@@barbaradavis7400 thank you so much for passing this type of knowledge down to your family. I pray they absorb everything you share with them. They show count themselves lucky. I know I would have loved to have known how to live this way when I was younger. Now I'm 46 and teaching myself because I have a hunger to learn and I am aware of the season we are about to go into. So I'm multitasking for sure. But our Lord Jesus will walk with me through this storm. I do have sister's in Christ Jesus who are helping to teach me. But we live in Arkansas and they live in Canada 🤣 a bit of a distance. But we do our best to make it work. Lord willing 🙏 we will all be prepared in time.

- I understand your predicament. For some strange reason, my husband (who was raised in a prepper minded home.?.) 🤔 has chosen to be adversarial regarding my prepping over the last 10-12 years. We had 7 kids who are now on their own, but some are not married yet. I've prayed for wisdom with regards to ?? How many to include in our preparations? Finally, NOW, he is sorta on-9 board with the need to act. Thank goodness all the basics like grains, rice, pasta and beans have been stored & checked off my lists. Spices and seasonings, gravy packets etc along with proteins have been our focus.

I understand it's hard to do it Al me but start a little every week at the store. Hide them away. Buy a NESCO dehydrator and start looking at things you grow or have and try drying them and storing in jars. Perhaps if he knew that food will be cheaper now, it looks like an investment.

“ We can’t grow our own toilet paper” I laughed SO hard! But, for the girls, we use cloth wipes for #1. It saves us a TON of money and in an emergency.... I’d use it for #2 and boil them. I purchased baby receiving blankets from goodwill and cut them into wipe size. You can use as is or double layer them and zig zag see around the edges.

It's mind blowing to me, this city girl that has always been 5 minutes away from the grocery store. I'm new to prepping, although, GOD started instructing me, about 10 years ago, to start saving food and blankets. So now I have a hoard in the basement. I'm thankful i found your channel, you are both SO inspiring. I am eager to learn how to survive also, without any help from others.

Seriously, I have great admiration for you two. We've been homesteading for 30+ years and I'm stunned at how much you have accomplished in your youth! And six children, too? (Do you ever sleep???) When you get into canning meats, be aware that raw packed meat is much easier/faster to do than hot packing. You can also take chicken legs and can them up, bone in, into quart jars -- might save some butchering steps. I've also got to say kudos for your frozen colostrum! Not many people do that, but it has been very helpful to have it on hand when needed. I've even given some away because of an emergency. Lovely video, really enjoyed your partnership and comraderie. I just subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your adventures.

BTW, I just watched Rain Country dehydrating and powdering her squash/pumpkins. I had several and now am working on that. So easy to store this way and add the nutrition to soups, etc.. I've had a really good time canning Meats these last couple of years. It gives a real sense of peace, knowing that a complete balanced meal is close at hand. All the noodles, potato flakes, rices need a balance of veggies and proteins to promote good health. Breads and jams add a change of pace. Versatility and a variety keeps food boredom from setting in.

Loved your video - thank you for sharing. Watching from New Zealand where like the rest of the world, the past two years have been a challenge. I have put up shelves in our internal access garage and have begun the process of creating a 1-2 year pantry. As you mentioned, this is an ongoing plan - every time I shop I buy extra, veggie in season - freeze, preserve, make pasta sauce, relishes, jams. We also have two refrigerator/freezers in the garage. Still so much to do….and learn to do!

I have canned meats before, especially venison. We ask for ground or stew cut and it up pints. It is tender and delicious. This fall I also put up two batches of 20 pints of ground beef and one of chicken breasts. We make our own dog food, too so being able to grab a can and feed is convenient. I also don’t like to leave too much food in the freezer and winter is a great time to warm the house canning. I watch vids and refer to my ball canning book. Next I want to can meals like chilly, stew, etc.

Being prepared is not hoarding, it is biblical in that God tells us to store up the store houses. Proverbs 21:20 "The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down." Great job!! We've been working on an outdoor kitchen this summer, utilizing propane bottles to bake, fry, etc. We can bring them in if it is too cold outside, as an option. When we have a little extra, it goes to prepping.

Also, keeps critters out if the get into your house. Canned meat is awesome and worth the work. Canning is exhausting but very nice to have. You are doing great with your storage. From our 49 years of food storage , there is one suggestion I can make. Your yeast will last the longest if you find a little room in your wonderful freezers. The best way to store yeast is to keep sealed bags in the freezer. Of course, you will also have one bag that is not sealed because you are using that one. Your wonderful homemade breads, made with your home ground wheat flour and your carefully grown and prepared herbs and tinctures will help to keep your children healthy. Fewer doctor bills will be your wonderful reward. Also, some things like hand cranked radios need to be cranked regularly to keep their “power” available. Be sure to read and follow your instructions. You really are doing great. Keep up the fantastic work you are doing. And, thank you for sharing.

He is 66 and I’m 62. I have been his sole caregiver. I have just recently been able to slowly start buying 1 or 2 extra things a month. Found a used Excalibur 9 tray dehydrator last year on One Man's Junk for $50 that had only been used a time or two! God is good! So much to learn and am in the process of planning out a medicinal garden. Where do you purchase all your plants or seeds like echinacea for medicinal use? Thank y'all so much for all the videos!

@@TheMacs1 Thanks for the encouragement! It means a lot. My cousin has a pond like y’all. We’ve agreed to stick together through this, especially if SHTF!) I’m always adding to my pantry (I’ll always go pickup what’s free on Ibotta to put away. And I have a lot of dehydrated & freeze-dried stuff. I was supposed to learn to make jam & can it several weeks ago, but the elderly lady had a heart issue before my visit. So I’m waiting for her to stabilize. I’m anxious to start canning, though, so I might use our local cannery (cheap to the public to can food & process meat-they provide tin cans & your bring your own glass jars. It’s 30¢/glass jar and if you use their aluminum, it’s 65¢ for veggies & 70¢ for meat) til I go visit her. I’m focusing right now on always adding more food, ammo & basics (a camping clothes “washer”, legit washboard, clothesline, clothespins or clips & clothes drying rack(s)), but I am really at the supplying energy stage right now. I want a Generator.

I loved this video. I am an urban gardener and when I first bought my place 2 years ago I just didn't think there was enough room to grow much of a garden. But my husband and I turned different parts of the yard that were going unused into garden areas and we are growing a ton of food every year-and still have room for the dogs to run around on the grass. If you put your mind to it you find places. I love water bath canning and dehydrating-thanks for your video

You will get it Misty, I don't live on a farm so I end up with my meat Frozen but I do a lot of that in the winter time when it's a little cooler and not so much pressure from the garden. I can see where you'd want to do your chickens and things immediately instead.. you will get it figured out. You guys look really good. I have to start my journey on dehydrating I have just always canned and froze. I would like to freeze dry but that's just plain nut in the budget right now

You can use Raspberry leaf tea for diarrhea from medicines and viruses. Use about as much as would equal the amount in a store bought tea bag. It's very safe for children and babies, just dilute for them. I've used it for my family (my kids and grand kids) for almost 40 years.

Here is an easy way to dehydrate foods with little water content - like most herbs - parsley, garlic, onions , flowers etc Get a few brown paper sacks - toss them in (don't stuff them) put them in the attic or trunk or your car through the summer months until they get crispy to touch- and bam- you have a homemade dehydrator. If your oven will set 110 - you can also use your oven - if the degree goes up over 120- you can still dry your foods but may diminish some of the nutritional value

Since our last child has married and moved out 😭, I am going to make half of his large closet into storage/pantry. My husband is retired from 39 years in law enforcement and it was stressed to his Troopers to keep extra wound care and part of that was to keep feminine hygiene pads to use in place of gauze. We can protect ourselves and all three of our sons and their families. We plan on buying a second gun safe in the next few months.
