There'd be no purpose in going through so much trouble to have Karkat and Kanaya live this long, discuss meeting Jade's denizen, et cetera if they were really going to receive such sudden, anticlimactic deaths. The meta makes certain developments patently unbelievable, and meta analysis is always important.

Brittany Rose Huh? My point was that Karkat and Kanaya CAN'T die so pointlessly after having survived so much. They survived until now for a reason, and will continue to; this is almost certainly a doomed timeline, an existing mechanic in this comic where deaths which *can't be allowed to occur yet* can happen temporarily and be reversed.

yeah i'm like 80% sure now that all of Gamzee's bullshit- while still inexcusable- was the product of some form of Multiple Personality Disorder... It was a defense mechanism, cause at his core Gamzee's a bit of a coward. His friends mean everything to him, and seeing Tav's legs sawed off gave him a glimpse of what he'd been hiding from his own consciousness for so long- the fact of his friends' mortality. And that being surfaced brought with it the knowledge he'd also hidden that even if they survived they'd be dead long before him (what with the hemospectrum lifespans). At that point the only thing holding him together was his religion- after all, miracles can fix anything, right? so when Dave destroyed that for him (sending that music video that made it painfully obvious to him how foolish his beliefs were), he pretty much shattered Gamzee's only tie he had left to sanity. He always believed that his 'Mirthful Messiahs' would save him, so he subconsciously became them through alternate personalities. Karkat could calm him because his friends mean the world to him even then, but for the most part the Messiahs were a way for him to escape from everything, to get rid of everyone before he could get hurt more, while never actually being 'himself' and thus not to blame for their deaths. He saw how wrong he was post-freakout. after that, he left, and found Cal(lie). his mind was still fragile, especially having left his friends, and clung to whatever it could find- surely THESE had to be his Messiahs? after all, they even seem similar- one more mild, the other loud and violent.. He committed himself to Caliborn's will in a desperate cling to what little he had left, wearing himself down more and more with time. I think he killed Karkat when he saw him now because he knew Karkat could calm him, could make him face what he had become (whether his intention was to make him guilty or not) so before even giving himself a chance to get close again, he 'got rid of his problem', ridding himself of the one person (troll?) he knew that could REALLY make him face his own decisions. By the time this happened, his Mirthful Messaih personalities had taken a lot of control, his own true self slowly eroding from the pain of what happened to him and what he was causing trying to escape it (which only caused him to try harder to, and thus cause even worse things, and make a vicious cycle). by the time he killed Karkat, there was barely a shell of the TRUE Gamzee left. After having murdered his friend- after looking into his EYES, into his face riddled with pain and betrayal as his BEST FRIEND died at /his/ hands..... what little was left of him died. The dual face was The Messaihs. The dual face was the only thing left of the lovable clown we once knew. It was canon for a while that clowns can't die, but (at least how i'm reading into this), Gamzee was /dead/ a LONG time ago. Kanaya did him a kindness. She brought him a peace he never thought he'd feel again.

+Kayceesprite That was a really cool explanation, but there's one small mistake: Gamzee wasn't mad because Dave sent the ICP music video. That music video wouldn't have made it "painfully obvious" that the miracles were fake, because he would have agreed with the music video. He was actually mad because when he was watching the kid's universe, he saw how his OWN universe was made (via frog). He liked the mystery of it, which made it seem "miraculous". With the knowledge of how the universe's creation there was no "miracles" and thus nothing for him to believe in.

Great video! I don't think it's a doomed timeline though. I think something's up. For example, I don't think Jack and PM would be putting Jade on her quest bed unless it would cause some obscure event that only sprites or entities of the game know about. Like Rose and Dave going godtier in Derse's moon: we didn't know that was an option until it happened. So I think Jade and Dave will be coming back to life. That's my theory.

I think this timeline was split and doomed on that point where John zapped in on jade and Dave's conversation, and started changing things there. That page when Dave was saying to John how it feels like John messed everything up by being there. I'm pretty sure the stardust glitches were always supposed to be there, and John did windy thign them away

"i love how absolutely no one considers the possibility that karkat and kanaya may be dead for good." and it's interesting how gamzee is really going after everyone with the heaviest "plot armor" kanaya, karkat.... and gamzee himself (i know no timeline where ithe clown dies) he's certainly not trying to stop kanaya. he's pushing towards "doomed" or even more, "non-alpha" pretty hard. pure specultion / possibility ahead because we don't know what's going through the clown's head..... but it seems like this is setting up a situation where what john does will just have to happen, and maybe even have to work. and he does serve both mirthful messiahs.... edit: and this does kind of serve john and jade back for dave sprite and dream rose now hopefully they all "get" it more equally.

Should anything be read into the fact that [S] Game Over is titled 'Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 3' and the next update is apparently 'Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 3'? Since at least a few characters survived Game Over it's probably just a continuation, but worth noting this is an intermission and not actually an Act, which supports the doomed timeline idea.

OMG This updat BLOW my mind cuz it's not doomed guys they have every thing they need to win they only need 4 Grist hoards for the frog they have 4 still alive note that in the flash none of the alive kids plaits were damaged. The battl feld is still good. Black King's Scepter is still the only unknown and the Genesis Frog can still be saved by Ectobiology or by Jade or Calliope. Also 4 Pre-scratch kids 4 Post-scratch kids 4 alive kids 4 dead kids 4 for the main acts and 4 for INTERMISSION Sorry for the bad English.

So, john is stuck out of cannon, is he just moving between timelines, or is he still in his own timeline? Cause I think this is the alpha timeline, but john is messing with it on accident in a way that can doom it without causing paradox. I think what's going to happen is when he returns from this latest "zap" he will be able to undo everything we just witnessed and un-doom the timeline.

Perhaps you're right, whereas time shenanigans can lead to doomed timelines when messing with events that dictate the linear progression of the Alpha timeline, John can have this occur without such consequence -- hence his zappings "changing" the canon in previous panels. John is our only hope!

You know i think like you say John will save the day, at the beggining i thinked he was dead, and i was waiting for it because hey andrew hussie likes to kill characters LOL. But there's is one panel back when he mets roxy, that another john appear and force him to meet her. I think he will learn how to zap and oooo boy things will go crazy xD. i think he is out of cannon. That means that he can move at any point in time and space and even outside of it. In the end there are various options of how things will come now, but my main theories are right now. We will see a mega MEGA plot house made by mister john egbert to save the day. Or we will wait to see soo much more deaths (if even possible) and see a futuristic version of john egbert kicking asses (ala Lord English lol) Meh if not he could save andrew hussie of the comic and just erase Lord english of the game, or made the game nor existing

James Slade The difference between "this is a doomed timeline" and "this is a flawed alpha timeline that John will change causality to correct" is merely technical. Narratively, they're almost exactly the same. Anyone with access to time devices, like Aradia's timeboxes on Gamzee's body, would be able to do the same thing as John in terms of resetting this offshoot.

If I'm correct, Kanaya has yet to be resurrected, so she still has her dream self. But her body was disintegrated so she cant get kissed back to life. But wait, can't she still come back? I know Dirk got beheaded and his dream self came back. Gah, I so confused. But I do know that Karkat can't come back unless this is a doomed timeline. As far as I'm concerned, Gamzee can come back because he still has a dream self. Terezi isn't dead yet and neither is Rose but Jade and Dave can't come back. Jade's dream self already died and then her god tier self died. Dave's death was heroic. Jake's death was Heroic. And Jane's was just. So if I'm right, we only have Aradia, Sollux, Terezi, Rose, John, Dirk, Roxy, and maybe Kanaya and Gamzee. . . . Remind me to never try and analyze Homestuck ever again, please. My brain hurts.
