This is BY FAR the best video I've seen on how crossover looks and works... I am building my own home theater setup and this helps me understand! By chance, can anyone help me with crossing over? I don't want to mess up with this project..

I've spent countless hours over the past couple years, not using a computer, but a graph, if you notice even the so called experts, end up swapping caps and coils, after all thier computer designs. Just buy a bunch of coils and caps and test test test, you can use cheap ones if your only building 1 set then build your final crossover with quality parts just use the Dayton caps thier cheap and sound better than the expensive ones Jantzen coils are probably your best choice for coils unless you want to spend a lot of money

Fire only things that's bothering me why didn't you just add another potentiometer in for separate volume control or just tie it in by putting it at the beginning then branch off into the tweeter and midwoofer and can you add a parts list in the description? Other than those two things I thank you because this was so helpful!

What’s the extra banana plug for.looks like you coulda soldered the red and black cables being used to jump to the other side? Great video though.could you add a small detail what each do to make it work.
@Ozzypants20205 ай бұрын
Yeah I’m confused about that. It looks good and simple otherwise but for essentially what’s supposed to only be one 2 way speaker should only be a right or left channel which should only require two banana plugs

Crossover cut frequencies not àdd frequencies!!! We can make equalisation modification on crossover but just for few decibels. You must check the ref of your driver on Internet to see the response diaphragm.

Thanks for the nice video. I am assuming this is a 3kH crossover. What ohms? I am trying to recreate a JBL Control 1 crossover and the original crossover is 6kH and 4 ohms. What uf capacitors would I need to substitute for 6kH? Thanks.

Thank you for your nice words, i do this because i love sound 😍😍😍 For 4ohm 6khz high pass try second order filter based on 4.7uf cap in serie + 0.2mH inductor on parallel, 0.5mh in serie + 10uf in parallel for low pass.

@grob3182 жыл бұрын
@@homemade_audio Thanks, I had to figure out how to get capacitance and inductance values in series, but have it now. JBL Control 1 are about 80hz to 18kHz and they also have an SK3 light bulb as an overload protection and have a 5W 5 ohm resistor which I think I'll replace with an Lpad.

Hello I got 2 speakers from wherfedale model valdus 400 and there are no cross inside only capacitor on tweeter. What can i make for the valdus 400 ???
@YusufGinnah2 жыл бұрын
Hi Giovanni, most ready made speaker boxes have a single midbass/woofer to handle all the frequencies except for the highs. And they normally have either a 2,2uF or 4,7uF capacitor in series with the tweeter. This is how it is designed and will not sound better any other way. 😎👍🏼
@giovannipg30002 жыл бұрын
In this speaker enclosure there are 2x 8 inch woofers and 1x 1inch tweeter so the original crossover is not in the enclosure...i want to make a 2 or 3way cross over filter for the speakers so that the bass and high sounds warm and clearly.

@Tasking0830k2 жыл бұрын
i well use only active crossover ist cost lot of power output
@homemade_audio2 жыл бұрын
It's better to start with passive crossover if you want to make speakers because it's easy and doesn't cost much money. If you make a mistake in active crossover settings you'll destroy your hf drivers immediately. Don't forget to put 50uf caps between amp and hf driver for safety.
@35sonmen Жыл бұрын
speaker resistance and crossover cutoff frequency are not very important? coil and capacitor values depend on it.
@homemade_audio Жыл бұрын
Hello, you're right, but you have to read description before. To make crossover there're more important things to keep in mind like TS parameters and distortion/ response diagram. You welcome 🙏

@homemade_audio Жыл бұрын
el montaje es correcto, la señal llega a los extremos del atenuador porque el montaje es un divisor de voltaje (desde -1db hasta el infinito), el otro montaje sin cablear el otro extremo es un montaje en serie a partir del cual la atenuación es de unos decibelios.

@@salbahebf ok it works, but you have to add resistor in serie instead lpad to control the level of HF response, same for midrange if it's level too high, it depends on the sensitivity of drivers used.
