We moved out to Canada's east coast in 2023. Tilled up a garden which produced satisfactorily...then, in the fall of '23 I built 3 raised gardens...the cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, green and yellow beans exploded...our pantry is full and we have 4 freezers full of meat, potatoes and veggies...so satisfying being self-sufficient...

That’s awesome, reminds me of the massive gardens my family had while I was growing up. I grew up in the country but moved to the city for work, which was ok but didn’t really enjoy it. So plan on moving back to the country once I have enough money set aside.

Thank you for sharing this awesome video and i have thought about to buy me a 6-acre homestead but i can´t afford it but it is a dream and if you want to do it you need to have the means to pay for it and have the means to have extra money for repairs and emergencies. Things will break and things need to be replaced no matter what and you also need to have a good plan and have a couple of backup plans too. And the mistake many do when they get themselves a homestead is that they after a while realize that the homesteading life is to tough and hard so they give it up. I think you need to be mentally prepared and have a genuine interest for it. Because that kind of life is not for everyone. I have shared this video out and a 👍as usual.

Like your point. Too many here in this mountain community of several hundred we live in, scrape enough money together to purchase property....then don't have anything left over to build with. They didn't count the cost of drilling a water well, solar, and all the stuff you need for a garden, chickens or goats. When they do get livestock of any kind, the predators (lions, wolves and coyotes) start decimating rather quickly. Seen my share of these folks spool it all up and return to the city
@ShadowScoutSwedeАй бұрын
@@r.f.pennington746 I agree with you about that one.

Homesteading really is a commitment-having a backup plan (or two) is crucial, and being mentally prepared for the hard work can’t be overlooked. Appreciate you spreading the word!
@reliableprepper12 күн бұрын
@r.f.pennington746 That’s a great point about people underestimating the costs and challenges. Between predators, wells, and the basic infrastructure, it all adds up. Better to plan ahead than to learn the hard way.

It definitely takes a community to survive. Everything is a compromise. Hopefully we won't let each other down. We'll need to unite to fight off the common enemy that's already here. Get ready, it's coming.

You’re absolutely right-it really does take a community to survive in tough times. Working together and staying united is the only way to handle the challenges ahead. How have you been preparing for what’s coming?

The BIGGEST Obstacles are going to be: *People are Completely out of Shape! *Lack of KNOWLEDGE and experience! *The Demands of the Farm/Ranch Life! Up at or before sun up and going to bed well after Dark! *Seven day weeks! * Kids will be doing the same! An that's just to Start!

Jesse, you’ve nailed it-those are all huge challenges for anyone stepping into a farm or ranch lifestyle. The physical demands alone are enough to shock most people, not to mention the knowledge and constant work it takes. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but for those who stick with it, it can be incredibly rewarding. How’s everything going with you these days?

Does freedom come at a cost? Yes. Many have died to make sure we have the freedoms we have today. Whats a greater cost than life?

Not all your neighbors will be helpful. Some will be unreliable. Others may not be interested in mutual aid and cooperation. Rural areas are full of Lone Rangers. Some may think that their firepower is a substitute for self-sufficiency and plan to take what they need from those who produce. Human nature remains the same regardless of acreage.
@reliableprepperАй бұрын
That’s so true-human nature doesn’t change, whether you’re in a rural area or a city. It’s a tough reality that not everyone will be on the same page when it comes to cooperation or preparedness. You’re right; community and having your own solid plan are essential to navigating that.
