By the way, I am seriously impressed with the young women, like yourself, creating channels which inspire woman to be homemakers. When I would tell people I was a homemaker (you know...back when the wheel was invented), people would look at me (especially other women) like I had just grown a third eye or something. They instantly assumed I was lazy and stupid. Would it have helped if they knew I graduated high school with a 4.0 and college with a 3.8? Probably not, because then they would have considered it a waste of my abilities. My husband and I have never regretted our decision to have me take up my job as homemaker to raise our children. Even though our children are adults now, my husband still loves me being a homemaker and a homesteader. I also have a wood shop on our property. I guess that business degree came in handy after all!😁

@victoriabec, I’m in the same category as you. My “babies” are 42 and 46 now. I really intended to return to work as a medical laboratory scientist after my first baby was born. Even though I myself am from a large family, I was unprepared for the intense love and bonding I felt with my children. I knew that any competent scientist could replace me in the lab, but, in my home I was unreplaceable. And no, we were not wealthy. My husband and I had similar standards to those expressed in this video and even 40+ years ago it was very hard going against the grain. I can’t imagine how hard it must be now with the incredible array of distractions outside our homes. I don’t regret the choices we made at all. We all have to make the best choices for our families.

@@susanfreeman6350 I'm so very happy for you and your family! I am now a grandma of 7 and I have not had one single day of regret about staying at home with my children. I thank God for the opportunity! I am still at home since my husband and I have a homestead and I have a woodshop. God is still providing!

Thank you for being a godly mother. Raising up arrows to go into the world with strong values and the fear of the Lord. We need much more of that! I’m an empty nester, my boys are grown and out of the house. I stay away from all of the things you mentioned in your video. We are called to be set apart, honoring The Lord how we live our lives. 🙌 Thank you!

AMAZING!!! As a mom of 7 (now all grown), I shared some of these same values, I only wished I did more! We never celebrated Halloween, We never did sleepovers, We had a strict rule of no crazy play, hands to ourselves, and quiet time before bed. Just to mention a few.

Yes, heavy ending but so important too. Thank you for all of these! We don't do most of these as well and so it was really encouraging to watch this! Your family is standing up for what is good for your children and personal family function, not what is popular or cultural. Somethings we don't do... We don't get up at a specific time in the morning. I have Adrenal Fatigue and sometimes need to rest more and sometimes my kids do too. So I don't wake them up unless we need to go or do something time sensitive. And we usually have later mornings but it works for us and our young children. We don't allow our kids to use public bathrooms by themselves. Better safe than sorry... my heart breaks for the many hurt children. We don't always have dessert after a meal or even once a day. Juice or fruits really help give the body that sweetness it needs if we feel we want it. We don't buy checkout chelf candy. It's really not food by definition and we teach our kids that. Sometimes they still get some, like at the 4th of July Independence parade. But we like to make our own candies and foods that we can trust. We don't give allowances. Our home functions as a teamwork not a business style. And it helps teach responsibility better. When they have their own home, no one is going to give them money for washing their own dishes. But we do teach consequences, there's good ones and bad ones for all our choices. So if a job is well done there are definitely good things that happen and thankful praise too. Owning their own chores really helps too. They seem to enjoy the fact that it's theirs. We don't always make them share. If appropriate, like the toy is theirs and the other child has lots else to play with and just wants it because the owner is playing with it. They must ask politely to play with it and the owner can say "yes" or "no" nicely back. If it doesn't belong to the 1st player we teach taking turns and helping everyone have fun. (I wasn't ever taught that I could say "no" and was taken advantage of in different ways growing up.) Jared Dodd has a good KZbin video explaining why this is important. My husband and I try not to argue/discuss hard things in front of our kids. My parents always said they didn't want to "hide" anything from us... but there's so much a child can't understand and also the child can feel like it's their fault for the arguing or their responsibility to make the peace .... extra. If there's something they do hear, we make sure to let them know we resolved it and are unified again. Unidentified parents give children a huge blessing of peace, security, and love.

Honey….. don’t ever change your ideals!!!! You and your hubby surely are doing the right thing!! I’m impressed by your standards in this day and age we’re living in today!! You will raise much better and stronger children because of it…& please don’t change when they get older and give you grief over your decisions!!! Children don’t always know what’s best for them! You’re the parent! I raised 2 wonderful children who are now raising a family of their own.and they didn’t suffer one bit by how they were raised… it only caused them to use the same guidelines that we used! You’re doing the right thing… no matter how many critical comments you may get. Basically they’re just not strong enough to have them for themselves…. Or only 1 parent is on the wagon… so honey you are blessed!! Keep going…🤩😍❤️👍

Thank you for sharing 🙏 I thought we were old fashioned but it is so refreshing and encouraging to see young family like yours with Godly morals and upbringing 🙏 We have been married for 27 years, God has blessed us with 8 children and we started our life without a tv... No Disney, no movies, no video games, no sleep overs, etc . Now, our older children, who are out of college tell us thank you for spending time with them and teaching them how to live according to Gods word as well as being an example to them. It humbles me every time they tell us that and it gives me more energy to raise the little ones without giving in to wordly ways... God bless you and your family 🙏

I love your rules! I have shared this with family. I agree with all of the 15 rules. The one that I especially love is the no sleepovers one. I raised my children with this rule. They didn’t like it and didn’t agree with it (we had no living grandparents to go on sleepovers with). I would take them to the house for the party and then pick them up for the night to sleep at our home. If they wanted to go back in the morning, I would take them so they could eat breakfast or talk for a few hours. I never gave in to their pleadings to stay overnight. A little while ago I talked to my sister about our “no sleepovers” rule and she told me her daughter was sexually assaulted at one when she was in 5th grade. I had no idea about that. She wished she had had a rule like that for sleepovers. 😔. Thanks for saying what I feel is-and isn’t ok. . It is nice to know other moms believe like I do.

We agree with all of these! My husband and I have 5 daughters, all grown now. One thing we never did is tell our children there was a santa claus. We felt this was completely taking away from the real meaning of Christmas. We told our children that their gifts were from Jesus. When they were old enough to understand, we told them how God had given daddy the ability to do his job, which earned a paycheck, which purchased their gifts. Our girls were absolutely amazed that Jesus would give them a gift on his birthday. Now, they realize the most important gift Jesus gave them...eternal life! Keep in mind, the same kids who will tell your children there is no santa claus and where babies come from, are the same kids who will tell your children there is no God. If we had told them there was a santa claus, which they could see at the local mall then found out he wasn't real, why would they believe in God, which they can not see? We decorated a tree because we were having a birthday party for Jesus...which included a birthday cake. Our children NEVER felt they were missing out. In fact, they can go to God anytime, day or night! They don't have to wait until Christmas to think someone cares.

Such wonderful guidelines to live by. I wish I would have implemented some of those when my children were young. Especially with the outside activities. I felt like we were always spread so thin running each child here and there and my husband taking one of our three and me taking one or both of the other two. Even with being involved in our church activities sometimes like me teaching Awana’s and then trying to be involved with our older daughter in the youth program to our boys playing church basketball. Now that they are all grown I tell them to slow their lives down and enjoy every day because they go by so fast. Thank you for this video. Your are such a wise inspiration to so many young mothers ❤

I admire you for the rules you have shared and for the boldness you have in sharing them for “the world” to pick apart! We were never able to have children, but your comment about the graphic tees and garish colors…🙌🏻 I know it is a common practice to have babies and children surrounded by bold colors, but personally bold colors do NOT resound well with me. I feel almost agitated by them, yet I feel like I am a well rounded individual with the calming colors I choose to surround myself with. With all of the children I have babysat through the years, I feel like they behaved better when they were in adorable classic colors, hair brushed and playing with toys that made them use their imagination than with the crazy colors/graphics, hair askew and playing video games. I know I also responded differently to them, if that makes sense. Like if they were having a bad attitude but looked so sweet and tidy it was easier to not react with a bad attitude myself. I hope that doesn’t make me sound like a horrible person! 🤪 I have a lot of littles that come over for play dates and our playroom is decorated in neutral wood/griege/white/black with a lot of wooden toys. Every child that has ever come to play LOVES our playroom! We don’t have a single brightly colored/noisy/electronic toy. They just use their imaginations!

We are very close on all your “don’t’s”, even though it’s not exact. And I think they are wonderful boundaries that you’ve set for your kids that will help them. ❤ We have four ranging in age from 7yo down to 10 months, and we’ve seen such benefit from limiting screens (we don’t have a TV readily accessible either) and being guarded with their time. Life is busy enough without adding all these stressors that promise life and health but end up being detrimental in the long run. 😵‍💫 Another one that our family has to follow is no refined sugar. One of my daughters has struggled with upper respiratory inflammation for about five years, and we have noticed a direct correlation between her health and acute food consumption-time and time again. You mentioned seed oils, and that’s another that we avidly avoid whenever practical, along with almost all processed food. (I have a gluten intolerance and autoimmune inflammatory things that I have to keep in check as well). It’s hard when there are fun functions and we’re the weird people bringing our own desserts made from honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar 😆 but we keep talking about it honestly as a family and hoping that good habits will set in for all of our kids, and they will see the benefits in their own health in the long run. ❤

Thank you for sharing y'alls perspective on this. I agree with you and think it would be helpful to our kids if we all did more of these things. Kids need to be kids and enjoy childhood more outside in the dirt.

You are a mama with a big heart for your beautiful family. I would respectfully add that although we can plan with our best intentions, God has a unique plan and purpose for each one of us, and for our children. Oftentimes God's path for our children is different from ours, sometimes very different, and it challenges us to remember that they are wonderfully created for a special purpose, for their own journey. Supporting and encouraging our children to realize who they are, regardless of whether or not it aligns with our core values, is our most important role.

Now many years later i married a farmer and have 4 children nothing sweeter then raising children ❤ bless you and your family. I just found your channel i watch it while working out. We don't do more then one sport. We don't do sleepovers either. We support each other we are family. ❤ we look out for each other.

I love the idea of not having a TV, it's so easy to intend to only watch one show and end up watching for hours and losing quality time with family/productive time. I also agree with homeschooling, it's so scary what kids are being exposed to at some schools today not to mention the effect bullying can have on them. We're hoping to homeschool our future children at least through elementary school.

I always swore up and down I wouldn’t raise a picky eater but then my guy had to go on medication and it was traumatic for all of us and it created some serious food/oral aversions that he is still working through. At this point I am just happy when he eats a bite of anything. At 11 months old his palate is still in training and expanding, but I’ve learned quickly that it’s often not as simple as “don’t serve chicken nuggets and they won’t be picky.” I absolutely love to cook and I love to eat so I’m hoping he will too as he continues to grow and gets exposed to new and different foods. Love your videos! 🥰

If I didn't have stepchildren who's mom was all about the opposite of what you're talking about (bright graphic shirts and jackets, constant screen time, fast food, pop music, etc.) I would parent as you're describing. I have two young daughters (2 and 3) and it breaks my heart to see some of what they're learning from their siblings (7 and 8) but I know that God's hand is on them and its teaching me to release ungodly control over their lives and my house. My husband is a man of God and constantly pouring into their hearts. I can't help but feel compassion for my stepkids in how they must be feeling with parents who believe and parent in such contrasting ways.

I agree with everything there personally and thanks for sharing it. We don't own a TV and oh, the peace and quiet is wonderful ☺️ we do use netflix and Amazon but watch much less than average I think. I've recently moved to home ed too. It's because of my son's sensory processing issues but I'm also very pleased to have him away from the negative aspects of being in a mainstream school. We're making an effort to keep up his friendships and it's all working really well.
