Not even close. The Interstate system destroyed lots of people. It was particularly bad because where most roads follow property lines / section lines, the Interstate meandered cross-country all over the place, cutting properties in two. Whole farms were destroyed when one portion was cut off and might have required a 10 mile route to access, assuming it didn't become landlocked. @Andrey Angere is that the law? I know plenty of intersections where you don't have to stop, like two spots have stop signs but the other two don't. I could even see if there was something blocking it, but if there's nothing blocking your view and you stopped at the stop sign, and you can clearly see there's no other vehicles why would you have to stop where there is no stop sign? It's possible that's a local law. I know an area near where I live and a guy I work with got a ticket for turning right at a stop light and not stopping. Thing is he had a green light. It's a law in that city that you treat it as a stop sign if you're turning right even if you have the green light. I haven't seen that anywhere else. Yes if you have a red light since cross traffic would have the green but if you have the green then the only reason you should check is if someone runs a red light or someone coming from the other direction is turning left. Both would also affect if you just went straight through the green light but you don't have to stop at a green light for that, just turning right. And again if you had to stop at both the sign and intersection why not move it up closer to the intersection so you don't have to stop multiple times at the same intersection. He waited 9 seconds so I think he was waiting for traffic then went when it was clear. And since the cop let him go, and didn't mention he has to stop twice, I'm guessing the cop knew he was wrong.

Why would he do that?? So he demanded the town pay him in full for the property value or come up with a new expansion plan that didn’t involve our land. The town already planned out this expansion and had no plan B, so they were eventually forced to agree with the easement. Land bound taxes do not make any sense when there are income taxes. Property taxes were among the first types of taxes since ancient times because it was the easiest way to determine someone's income because most people were agricultural workers. This model became obsolete when the economy diversified and there are now multiple ways to make money without directly owning land. I feel like it's just a useful legacy of the past for the government.

First off, $1,900 is insulting. Secondly, this would not only leave him out the money that the land they want is worth but then the value of his home will plummet. Thirdly, we just saw on camera that someone failed to stop at the sign. The problem isn't the road, it's your local law enforcement not sitting there handing out tickets until people learn to drive. I would recommend abandoning the project as it is. Replace the stop signs with signs that have flashing red lights and add a small speed bump. A place in my town was like this, a wall that keeps the him next to the road from washing away blocks your view to the right and trees block the view from the left. There is a speed bump so small that you done even really feel it but you do notice it and the sign has flashing lights. If you cross the straightaway without stopping then you should have your license taken away. I've nearly been in an accident at this spot when someone ran the sign but since they added a handful of asphalt and two blinking lights I don't see anyone fail to stop now. $1,900 just to buy this man's property would cover the cost to do the same at every stop sign in their town I'd imagine. That doesn't even touch how much it'll cost to dig up the bought property and the existing roads and lay entirely new road down. What a waste of tax payer money. They could MAKE money by adding a bump and lights and have officers ticket violators. This town needs new officials.

Yes but they need to straighten the road so they can take the other property's front yards by widening it latter. It's how they get rid of old housing, build a new "needed" road or something then build new $200k houses and/ or apartments on it.
@711600005 жыл бұрын
I went through the same thing years ago with my last home. They wanted to widen a two lane road to four and that meant taking 20' across the front of my property. I told them up front that I didn't want to sell, that the land was worth more to me than almost any amount of money. Of course at that point they threatened me that they would take the land and give me nothing. Is this really america. I went to all the meeting where they explained how if people living along the road would donate the land they could take a tax deduction on their income tax. Oh sure that going to be a good return. I argued with them that they didn't have enough money to buy the land and build the road. Which they didn't because no one donated the land except for a couple of developers who wanted the road widened. I expect there was campaign funds donated for the county commissioner for widening the road. At any rate I eventually gave up and at that point decided to make them pay as much as possible. They ended up paying me almost what I had paid for the entire half acre my home sat on but I ended up with my homes bedrooms being thirty feet from a four lane road. Best to move which I did eventually. I personally think the state or county should have to pay three times the going price for every foot of property taken.
@tomsandoval26075 жыл бұрын

@711600005 жыл бұрын
@tyvek05 Please explain how I'm in the wrong when the entire widening was a political stunt to benefit developers in the area while making my home basically uninhabitable. Along another road the garage that worked on my cars had to close because they took his entire parking area and offered him way below what the land was worth. You're confusing me wanting a fair price for my land with me saying(which I didn't) that the govt. had no right to take my land. Perhaps some reading classes will help you.

Eminent domain is a legal action where your "fair market value" is determined in court and you are issued a check along with an eviction order. I highly doubt they are going to abandon plans because one person is not a willing seller.

@@EightiesTV Yeah but the township has to purchase the whole property, not just that tiny chunk of half his yard. And the township trustees have openly stated that they’re abandoning plans for the project because it’s too small and unnecessary to use eminent domain, and it’s not worth it for them to purchase his property for such a small expansion that doesn’t provide enough public benefit to use eminent domain... maybe if his city doubles in size in like 15 yrs they can use eminent domain. None of those trustees gain anything monetarily by him losing that 20ft if yard so idk why everyone thinks this is some Big Government ploy to steal this mans valuable 20 ft. It’s a tiny little state township that has a 4 way with a high percentage of accidents and we’re all pretending it’s wrong for them to make offers

@@littlebubbleguy ... I hear you. Big or Small, no government has ever promised to do one thing and then proceeded to do the complete opposite. LOL.

@@christophermurphy7113 that’s true though and I’m not saying that eminent domain hasn’t been inappropriately used in the past or that it couldn’t be.

The guy went bankrupt because his daughter needed a kidney transplant, and asked the city for the $1,900 but the city made new blueprints for a nearby shopping mall so they were no longer interested in his property because of a new road design. Then the Chinese made him an offer on the property to turn it into a Starbucks, but it wasn't enough to cover the cost of the kidney, so the Chinese struck a deal with the man to give one of their kidneys and in return the man would become a product of the Chinese government. He now serves as a foreign diplomat in China and was assigned a new wife to make him more convincing as an ambassador for America. They are 6 months pregnant and expecting a boy. His daughters surgery went well and once she recovered she promised to payback the Chinese government in hopes that one day they will allow her father to return home. She is currently employed as a barista at the Starbucks that used to be her father's home.

Doesn't suprise me honestly. That grass ain't gonna hurt it in the slightest. Even the most fragile of phones can survive that drop test. I do it all the time when at the lake and I need to jump into the water for something.
