THANK YOU SO SO SOOOOO MUCH!!!! I am entirely new to any sort of recording, let alone audio editing, and your videos have been the most informative and yet understandable. Thank you so much, because just your explanations of the vocabulary alone gave me a starting point.

If I don't have acces to bus can a FX channel do the same job? I'm new to this and I don't have the bus option... Thanks for your videos!

I'm trying to record audio over an imported mp3 file (converted through the Presonus mp3 converter plugin), for example to do a voice over. However, the audio is barely audible once the mp3 voice enters or once the music in the mp3 swells. I use a T.Bone SC 400 condenser mic. How do I make my voice through the mic more audible over the mp3 file? Can't seem to find a tutorial about this. Thanks in advance for your help!

If I use a template like this and create a new song and finish it can I keep the song on the template or will I need to erase the tracks before adding new ones? I watched a few videos on this and none explain this
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy5 жыл бұрын

have a question... great video. In using a template what do you do if the tracks you import into the template are different BPM. In other words say I use this as a master template and I have different songs to import into it each time I work on a different song, but they are all different tempos Will the tempo line up right after I import it into the template if the template is set to lets say 120 bpm, but the imported audio is not that bpm?... Thanks
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy8 жыл бұрын
Just make sure that your Template does NOT have the box that says "stretch audio files to song tempo" and you will be fine. You will see this option when you create a new song file.

Nice! For my project I can create only two busses, one for the mp3 tracks of the song I lay drums tracks on and another for my drums tracks..i have been playing with the effects available in S1P and putting them individually and was wondering if there was a way to do it in the groups, this is my answer

If a bus track helps control the volume of a group of tracks, what is the function of VCA tracks?
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy8 жыл бұрын
Here is a great video by my friend Marcus that explains this perfectly kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJXYd5iBZs59qsk
@stupidusername388 жыл бұрын
Jay John Coutts a VCA is just a volume controller. a bus effectively changes the route of your audio as your tracks are being diverted from going to the main out to the bus. A VCA still pushes the audio to the main out.

Why create busses for effects if you could just add then to the instrument tracks? I can understand it for a drum kit perhaps because it would avoid multiple instances of the same effect.

Hi David, after you set up a bus template, do you assign your individual tracks to the respective bus (i.e., drum bus), and to the Main? Many many thanks!
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy8 жыл бұрын
yes, exactly
@highsierrabassplayer8 жыл бұрын
Can you go into more detail on how you setup your track bussing? I see on on one of your videos (Tips For Mixing using Stock Plugins) you have buses for guitars, vocals, drums, effects, and you also have set up buses for guitars and vocals on Main buses as well. Is this explained in more detail in one of your videos? 'd be glad to pay you for a more detailed explanation. Thanks.

I have learned that it is best practice to set your sample rate as high as possible for best results. The reason is to leave headroom for mastering down to CD grade quality (44.1K). For example, pro engineer Kevin Shirley (Maiden, Dream Theater, etc.) sets his sample rates to 96K for the mix session and then masters it all down to 44.1K. Granted this makes the files huge, but the quality will ultimately be better. For the bit rate I have always used 32 bit float. Not sure what that does vs. the sample rates, but higher always seems to be better. For me I just use 48K samples at a 32 bit float resolution. BTW David would you be able to do a video on the new VCA track feature in Studio One 3. I think there is a lot of confusion between it and a traditional bus track.
