I’m struggling with neglecting my ninth grader. I watch my granddaughter so she doesn’t have to go to daycare while her mom and dad work. I love her dearly and am glad to have her with us. Still, she monopolizes my attention and my son gets short changed. He’s so easy going and I don’t want to take advantage of him. It’s hard to be all things to all people!

Maybe work together with them to have her on a good sleep schedule so she naps at a certain time so you can spend that time with him.

Man, yes! I struggle with my kids not working on something every day of the week because it's high school. But I tell you, I am learning a lot too.... to just relax a little bit with the workload. Next year is my son's senior year, and I want to have joy in our year and do fun projects together. We use to do that, and I think we have really lost a lot of that joy by sacrificing it for "the high school workload." I'm constantly battling my own mind with how much is enough. High school is a different beast.... Even when I graduate both of my kids, I don't think I will ever claim I figured it out. LOL.

Oh man, yes!! I love that. We are right there together. Learning together and fun projects are missed and the workload is real, but at what cost? Definitely changing things up next year.

I'm beginning to homeschool my teenage daughter who is 15. She has always had hard time with school and doesn't like public school. I'm a single mom and I just don't know how to tackle this. Im a very stressed mom and just don't know what to do.

Do you know your state laws and requirements? If not HSLDA online can answer that. I would explore online schooling options if you are unable to teach and something that will grade so you can create a transcript for her. You can try most of them for a free trial. Let her see what she like. If she doesn’t like online look for curriculum that has a schedule so she can follow it. With all of the looking let her be very involved so she know it is created in a way she will enjoy doing the work.
