16X6 truck rims that I modified by widening to 14 inches. The blade is homemade using mostly used metal from the scrap yard. The hydraulic pump and lift cylinder were good used pieces.

@benjaminwayneb
@benjaminwayneb 5 жыл бұрын
One of my other videos shows some more detail. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZbGZKZuhpx7n9E Your axle choice will partly depend on tire size and tractor size and weight. I used Dana 60 axles because they a 3/4 ton full floating axles, my tires are 41 inches tall. There are heavier axles available but probably at a higher price.

@benjaminwayneb Yes you probably never have a pwr shortage.A friend and i built one from a 2 ton truck and used a 455 olds with auto trans then the 2 ton 4 speed behind that auto and we had move power than we would ever need.Probably 10 times that with the gear reduct it had with the 2 trans,s coupled like they were.We mounted a hydrolic pump on the engine wich powered a blade as yours has.Also a 20,000lb. winch powered off the 4 spds side mounted PTO.Most 2 ton 4 sps have a pto on the side

I used 2 pumps, an old Ford Thompson power steering pump for steering and a 10 GPM hydraulic pump for the blade. Both pumps are V belt driven off the engine crankshaft.

Villeri why did you drive down the driveway first and then backed up the driveway and then plow it why don't you make a separate Scoop for the front page cage something on the right and left side of the plow put an angle piece of Steel going up and forward so any deep snow won't fall backwards over the face of the flower make it so you can lift the plow up with it and it says it out both sides of the plow
