Nice setup. Well designed and engineered. Minimum with all basic needs. Obviously it fits your style and personality. A home with positive energy, co-existing in a world of negative nuances. Brilliant.

Each person doing a build, has unique insights, which when put together, inspires others . Having a good view, is the whole point of being mobile. Yet most people spend more time with the gadgets they brought with them, than actually enjoying the beautiful places, which they spent all that money to reach. The less time consuming, your mobile unit takes to set up, and pack down for road travel can be, the more excitement time you will have, in each place you reach. The best we all can do, is to make a fair assesment of all the gear we carry by vehicle, considering what we never use, what can be more compact

In some vehicles, it can be required to upgrade the rear view mirrors, or add a dash cam system, with remote cameras to see, what a driver wishes to see, while traveling off road. Consider less travelled routes have trees protruding over the road, which can remove items, or damage your windscreen. Stones, logs and road debris can puncture cooling systems ....making your vehicle a casualty. Fitting protective plates, consider cooling air route, and routine service access too.

When fitting lights, winches, and suspension upgrades the things to consider, which most people omit are : A. Upgrade the carrying capacity of the tires. B. Upgrade the engines cooling capacity, to make it reliable, as hard working overheating can end in places nobody intends to be. C. Upgrade the shock absorbers, to match the load you carry, as your vehicle is no longer a light duty commuter. D. Upgrade the exhaust system to be more efficient in flow, and more quiet, as long journey drives, and travel in nature are far less tiring when done without noise. E. Carry key components which your vehicle consumes on regular basis, without which you could be stranded, like fan belts, and a fuel pump, if doing extremely hard to reach places. Filters for fuel, air, oil, and a top up of each fluid your vehicle functions on. F. Hose repair kit, should you puncture or rupture a fuel/ coolant/ hydraulic hose. G. Twin spare tires, and reliable jacking system with a base, that can work in soft sand or mud.

A different perspective to consider, being a mobile unit, is weight distribution, and effect each item has on good road holding. Keep all heavy items low down, and have the heaviest items placed central for the best control when doing slopes, changing direction, or needing to stop in emergency situations. Keep all safety features of the vehicle fully functional, and do not limit access to components, if repairs could be required, when the weather is not friendly. Having good access to tools, needed on off road travel, like recovery gear, documents, driving glasses, gloves, maps, device chargers, and on road refreshments.

The most missed item on new off road vehicles, is sturdy recovery points, at both front and rear !!!

Excellent job and I have 50 years of camping and travels. I also come from a business family and you can easily sell that diesel heater set up for cabins and truck campers or RVS.

I would suggest that your friend glues firring strips (1"x2") to his steel frame on the inside. It will shrink the inside dimension by 2" though. But it will allow him another inch of insulation. Then screw or glue the interior skin to the firring strips. Or even spray the temperature controlling. Alligator Skin spray on. It what they use on the interior of cars to cut down on heat from the engine and road. And it deadens sound transfer. Whatever he chooses, he did a great job.

Nice DIY camper build but I think it is too big and too heavy for a Tacoma payload is only about 1600 lbs!
