The Mitford series by Jan Karon is another great book series with meals all throughout it. There’s even a Mitford cookbook. We have a Mckays outlet bookstore here and I actually found it for $.97! What a win.👏🏼🙌🏼☺️

Yesss. Remember me from Instagram? I love(d) making things that are found in books! I made Turkish Delight with my gelatin inspired by Chronicles of Narnia movie/book, and crisp apple strudels” and “schnitzel with noodles” from Sound of Music song “My Favorite Things”, etc. My boys remember that too and now at 18 & 20 they will pass on those cooking memories. My parents are from Italy and immigrated to Philadelphia from Italy after they got married. My Dad learned to be a Baker in Switzerland and so I grew up in their bakery and so I naturally have a love of baking & cooking from scratch.

Hi Susan! Yes, I do remember, I hope you have been well!! And that is so fun, doing this with Chronicles of Narnia and Sound of Music, how special!! Maybe the Narnia books will be the next we read!

We did this with the Little House books. I enjoyed them more as an adult than as a child. Lots of lessons to be learned. We make a similar meal with the potatoes, but have been using sausage. Spicier sausage with sweet potatoes and broccoli is so good! The veggies balance the spice, but you still get the good flavor!

Oh I bet that was sooo fun with the Little House on the Prairie. I still have never read these books either! And that sounds so delicious with the spicy sausage!

I love the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books. I have them all in audio format. I’m planning to re-listen to the entire series starting in January. Thanks for the link to the literature-inspired recipes!

Thank you Kelli! I remember in a video a while back you said you learned a lot more info on how to make whole grain bread better from a blog you were looking at, and that you were going to do a video on it. I was wondering if you already did this, I can't find it and have been really excited about it! Also my friend recommended me the book "for the love of sourdough" by the food nanny, and she uses Kamut and everything has been wonderful that I've tried! Kamut is only $2/ lb on Azure with the 25 lb bag too!

Hi Christine! Yes, I will do a video on it, but here is the link where the recipe is forum.breadtopia.com/t/3rd-time-not-a-charm/7226/13 You'll have to scroll down to Jonathan Mandel's comments on Sept '18. He gives his recipe. I wanted to try it several times before making a video on it, in case I changed my mind, but so far so good!

I love the Ann of Green Gable movies, never thought of reading the books. Might have to see if I can find them. Great ideas on dinners. We keep it really simple here with a meat & veggies & having a little variety in how to cook them is so nice!

Thank you, yes, I hope you're able to find it! I'm looking for the other ones in the series now every time I go to thrift stores!

I read the Anna Green Gable series two or three times! I’d be reading it right now, but it’s packed and I haven’t got to unpacking my books yet. I’ve been tempted to go to the library just to read it all again. I highly recommend those books especially at this time of year… So cozy!😊

@@lovinglifefreely absolutely! And they are a bit different from the movies… Especially the last few books, compared to the last few seasons of the movie series.

Loved the video today I never thought about recipes from books that we read. That is an amazing idea thank you for sharing that. I'm going to look into it especially with Thanksgiving coming up here in Canada and being indigenous. I'm going to try making foods from my culture but also from movies and books that I've read. Great idea! I have a question do you ever feel guilty when you're reading other books and not reading the Bible I know we read our Bibles and we spend time with God but sometimes I feel guilty when I put an hour or so into another book. I think to myself I should be putting this time into God's word even more and getting more of God's word into me then reading other books just wondering if you ever feel that way or struggle with that thought? Blessings, Michelle :)

That is so fun what you plan to do for Thanksgiving! How special!! And you know, I don't feel guilty. I still make reading my Bible a priority every day. I also believe we can honor God in all we do, whether that is simply sitting down to read a book for the joy of it. Or to read a book that we can learn and grow from, and use those skills we learn to the glory of God! =)
