Thank you for encouraging use of and donating to food pantries. I work at one and i want your viewers to know most can buy way more food if you donate cash than if you buy items yourself..in case noone is aware of that. $5 or $10 donation can buy a large amount if food thru the food bank purchasing power.

Apparently, Walmart has cheap bags of chicken leg thigh quarters. Might be worth a look. It was around $6-7. There were quite a lot in there from what I saw on a recent video I watched.

FYI.the shank portion of the ham contains mostly bone. The butt portion is the best for the price. You will pay more per pound but you will have 2 1/2 to 3 times more meat from your ham. You can get more meals, and sandwiches for lunch. Believe me you will definitely benefit from paying more in this situation.

Thank you for sharing this. You are doing Gods work helping those who may not be great home cooks. You prove that with a bit of planning and on the fly adaptation you can feed a whole family for under $50. Good tip on the yeast. I find bakers yeast the best. Those big blocks rather than the dried packet stuff. Another good tip for ppl with a garden is to plant your own Apple, Plum or Pear trees. Every year apart from the plums (bi yearly) we get free apples and pears and over harvest can be shared with neighbors or turned into yummy jam. I also have a Bay leaf tree and everyday herbs like parsely, mint, basil can be grown from seed in planters or from cuttings from existing plant and all it needs is some sunlight warmth and water its basically free. The herbs freshen up homecooked meals like crazy and add taste to otherwise bland tasting food.

I like your idea of stressing whole foods as opposed to a lot of processed ingredients. You also proved we can take basic ideas and switch them up when we find a great deal on an item we had not planned for. Switching the ham for the chicken definitely was a smart move. I never was a soda drinker on a regular basis and have finally weaned myself off potato chips the last was Doritos. I had to ask myself what nutritional value was a bag offering ? At $5-$6, a large bag of Doritos is the same price as say a package of Hamburger which could make 6-10 meals depending on how I used it, and also the price of meat in my area. Your little shopping buddy is a cutie.

I love the frozen mixed vegetables. I stock up when they are on sale and have a chest freezer to store them. I add some to so many meals, gives color, flavor and stretches the meal. Tomorrow chicken leg quarters (leg and thighs) are on sale for 49ç a pound. Last time they were on sale I got 60 pounds and pressure canned bone in so I had luscious broth along with the tasty meat.

I buy those too! Kroger has them. It’s a ten pound bag of leg quarters. And it’s like 67 cents a pound and there ya go. Broth, dumplings, fried chicken(dark meats always best) and btw y’all Paula deans fried chicken recipe is amazing. You need hot sauce, just like Texas Pete’s not Tabasco, salt pepper and garlic powder which she calls her house seasoning, eggs water flour and it’s so good. You just mix the hot sauce eggs and water whisk your eggs of course and then put the dry ingredients together. Flour your chicken, then dip in eggs and hot sauce then the flour again. That’s what I do. And make sure your grease is hot when you put your Chicken in. And btw y’all my mamaw taught me to save my chicken grease you just strain it into a container when it cools enough to. Or if you forget to when it’s still warm just warm it back up enough to get it out of your skillet:-) she’d use a spaghetti sauce jar.

Yay its a Lori vlog! I have to tell you during Easter in 2022 Aldi put all there hams on sale after Easter i picked out 5 of the bigger hams and loaded them into the freezer we ate them throughout the year and i have quite a few bags of ham in the freezer along with a bunch of hambones we just ate the last ham this Easter it came out great so i needed to make some room in my freezer so i took 3 hambones out of the freezer and made 12 quarts of ham broth from those 3 bones i put them in crock pots for 12 hours the broth was so golden and rich looking. I am eating all whole xlean foods nothing processed i have a soy allergy and a gluten allergy as well. I still buy a few processed foods for my kiddos but they are perfectly happy with all the new unprocessed meals that i have been making as well. Thank you for all that you do and have a blessed week.

I’m so thankful for your channel! I live in NC and am a stay at home mom (was laid off from my stay at home job) so now on one income. It’s rough! I stopped shopping at food Lion or Walmart cause I was spending at least $200 every week on groceries . Went to Aldi a couple weeks ago and was amazed when I only spent $113. I’m bound and determined now to get it lower with your channel. I’ve got to get my husband weaned off of processed cereals and snacks. But I have two little mouths to feed so anything helps! Thank you for your recipes!

Great ideas thank you! You can use rice for breakfast with sugar and milk or you can make rice 🍚 pudding for dessert 🍨 you can thicken any soup with instant potatoes . Love egg 🥚 in a hole with fried potatoes 🥔 see you soon 🌸🌈🌸

I keep a couple pigs of instant potatoes in different flavors and use them as thick eners instead of flour, works really well and adds flavor. cornstarch is also another thing I use to thicken things. I just don't care for using that much flour to thicken.

Lovely meals. We had a ham and used some for fried rice, we loved it with egg drop soup for a meal we call Chinese Fake Out, instead of take out. Simple and filling. I cannot find the yeast at Sam's or Costco but I do have some in freezer. Bought it a while back and it is still good. I like the look of that bread you made too. I am trying to make the sourdough you shared and it is not ready yet. I do love to make French bread and big rolls that taste like Kings sweet Hawaiian bread, especially big enough to make bun sized for pulled bbq meat sandwiches. Soups looked delicious too. I make a vegetable soup or lentil soup to carry for my lunches for the week. Very filling and frugal. Have a great weekend!

Wow! I live in Washington state and im watching the prices scroll down the screen in awe! These prices are waaaaay cheaper than in Washington! This state is so expensive and the residents are all @holes. Seriously I'm paying $4.00 for a pound of store brand butter! We get dried garbanzo beans and cook a cup or two at a time in the instant pot. Add them to soups, meat loaf, salads, make hummus, rice dishes etc. Garbanzo beans (chick peas) are a great source of plant protien, fiber, potassium, magnesium and iron. I frequently add them to meals to help with those with texture issues 😉

Next time wash the beans before you cook it. You will see what I mean if you do it. Soak the beans the night before it cooks, add the salt after it cooks, and it will cook faster = saving on electricity bills. Great meals idea.
