Great video! One of the most important things I've learned from you is that many "subtle" mixing moves make for huge changes in the final mix.

Not only is this an excellent informative video, but your mix of the song in the video is excellent as well. Superb job. Thanks so much.

Hi Dave. Great video. Was there a reason for sending the buss/effects sends out to the parallel channels. Just curious. Tks

Excellent. You would think that each of the parallel compression busses would fight for contention with each other but they don't, and the result is a wonderfully balanced mix. I guess this is where the mastering stage really becomes important because without care and attention the whole thing can start to lose dynamics.

Hey Dave, Is there any reason why you can't send the whole Drum Buss to the Paralllel Buss instead of sending each individual drum? This question is for all of the parallel busses.
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy6 жыл бұрын
you can do that as well. but then you do not have control over the send level for each drum. I also rarely ever send overheads and room mics to a parallel bus. My method just gives you a bit more control that's all.

In Studio One 3 there is now a "split track" device, splitting your track into a right and left section on the same track. If you used parallel compression on one side and retained the other mildly compressed dynamic side, would that achieve the same results? Or would the quality of the sound suffer? I have used it that way but I am a novice learner in audio.

Would you send these Parallel Compression Tracks into the final 2 track mixdown as you would the busses?
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the parallel tracks are routed to the master bus

I love my Studio One 3 Professional much much more than the newest version 6....it sucks :-) I still have no idea what paralell compesion means or does.

Studio One 3 was working just fine for me back in the day. no real reason to upgrade

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy You dont think Presonus will ever drop the older versions do you?

ok so on the 1176 p drum buss you say you had fast release but you have it on max time. I'm so confused.
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy6 жыл бұрын
the controls on a 1176 are backwards from what you would think. Total clockwise is fastest and total counter-clockwise is slowest
