Yes it’s a lot of work but the satisfaction of seeing a good job and knowing the quality of materials is so worth it. Thanks and God bless.

I can’t thank you enough. I’ve learned how to do drywall, tape texture and paint. Large shop 160 sheets one helper (my wife). All drywall is up, taped and textured. Paint tomorrow. You saved me 14,000 US dollars. And I bought all the tools lift trowels correct buckets. Everything. I did cheat and buy a ridgid drywall gun

I used to hate painting, but I've grown to love it once I bought Jeff's recommended tools. Take time, learn to cut, and you'll speed through rooms. Thanks for everything, Jeff, especially the painting and drywall techniques. They've been life-changing and have allowed me to gain the skills I didn't think were possible as a DIYer.

A good trick with ceiling paint and it's brilliant (super) white is to add a small amount of black paint. It reduces the likelihood of any imperfections on the base surface. My paint store adds the black tint when purchasing it or their ceiling paint has black in it from the manufacturer.

I started a small painting company years ago as a side gig to help supplement my full time income. I used the same sanding head and handle. I recently invested some of my profit in a Festool Hepa vaccuum and Planex orbital 10 inch sanding system. The system does such an great job prepping the the walls getting rid of all those old dried pimples, sags and roller lines. It's fast, efficient, clean and worth every penny!

10 minutes ago? This is what I need! I tried using one of those Magnum air brush things (thinking it would be like an airbrush for wedding cakes), boy was I mistaken. I didn't like it at all. It was really messy and loud, and I just didn't have fun, lol. Luckily I didn't have to pay for the Magnum air brush thing. A friend had one I can borrow. Anyways, I used it for the primer, and I said fuck this. I'm doing it the normal way for the final coat of paint. So this will be a useful video!

Thanks for this video! Just a few details to add. The stain blocker in can, I usually use 1-2-3 and I guess it should be the same for Kilz, when used it leaves a thin coat of white powder around the area you sprayed. So better protect those surfaces. I know you already mentioned mud doesn’t flash. Everyone doesn’t have the luxury to wait a day to have the hole filler dried. I usually use the DryDex pink spackling to do repair and paint in the same day. It says on the container «No Primer Required» but in fact it does. I think there are other spackling from DryDex that doesn’t «flash» (sorry I can’t remember the name). P.S. : At 29:14 - You know these characters in movies, sitcoms that do painting... they always drop paint on themselves. 🙄 Jeff, this mark on your head is so cliché, it’s is just unacceptable from a pro like you! 😉😁 (just kidding!)

Honestly, painters tape is harder. It will pull paint off and you get feathers underneath. Learn to control your brush, go slow, get a proper cutting in brush and always have a clean damp cloth and wipe mistakes off as you go.
@williamlazaroff5478
@williamlazaroff5478 Ай бұрын
@@catherineandrews8054 you have to use clear caulking to seal the tape and then pull the tape before the paint drys and it’s fine. But after i made that comment i painted the baseboards in my bathrooms with no tape and it was ALMOST perfect.

I only saw this vid because I was looking up the old one for a refresher (I think Jeff has a grey shirt in the thumbnail for that one). I already did patching, primer (for the old paint, I know I know probably not necessary) and first coat of colour today but I’ll watch this one anyway haha One thing I noticed, my cut lines near the ceiling look “thin” compared to the rest of the wall after I rolled. I swear I loaded the brush into the bottom of a handy pail my pulls were maybe a foot at the most. Any ideas?

Well that explains what the previous home owner did. We have rooms with latex paint peeling off the walls in various spots. However, because they didn't even paint evenly, I can't just straight up peel the paint off the wall. Do you have any suggestions for the simplest way to remove the loose paint and make sure the rest of it sticks? I desperately want to repaint but I don't want to go through all the effort if the latex paint underneath is just peeling off and taking my paint off with it.

So I just found your channel and joined because you make sense. I began a project, last year. Was supposed to be simple, but previous owners took short cuts and removing a vanity for the half bath turned into a huge sheet rock repair job. I decided, I would remove all the texture from the other walls…. Watched lots of videos, lot I did an alright job, and painted. About a year later, I decided I could do better…. So I went in today with my joint compound and began “improving”…. Then a bubble appeared…. And then everything that had jnew oint compound on, peeled- like a horror film! I am now in the middle of scraping off all the paint I did last year….. did this happen because I didn’t wash/wipe the dust off enough? I would love to avoid it from happening again. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you~

Hi Roxanna! Yes old paint can need a cleaning. use a tsp to wash away oil and grease that accumulates over time. depending on how old your house is you may have oil paint on the walls. if this is the case then you must prime with a flat oil paint like Odorless Zinnser before applying a new coat of finish paint. the tech has changed and new paint cannot bond to most oil surfaces except a flat oil which was never used in bathrooms. Cheers!

I can't find any information as to what the paints are made of, the only information they have is whether it's glossy or matt and how washable they claim the walls are after painting. So are you only priming over the existing latex because of all the mud work you had to do? You mentioned in your painting A-Z video that you use joint compound to fill nail holes because it doesn’t flash. Then in your primer video you made it sound like it’s not necessary to use primer before painting over latex unless going from a really dark colour. I’m confused 😅
