I am loving your scarf! I was homeschooled, but didn't want to homeschool my kids initially. After talking and praying about it, we decided that homeschooling was best for our kids. I truly believe it's what they need! I love being with my kids ❤

I had the same experience! I was against homeschooling until I started meeting home educating families, and I saw the wonderful things they were doing. Like you said, I was naive and misinformed about homeschooling. My husband, on the other hand, had a heart for home education since our son was a baby.

Thank you for this video. My biggest concern: how to schedule work and home schooling and private time with my kids in each workday. Unfortunately, we don’t have grandparents around who are willing to help us more than 3-5 hours a week (matching to their retirement lifestyle schedule). I’m continuing watching your videos looking for the answer for this work-homeschooling-playtime-balance question.

Hey Heather, can you elaborate on how exactly you sync your subjects? Do you just "google it" to find stuff that matches with your history and such? We are in our very first year (5 year old, 3 year old and 11 month old in tow) and I find myself using Pinterest, Google and KZbin a lot for ideas, which has actually worked quite well, but doesn't make me feel like the most organized Mama. I do a lot of decision making and organizing for the next day, late at night after the kids are all in bed.

Hi Heather.I am a mum of a three year old boy.I live in Greece and here is forbitten to homeschool.Education is only accesable in private or public schools.Although, i teach my son at home.Until he goes to kindergarden and later in public school I hope to give him some backround of a right education.Because we don't have the best educational system in the world.I would say the opposite.Our children are exhausted from the many exams and other wrong terms and when they are 17-18 years old to give the final exams for the University many kids failure or suicide.ANd is all about that system. Anyway,i wanted to ask you how you teach your little boy if he cannot stay still for 5 minutes?I wanted to know because i have the same problem.Sorry for the long comment.I hope you see this and answer my question.I love your personality and i love watching homeschooling mums.Secretely,i am one of you.Many kisses from Greece.

What a great video, Heather!! I couldn't agree with you more! It's so annoying when people ask me about whether or not my kids are being "socialized". Another one I get a lot is people asking my if I think my kids will be able to get into the college of their choosing.....like because we homeschool, my kids are less qualified than other students. #annoying #peoplehavenoclue

hi Heather, thanks for another useful video... Im a new homeschool mom (daughter in kindergarten this fall) and i was wondering what extracurricular activities your kids do? my daughter does gymnastics now, but I'd like to get her involved in other things too. also, do homeschool kids have a transcript too? like in high school, will you have to put together ones for them for college? thanks. God bless Heather!
@HeatherTorresTV7 жыл бұрын
Hi and welcome! We only do one activity per kid per season. We really value family evening time so we don't like our schedule to fill up with outside activities. But they are in day time clubs with other homeschoolers. Running club, lego club, art club - seasonally. For transcripts, it depends on your state so def check out your state standards.

You mentioned that initially you were against homeschooling due to some misconceptions. Can you elaborate a bit more on those misconceptions about the homeschooling parents and children? Thanks in advance!
@HeatherTorresTV8 жыл бұрын
Chandramouli Sharma hi! Welcome 😍 Sure! To be honest my only interaction with homeschoolers were ultra religious. They had very strict rules, weren't allowed to be in the world, and the moms seemed to only have one focus in life and that was homeschooling. I didn't know any other homeschoolers who worked or even any other young homeschooling moms for that matter. My other ideas of the spectrum were kids who were unschooled and got to do whatever they wanted and it didn't seem healthy for the kids. Boy was I wrong! Once i started researching the pros and cons and found out how common homeschooling is and what the moms and kids were like, I was sold!!! We've been in love with this education choice ever since.

Hey Heather, great videos. I'm currently looking into home school with my son, going into 8th grade. My reasoning is due to the safety of schools, and to reduce the amount of control the state has over me and my child, such as thr standardized testing. I'm deciding between public online school and traditional home school. My understanding is traditional home school does not have or is not required to have standardized testing. My main concern is, I'm a single dad, his mother has never been involved in his life. My question is, do you think a single, working father, can be successful in homeschooling a child?
@HeatherTorresTV6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jerrod. Thank you for watching. It would be hard for me to tell you if it will work or not. There are so many variables. I think that if God has laid it on your heart to home educate, then pray for the resources, the time, and the vision to see it through. I think a single parent can homeschool, yes, it just has to be done in your own way.

Hello , our child is in kindergarten right now,5 years old, and now we are looking into homeschooling, but our child picturing that next year she will get on the yellow bus and go to school with her friends.., how would you explain her that it's not going to be like that and so ... thank you,great video ;)
@HeatherTorresTV7 жыл бұрын
+Susanna Hats wow! What a great question. We started out our schooling journey actual with my daughter riding on a school bus so this was a convo we had to have with her. We talked about how School isn’t just about riding the bus and we made a list of all the things she loved about riding the bus (being with friends really) and then came up with ways we could achieve the same thing in a different way. We also made it a point to go and ride he city bus so she could still have the adventure of riding a bus too.

I do have one question. All homeschooling mom's mention socialization. But they never say how. How do you find other homeschooling moms or dads and then find activities for the kids to do and meet up with together? Is there a community of homeschoolers in your area? I have one child and that is really important to me his socialization and to be a part of a community with other kids in different situations.

Me Forever My kids socialize more now that they are homeschooling than when they were in public school. This is our second year homeschooling and my kids love it. They are in martial arts and guitar lessons. We belong to 3 FB homeschool groups secular and religious. We also do field trips with other homeschoolers from those FB groups and a co-op we belong to where we meet once a week. Hang outs with their public school friends too. And then there is church.

Why I homeschool? Because public schools are clueless, dangerous and just about money. Don't worry who supports u and who don't. It's not there business. It's your kid and your decesion, not there's. Just understand if they disagree then there bullies there self and they just confirm your choice all the more bc bullies are what you want to avoid
