Don't be concerned about pencil marks coming in contact with food, there's no lead in ✏️, only graphite, which is non-toxic. I mean, I wouldn't consume a tonne of it , but it isn't lead . Loving the pantry series. It has really encouraged me to work through the dark recesses of my pantry and saving me money .

Finally! I didn't know that EVOO was the stronger flavored oil - only knew that if it tasted like it does, how could the other oil be tolerated in a cake. I had it backwards. At 77 yo I finally learned the mystery was me, LOL. I love flavored olive oils and adore dipping a crunchy slice of bread in oil before but will now try regular olive oil for cooking. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

BAKER'S TIP TO CREATE A FLAT TOP ON YOUR CAKE. Cut strips of an old terry towel as wide as the cake pan is deep and long enough to wrap around the outside of the cake pan. Wet the towel strip and squeeze out just till not dripping. Wrap this around the outside of the prepared pan and pin in place with a safety pin. Pour cake batter and bake as usual. This prevents the outside edges from cooking before fully rising and allows for even rising across the cake!! 😉😉

I took a Wilton cake decorating class about 40 years ago. I was 7 months pregnant with my son. No need to slice off any of your cake layers. Biggest tip we got was to let the cake cool, then put in the freezer til ready to frost it. This will make your cake more moist, and you can use a pastry brush to brush off any loose crumbs so that they don't end up in your frosting.

We grew up having foods that couldn’t have dairy because my father was allergic, so I know exactly of what you speak. I never really thought about it as a kid, but certainly did when I started cooking for my own family. To this day we all love my mom’s pumpkin pie that doesn’t use dairy over ones that do. I do think it’s easier to cook for allergies than what it was years ago, and am thankful for the different things available to replace what you can’t have. You do a great job making food for your family with those restrictions.

Little Hanna is walking! And Levi's adorable smile. David is now 15, wow. I have really enjoyed the challenge this year. Although we have a dishwasher, my husband has been purchasing disposables to assist me since I have medical challenges. But I'm having fun. I'm saving bacon grease and using it for eggs. Our chickens are still laying and so are the ducks. So we have plenty of eggs. I can eat duck eggs but not chicken eggs. I also have food allergies and I understand what you mean by finding alternatives for allergens. My biggest food challenge is for our autistic adult daughter. When preparing our meals we have to come up with something similar just for her and at times it is not easy. But I have somehow manage to do so. My husband is a big help when it comes to suggestions for her meals. Well, I'll stop chatting. Loved your pantry groceries; so amazing. *Hugs*

You are an inspiration! I love canning, baking from scratch... But my family is half the size of yours! I really like that you focus on healthy foods. Even if it's "junk food" like your potato chips 6 without all of the preservatives & chemicals they are still healthy. I don't do dairy either and refuse to buy the "vegan cheese" or whatever. I use a lot of nutritional yeast for the cheese favor with cashews for the fat. Was thinking about wild rice - I also like to put it in soups. I make a lot of soup with leftovers or things I've canned. I canned a load of French onion soup this year - first time. interested to see how you use it mine is "full soup" and I think yours is "soup base"
