She calls it a "starter" homestead but what they have built is pretty impressive! It's very trendy to homestead but it's a trend I can get behind.

Thanks you Jessica for your homestead tour. What a beautiful set up you have. I can’t wait for the cheese recipe to come on Cilla’s channel. I spend a lot of time in hospital battling cancer and I love watching homestead vlogs and dream about having my own. No matter where you live you can make small changes to have a few things that encourage being more self sufficient. We have a garden but we also extended my parents garden so we could grow more things as a family. They taste better and when you know what you are eating you feel better. If you have a very small space the vertical tower gardens are amazing. I always say go to local farm stands and farmers markets. It’s the tiny little actions they help you feel more confident about having a beautiful homestead that Jessica does. Thanks Asa and Jessica for the tour of the garden but also of your food storage.💜

So much respect for your mom!! And I agree...mom needs a channel. Just do what she does daily with a tripod and camera on her. No words really needed unless she wants to speak. Your Mom’s Food Storage reminds me of my childhood. During the summer every year my Mom and Aunts and My Grandma would be canning everything in the garden. From Tomatoes to Peppers, Pickles, Peaches, apricots, and so on. My favorite was when my mom would use mrs. Wages salsa, oh that stuff is so good. Unfortunately my Grandma passed away a few years ago and my mother is in her 70s and is showing signs of dementia/Alzheimer’s so it’s hard for her to remember how she used to do things. As for me I’m still learning. I’ve learned how to can homemade cranberry sauce and homemade blueberry sauce, it’s delicious. I will definitely check out the video of Priscilla making the homemade mayonnaise. Thank you for sharing your Mother’s Homestead.

Tame rabbit is awesome we have a 22 acre farm and we raised rabbits for awhile they are very easy to raise and multiply like crazy, lol. We have black angus, 5 hoses and 15 goats. And you are right it is so nice to be self sufficient and be able to grow and raise your own food. It is so rewarding. And the meat and vegetables you raise yourself are so much better than any store bought and you know what you are eating it’s not pumped full of steroids and antibiotics it’s so much healthier!!! One thing I realize as I research homesteading is you really do not need a lot of land. Most videos I have watch, they own less than 5 acres. I was originally going to buy 20-40 acres out west but realize I do not need all that land plus it is hard to grow out west without importing so much topsoil and whatnot to grow what you want. I'm currently looking for 4-5 acres of land to start.

Awe..you made me homesick, Asa. I was born and raised in NC. We raised almost everything we ate...plant and animal. So did most everyone I grew up with. We didn't call it "homesteading" back then. It was simply our way of life. It kills me when I hear people talk about farm to table like it's something somebody recently just came up with off the top of their head. I never tasted any vegetable that came from a can until I moved away from home. And the only meat we purchased was chicken because we raised our own beef and pork.
