You may not regard yourself as a professional but one thing I love about your tool series is the obvious depth of your product knowledge, highlighted by the benefit of your hands-on experience when you're explaining each tool. :) _(versus the reviews from some folk, even well known ones, where it sometimes feels like they only just learned it...)_

I don't like giving a review until have had some serious hands-on time. Otherwise, it's not a review!

To me, the biggest reason I got a siding/fencing gun instead of just putting shorter nails in my framing gun, is because the siding nails are a much thinner gauge which means they are less likely to split apart Hardi-Board and for fence boards it's less likely to spit the end grain open. Also, the framing guns are much more powerful. They hit with a much harder punch that could cause damage, even if the depth setting is adjusted.

I chose the N75C-1 for framing, sheathing, siding and fencing. Dewalt and Bostitch have identical guns in the N66, N75 and most other versions due to being under the same corporation but the N75 can use 1-1/2" to 3" nails that are slightly heavier gauge. They both weigh the same and have removable rubber tips for siding and interior planking. The N75 excels at framing and sheathing over foam board, which requires longer nails. My old 3-1/2" strip nail framing gun weighs 12 lbs so this 5 lb'er is a pleasure to use and holds 3 times the number of nails.

Good information. 1- framing nailer, 2 - roofing nailer, 3- siding nailer, for a frame carpenter. Lots of houses use different types of siding and we used vinyl most so I put the roofing nailer first. If your a trim carpenter then the fininh nailer first and the pinner next. I did a lot of cabinet work and the narrow crown stapler works great and for soffit and fascia it works great with stainless steel staples. In reality if your going to build houses, you need them all.

you can buy a sky hook and add it to the framing nailer they also have them for the worm drive saws as well. my hitachi framing nailer has a siding foot i added on so you don't mar siding and it controls depth as well.

I find now with the new building codes and hurricane construction I am lucky to get 2 houses out of a framing gun. With the older all metal ones I could triple that. s I even had a few older ones rebuilt and they lasted longer than a new ones.

Really learned a lot. I have never had a nail gun. If I have that kind of project I always call my BIL who did construction professionally for years. After learning more I think I should be buying myself a brad nailer at the least.

I am building a DiY vertilap fence and considering a pneumatic nail gun to fasten the panels to the 2x4 top and bottom rails. I was set to trigger on the metabo framing gun NR90AES1 for less than $200 then I learnt from your video that there is such a thing as a siding nail gun. Hitachi has a siding nail gun too but it is way too expensive for a weekend warrior like myself. If I had to buy just one nail gun for this project, would you say a framing gun is the one? Great video - informative and entertaining.

I KNEW there was a good story that went along with those wood dowels on the back of the bench!! Thanks....they are good looking rod holders! How about air compressors for the larger framing and siding guns vs., the brad nailers and staplers? Or did I miss that part? Seems the larger guns would need a larger compressor? And how about the angle differences on the framing gun? I know there are different angle degrees but I don't understand why. Great video brother....as usual!! Off to bed now....WAYYY past my bed time!!!! Tip of my hat to Gina and Miss Olivia!!

So, the pancake compressor you have, carries enough pressure and recovers fast enough for the larger tools?
@BrianBriCurInTheOC

Use three drops of oil BEFORE you use the tool. When the air compressor compresses air, moisture builds up in the air tank. This moisture harms the tools, the oil helps to reduce the damage.

If you push the safety nose back and spin that wheel by the trigger you’ll notice that it just sets the depth of the nail by adjusting the nose not the airflow. That’s on your compressor.

I have one of these that I use for fencing. It's a great product and works fantastically the only complaint I have is that mine refuses to feed and fire the last 5 nails off a roll. I don't know if this is just mine or whether they all do it, but it kinda infuriates me as it's wasting my money. Only a very small amount of money for sure, but it's a waste none the less.

try tools-plus.com for the N66C-1 and N75C-1 guns. They have some of the best prices I've found and free shipping. If you ever might need a framing gun go with the N75C-1. It can shoot 1-1/2" to 3" nails. The N66C-1 shoots 1-1/4" to 2-1/2". Both have depth adjustment and rubber tips for delicate work. I highly recommend you use the single fire ( sequential) triggers that come with them instead of the bump fire for anything but sheathing jobs.

Would the siding nail gun work on cedar shakes as siding? I am going to be replacing a couple of courses to redo some porch roofing, and it will be vastly easier (as you surely know) to use a nailer. Also, what sort of compressor do you use? I have a small one for my finish nailer, and I am not sure if it is good for much. (I am not at home and forget the rating.)
