I found that my larger leaf peperomias do better in my house. My house is cooler, 62 degrees during the winter and average 50% humidity. I’m probably guilty of overwatering the small ones that expired. Yes, there’s nothing to the root system. I was so surprised when I removed them from the pot. This video was helpful, thank you.

I am so grateful and happy to say the reason why my Cappentra leaves are all droopy because of Winter .In door the soil is moist . It can be confirmed I took it outside thinking it may improve but it got worse.
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
Peperomias cannot stand cold temperatures. Room temperature is the best for them. Also in winters, peperomias don't need a lot of water. Just water when the soil dries out. Peperomias can store enough water in their leaves. But be mindful that they are not drought tolerant plants.

You mention adding the perlite, pumice, or sand if the leaves are curling. So do you mix that all into potting soil or layer those elements a certain way-- how do you suggest the mixing for a healthy soil?
@Homemakr4 ай бұрын
Hi there, you don't have to add all of them. you can pick any one out of the three. Mix it up with your potting mix for extra drainage and aeration.

Hi! The leaves on my peperomia have what looks like some rough rust colored area close to the stem. What has caused this, or rather, why? The leaves are dull, but are nice and firm, and some of the leaves drop. I have 3 separate plants that I have grown from clippings. In the past this plant has survived for me for going on 20 years, with clippings. We have moved to a different province and now the plants do not like it here. LOL It was very healthy prior to that move. What do you think the issue is here? Thanks!
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
Hi Janet, If you are still fulfilling all the plant care needs, same as you before moving then most probably it could be just the change stress that your plant is going through. Just like humans, plants also get used to the care routine, amount of light that they are receiving everyday and the air and environment around them. and when we change their position or area or change the care routine, plants start showing signs of stress such as droopy leaves or sad looking leaves, leaf drop, their growth stops for sometime etc. Give your plant some more time to adjust to the new environment. It will recover soon.

I brought home a new watermelon pepperomia and notice dark black marks on some of the leaves. It looks like an ink smudge / grease mark in the center of the leaf. Can you help me with what it might be and how to prevent it

My pepperomia obtusifolia has stopped growing. The new buds dried up and they never grew back again. I repotted it 2x already and I’m thinking I used a wrong or non well drainig soil for it. Should I repot it again and use a well draining soil? I’m thinking of propagating using the leaves but I dont have much luck in plant propagation yet because I am just a plant beginner. Waiting for your advise. Thanksomuch for your videos!
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rose, If you think that the potting soil you used is not well draining then you can repot your plant again. But always remember that plants take sometime to settle in the new soil environment which slows down their growth and can also affect new growth. This is called Repotting stress. But Once they settle, the plant will start growing new leaves. If the new leaves are drying, then it could be an improper watering issue or high temperature which is causing the new growth to dry out. So make sure you water them once half of the soil dries out. Regarding propagation, Obtusifolia is the easiest plant to propagate. Just take some leaf or stem cutting and place them in water. They will give out roots within few weeks and then you can transfer them in the soil. 😊

Hello, I’ve had mine for two months. I noticed it’s lost many leaves. Some of the current leaves have brown spots underneath or on top. Today I moved her from her previous small pot to a bigger one, added fresh soil and water. Is there anything else I should do?
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I think that should be fine. Give your plant some time to adjust to the new soil. It will recover soon. Make sure not to overwater your peperomia.

my peperomia is drooping and I think it's because of high temperatures and low humidity. what do I do with the curled droopy leaves? do I cut them with a scissor and at the leaf or along the stem? I don't want to cut them if I shouldn't, can you advise?
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christina, There is no need to cut the droopy leaves. Once you provide the right conditions to your plant, It will be recover. If the leaves dont recover, they will fall over themselves.

Hi Harris, improper watering is another cause for droopy plant. Both underwatering and overwatering can cause droopy leaves. Water the plant appropriately. Try bottom watering your plant.

I’ve had my watermelon peperomia for maybe a year, but it hasn’t really grown much and the leaves are curled down, not up. It’s in a south facing window not too far back so I think it’s getting enough light, I’ve tried a lot with no success other than it’s still alive.
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
Hi Caitlyn, Peperomias can be really tricky to care for. I think the bright light might be the reason behind curly leaves. Peperomias can survive well in normal lighting as well. Try moving it a bit away from the window and see if the curls go away. Good humidity and regular watering must keep them happy and thriving.

@Homemakr Жыл бұрын
Hi there, Bottom watering is the best for peperomias. Fill a bowl with water and then place the pot in the bowl. Let the soil absorb the water. once you feel the top soil moist, remove the pot from the bowl. Bottom watering helps to prevent over watering.
