What an awesome interview, Misty. I was absolutely intrigued by Heather Bailey's journey. She brightened my day and I felt so excited when realizing that there are people like her out there in the world. It gave me an internal boost of creativity and provoked thoughts of what am I waiting for, I just need to follow my heart and be true to myself.

I remember "Nicey Jane" - made a few projects from that line. Was so excited to see fabric that wasn't primitive and calico and had a modern flair. These designers and MSQC are forever in my heart for helping me cultivate my love for fabric.

Sewing is an act of LOVE. I started sewing things for my Grandchildren. Baby quilt, a small Rabbit Easter Basket, a Frog! It is my hope that as they get older they value the things I made them. As I cherish the things my Mom & Grandma made me.❤

Misty, what a marvelous interview.I have loved Heather Bailey’s fabrics since “Nicey Jane” and am so happy that she continues to design fabrics. Often these interviews with designers are kind of fluff, which is fun to listen to, but I feel we got to see the real Heather Bailey today. Excellent interview!

The back wall is a perfect place for a display wall of the designers work that you’re interviewing like you all do on the tutorial set. I think more would be interested if we could see samples and fabric lines from the designer. It is fun to hear how people get to where they are today.

I would teach and volunteer at our local schools. Every year we had Pioneer Days at our local Fairgrounds/Historical Society building. From a small town, you know how things double up. I was in charge of several things, like finger crochet and knitting, quilting, apparel, even candle making and corn shucking. The textile things, I would explain to the boys about mountain men with no wife and they would sew their own things. Then I explained that most women make things for their home and for gifts, and many heirlooms, and occasionally an entry in the County Fair. Men, on the other hand, learned to sew, would somehow always make money. Then I would name a bunch of fashion designers. The boy's eyes would light up! It was so fun. I got them going with the dollar signs every time! They all loved making things with their own hands, only a little help from a grown up, just to get started. Even embroidery was a hit. 😊❤ My girls' classes especially loved all the things they could make, cooking, sewing, knitting, corn shucking and grinding. Many went into businesses of their own, including two of my girls, the other a geriatric nurse. The 2 older girls classes, many students chose such varying courses of study. I like to think, using their imagination guided them in their chosen professions. 😊❤

I sew clothing for myself, as well as quilts. Recently, it occurred to me that it's much better to hand down a quilt than a piece of clothing. My own clothing will not have as much value to them as my quilts will have. As I've gotten older, it has really hit home with me that I need to concentrate on things that I can hand down. Quilts and handmade items have more of the maker in them and that's what people feel when they receive a quilt, doll, or whatever was made other than clothing.

For a show channel named Homespun, with nary a piece of fabric or quilt in sight, if told this was sponsored by Missouri Star Quilt Company, I would have said, "NO WAY!! Where's the fabric? Where are the quilts?" Good interview, but this is just a podcast because of the bare set and no graphics of Heather's fabrics.
