For those who may be interested, the island of Ibiza is named after him, the name means "island of Bes". He is generally accepted to have been worshipped in the parts of Spain that were influenced by carthaginians, but statues of him have been found as far north as Ullastret and Emporion, iberian and greek cities respectively, relatively near the modern border between spain and france on the mediterranean side.

@efemzyekun900

Did you hear about Egbére whilst in Africa? Its short and always holds a mat. If you are able to fight it and defeat it and collect its mat, you will become stinkingly rich, if only you can resist its cries and please for you to give it back for 7 days. If you refuse to give it back, your wealth will be unlimited but if you cave in and have mercy and return the mat, untold misfortunes will fall on you. According to legend, almost nobody has been able to resist its cries...if any has, it's also a legend.

@efemzyekun900
@efemzyekun900 4 жыл бұрын
@@thedarksideoftheforce6658 it's not a god in Africa, but an Orisha. In Africa, we have only one God and He is unseen and invincible. But this Egbére is more or less like an evil spirit or evil Orisha...I wouldn't know how to summon such vile spirit, nor would I care to, but years ago in my 1 year of senior high, myself and a few mates were in the thick black forest behind my school, the kind of forest that looks like night fall in the height of noon. We were getting bamboo planks to build our inter-house sport huts, when we saw an African star apple tree, whose fruits is has a sweet sour taste and a delicacy to us kids and climbed it to pluck its fruits...lo and behold, we suddenly saw these extremely short, demonic looking beings with breast and exposed phalluses, shout at us in a strange grotesque voice...My brother, the way we all ran that day, from the bush, which was almost a half a kilometers from the school compound, not even Hossain Bolt or Ben Johnson could catch up with us...till date, I still shudder with fear, when I recollect that image. They were 5 in number, with a basket and two were female, with tiny demons strapped at their backs with strings made of rubber tree....this was sometimes in the 1990s, because I remember that the Italian 1990 world cup was holding then. When we got to the school compound, the teachers had no reason to disbelieve us, because the looks on all our faces, told it all, our expression of utter fear and despair, could only be activated by an encounter with hell. This is a true life story and I personally was there.

@Massimo Luca its possible they are the same creature Massimo Luca...Africa is truly a lovely place. Most of our legends and folklore are borne out of realities. My great uncle in the village is a legendary hunter...on his days in the town, when the hunting seasons are over, I remember as a kid sitting around him, during the moonlight and hear him tell esoteric stories of his escapades and exploits in the deep forests of Africa, with his fellow hunters, and their encounters with all sorts of Animals. He is late now and may God bless his soul.

EfemzyEkun you have wonderful stories, and you tell them well. In just a few short paragraphs you brought my mind into a different place. Please consider creating a platform on KZbin or otherwise (books, tv, film) to flesh them out and tell more. Monetize it if you will, but get them out. I’d even advise to call on your late uncle, and whom ever else you may need for assistance. Blessings

Literally almost every religion you see today has African Origins. In fact go to Egypt and look on walls an you'll see where judaism, christianity, and islam plagiarized their supposed "revelations". There were no religions in Africa prior to the supposed abrahamic "religions", there was only spirituality in Africa; spirituality based on the observations of nature and it's laws, basically science. Im not really an expert, but i did study Egyptology and Archaeology and Bes is one of my favorite gods to look into. How different he look from other gods has long had scholars believing he is a southern import to Egypt. Also one of his titles is The lord of Punt, the exact location of which is hotly debated but two of the most common ideas are Somalia and Ethiopia. So it is not unlikely that Bes is from there. One of the unique things about him is that his is never shown in profile but always directly from the front. Gods are almost never shown this way in Egyptian art. And interestingly he is never referred to as a nṯr( the Egyptian word we often translate as God), he appears to be in a different category. He also frequently lives in the temples of other gods, particularly in Temples to Isis and Hathor. I haven't heard the idea that he represents a particular African people before but the Egyptians definitely had a tradition of magical dwarves and of considering pygmies magical and amusing as well. One of the things you didn't mention is that amulets of him are one the most common of all artifacts found in ancient Egypt, only scarabs and Schabtis (Ushabtis) are more common. One of most common beliefs about him is that he protects pregnant woman and newborns, and one of the few preserved tattoos that exist from ancient Egypt is a Bes tattoo, i believe on a royal womans thigh but im not sure.

So since he isn't called NTr what does that mean?? Bes is older then that with all of the duties he carries. Its older pottery in the south with Bes he isn't a somali god. But an african one even the Phoenician island was named after him. His depiction is a twa for a reason and the people also honored them. The pottery he was on was in Naqqada 2 which is before KMT was established.

Bes was in harthors temple because he us bigger and older. He also assists multiple other gods who came later. He also journeys around with Set and was combined with set. That's how old the deity is but overall he is a african interior deity. That was worshipped by many.

You will find images of Bes in almost every ancient culture. He sits in the center of the Mayan calendar ( with his nose removed). HTH probably didn’t want to say this because it’s not confirmed among scholars but you can google it and see for yourself... Bes exists all over the globe right at the dawn of civilization. That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw him, although there doesn’t seem to be a connection with death in Bes’s profile and it’s widely agreed the protruding tongue is likely representing swelling related to death on the Aztec calendar there does seem to be a very striking similarity in their depictions.

No one is equal, I respectfully disagree with your claim that no one can be superior to another. There is many people who are far more superior than me when it comes to the skills and subjects that I don't understand, yet I am always inclined to understand and be captivated by those who hold a better significant difference than me. Yet it always isn't knowledge based, it can also extend to physical differences. If I'm playing a sport such as Basketball, height is superior and brings the benefits of strength and defense, yet if you lack height it can also be a benefit, this does not mean that we are equal. It means that differences, including other perspectives, make us better and great as a people. Not everyone is equal, everyone is superior to someone in some way, and everyone is inferior to someone in some way. It's just the way the world works, yet if we accept all differences and seek to understand all perspectives, it leads to a iconic greatness. Don't get your media/socialistic ideology into the mix. It just leads to irrationality and you eventually lose the willingness to understand other meaningful perspectives. I firmly believe difference is great, but saying everyone is equal is irrational and has no logical basis.

Baset was mentioned directly , Bes is underlying . Just so happens Angela Bassett was cast as Queen mother . Bes and Baset masculine and feminine . At the root of the Arabic word Abbas is Bas for Lion like Abbasid and Abyssinia Lion at root . Lion and Falcon when we get into Akkadian bazz (Bas , Bes) means Falcon/Hawk . He is one of my absolute favorites. I have an image of him tattooed on my leg. Bes, neith, and min r my favorite. And yes he had many different names. I think the Celtic * green man or beli mwar might also be him. But leprechauns r a representation of bes too. The fact that his is depicted facing forward in reliefs, means that he is not from Egypt.

Bes isn't short. The statues show that. He was a giant. A fellow researcher once told me he was an ancient talking sasquatch.... i'm not sure what to believe, but the statue of a small human praying to him, while he stands over that person does make it seem like he was a giant. The placement of Bes's head over a young Horus also indicates that he was tall. ...just some food for thought.

He took care of me and my son in my dream when i was pregnant. Snakes were attacking my stomach to open it and attack my son. I crawled to a dry field where a hut was. He pulled me in smiling. He pulled out the snakes and smashed them then threw them in the fire. Then he rubbed special mudd on my stomach to seal it . Then he handed me a drink . It was warm and i fell asleep feeling very safe and protected. Then I woke up . Years later I came across Bes learning about ancestors. ❤❤❤

The most ancient diety in Africa was the bovine diety Hathor. There were several discoveries in Nabta Playa, Lower Nubia (South Egypt) where rituals attributed to Hathor was excavated, dated around 8,000 BC. Do a research on Nabta Playa..

The Tikar people of Cameroon have a similar “god” they warship, simply known as a house god, or protector of the home. If you were to type in “Tikar house god” you would see many representations of this figure. And 3:20 the Tikar people also say that before they arrived to their home land it was inhabited by short “Pygmy people”.

My thoughts exactly. Bes is actually never referred to by the ancient Kemetians as a ntr, the word we translate to mean god. And based on his attributes, as someone that can be called upon in all matters, I would suppect that his representation was meant to be that of an ancestor, or the ancestors.

Predynastic Khemet had a "Bes" but it was simply a small person. The god went out of fashion during dynastic Khemet. It was later rediscovered and displayed in many demeaning ways when others infiltrated Egypt.
