i’m 21 and married with one baby and i really struggle every single day. My dream is to have a big family, cook from scratch, garden etc but it feels almost impossible to even imagine. But you inspire me. Your home radiates love and unity. I would love to hear you talk more about motherhood and the journey, what you’ve learned.

Going from 0 to 1 child is a huge learning curve and change. I had the same sentiments as you with just one. Now, having two children I actually do MORE homemaking and food from scratch and somehow it is easier. Give yourself a lot of grace and know that you’ll go through seasons of being able to do more or sometimes less and that’s fine. As the previous commenter said, step by step. God bless you!

Find some female (or male) friends to help you get adult conversations. I thought I would go insane during my maternity leave. There is only so much talking you can do to your baby who does not respond. Pick one thing you would like to accomplish in a week. Focus on that. If it takes two weeks because your baby is fussy, okay. Life is pretty fluid. Once you have accomplished that task, pick a new one. Slowly but surely, you will become the person you want to be.

I love your views, it doesn’t kill a kid to have a cup of coffee n it’s so true it’s a memory that they’ll share with their kids. Kinda sad that you have to say that your boy did eat more then what was before him because someone out there is going to say something negative. You have a great week looking forward to the next video!

Jessica, you and your husband are wonderful parents. I noticed that children prayed before eating. Giving your children chores that need to be done everyday is what keeps most children out of trouble. David (I think that was his name) learning Japenese is spectacular. The oldest son (I forgot his name😉) taking college courses. Feeding the younger children a small meal before breakfast really does help younger children stay alert. Green tea has many positive benefits. I drink green tea 2-3 times a week. I also drink peppermint inbetween. One can drink green tea daily. All of your children are special in that they have loving parents who want the best for them. I work in health care. When I saw your daughter's anatomy and physiology books it took me back high school and then my college years. No matter what your children want to do in life they should also include at least one foreign language...two if possible. Blessings to you all. 🤗

I love the name y'all choose for the new puppy! She is going to be a big dog. When you said Sarah Jane, it immediately made me think of the Grandma's Attic book series. If you haven't read them before, I think your younger children might enjoy them. Good clean 1800- early 1900 story. My mom read them to me as a child and I read them to my children! Thank you for sharing "A morning in the life of Jessica" I've often wondered how you do it! 😊

I have 3 families of grandchildren that I help take care of each week. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This past weekend I took care of 5 plus their dog while the older two went with their parents to a homeschool conference 3 hrs away. I love playing games with them and I consider it a blessing to spend so much time. It is not time wasted but hopefully time spent that will reap a huge harvest. In all honesty though I do get good tired.

[Stephen’s wife, Laura] As a newer believer coming from dysfunction and the out of the world, and a new-again mom of two littles after being born again, learning all the right things to do as a parent with following the Lord and His Word, cooking clean, homesteading and homeschooling and teaching all these things to my girls, it’s so hard. Seeing an example like yours, nearly brings me to tears of thankfulness because sometimes I just can’t grasp how to coordinate all this! Thank you so much for sharing in all the transparency. I didn't see where you are exiting from to get to the cellar, but maybe another option if they are somewhat close to one another is to make an outdoor enclosure that connect the upstairs exit and the cellar door. Often ppl do that to make an enclosed entry to a downstairs apartment, especially in areas that have snow. It can be simple, and tying into the aesthetics of the house's exterior, or it can be made with glass and doubling as a solarium type "hallway"... where you could put plants, or seating like benches for a sort of mudroom.... but again, not sure if there is an upstairs exit close by to make this a possibility.

@@threerivershomesteadmaybe also to go with the spiral stairs have a pulley and rope system to bring up the "shopping bag" so as to be less cumbersome going up the narrow stairs. Just pull it up after back up top. Or have children pull bag up while you shop. Fewer (and safer) trips up and down for you too.

Good morning Jessica. Spring gardening is going strong here in south Alabama. Potatoes, spring peas, onions & garlic are all sending up shoots. Raised herb beds have been been refreshed. Something I didn't know was that if we only cut the head of cabbage out & leave the outer leaves and the roots in the ground they will grow new heads. We are on the 3rd harvest on them. The heads are getting smaller so this may be our last crop before replanting. But, the real news is that we are still going strong with the pantry challenge. Having a well stocked pantry & freezer is a necessity for us.

Two things: I so agree. I watch preschool children I’m a grandma daycare. I can’t believe how much learning is play. People get worried about making sure their littles get preschooled. All littles need is to be fed and loved and to play. Two is that it really is a joy to hear you talk about how much you value and appreciate each member of your family. That will provide your kids with everything they need to be self sufficient, self reliant and self assured. It really is that simple: being valued and loved by a parent is literally everything.

Hey there Jessica! I admire all your work and love your videos. I wanted to suggest as a Japanese learner who has studied abroad in Japan that you look into the book set called “Genki” it’s a great follow along, easy to learn from grammar addition that would greatly benefit your son! Also a recommendation, if you have a local library, sometimes they offer kids books in Japanese that would be great to borrow. I have done this and it feels amazing to have read a book. Even if it is a silly kids book. Best wishes to you and your wonderful family!

You and your family are an incredible blessing, Jessica! I always leave your videos feeling inspired and encouraged! You are my absolute favorite channel! I know you’ve gotten most (or perhaps all?) your head coverings from Garlands of Grace. I was curious what width you typically get? I’m new to head covering and am still figuring out what works for me!

You are such an inspiration. You get more done in a morning than I usually get done in an entire day (in my lazy defense, my husband and I are retired and we have just one high-school aged son at home who goes to the local Catholic high school so it's just the 2 of us home all day).

What an amazing family you have. I love how everyone works together as one to help where needed. Also the bond the kids are building with each other is so precious. I can see the huge benefits of homeschooling vs sending them off to have others educate them. Maybe many years ago outside education was a good choice but nowadays it’s so much different. Teachers are teaching kids things that I as a parent would never approve of and the bullying and violence is unbelievable. I have seen young adults who can’t even put a sentence together and yet they are continuously getting promoted to the next level. Great job to you all ❤
