I much prefer Reolink bullet styled camera for the fact that they are still made from metal... I absolutely hate plastic CCTV cameras. They just don't stand a chance if someone tried to vandalise them.

I've been a Blue Iris user for years but was having so many issues using my Reolink cameras with it (i.e. glitches, audio/video sync issues, playback speed issues). I've spent many hours trying to optimize them to no avail. My Blue Iris PC is plenty powerful (i7-8700 with 32 GB of ram). It seems Reolink cameras and Blue Iris are NOT a good match. I have 20 Reolink cams. 10 of them are 4k, 9 are 5MP, and 1 is 3MP. Just bought a Reolink RLN36 NVR about a week ago and it's been working solid. It supports up to 36 cams. I'm able to run all of my cams at max bitrate and resolution without any problems. I love it! 🥰

I didn't know Reolink had a 36 channel NVR, so I looked it up... pretty cool. I too am having some glitches with Reolink on BI. Thanks for sharing

As you have long got the NVR this is no use to you but might help someone else... Using BlueIris in "desktop" mode to monitor the CCTV seems to use significantly more CPU time than streaming to the web interface. I am running BI in a fairly lightweight Windows VM on my TrueNAS server. When I bring up the live view via web I'm only running at between 22% and 27% CPU. When I open the VM desktop it stays about the same. But when I open the BI desktop application it varies between 50 and 70%. As soon as I close that down, back to the mid-20s. I know many people use their BI servers as the viewer for their CCTV, so worth a mention in case someone thinks their BI server can't hack the task and is about to drop a load of money to build a new PC when all they really need is a tablet for everyday viewing!

The 820A is an 8mp sensor sadly, the only 12mp offering at this time is a RLC1212a. If you want better than this you'll have to shell out for HIKVision's most cutting edge 12-16mp offerings, those cost a lot.

I bought the bullet style version of this camera, RLC-1210A. This caused me serious problems when connected to my Milestone installation. I even did a total re-install of the Server OS and Milestone trying to solve the issue. First the camera OnVIF is not recognized by Milestone, newest device drivers did not help in regards to this. Finally found that attaching the camera as a "universal camera" got picture and sound in the NVR but the software became unstable because of this causing the recording server to crash and restarting (automatically). Newest FW on the camera did not help the situation. So if you are running Milestone I do NOT recommend this camera.

What do you do with the reset button and the power cord if you're using the Poe. Will they not just end up dangling, is there any weather resistant caps that come with it. they seem kind of big to be hidden if you're mounting this on a wall and not going straight through the center base?

Well I was considering replacing my 8mp cam with this one. But you've convinced me that it's probably not worth the hassle. I was hoping for better ID performance at longer distances. From what I saw it's pretty much about the same.

How can I view the IP cameras feed from a diffrent private network (using internete) using RIO app or a computer in the network. Do I need to configure any Port Forwarding or how does it work? Could you please give me your two cents here? By the way nice video.
@HomeTechDIY
@HomeTechDIY 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! I haven't tested it, but from what I understand, you can add multiple cameras or NVRs to the Reolink app from multiple locations. Add the devices to the app they way you would normally and they can be access from anywhere. No port forwarding is necessary.

You did not address the frame per second which is a highly important metric

It was mentioned at 4:30. It's a max of 20fps at 12MP. There is also a visual of the frame rate when bandwidth is discussed at 17:35. Is there anything additional I can lookup for you?

Why everybody goes with the highest megapixels(mistake)? Go with the biggest sensor(it is like going with a DSL camera). That way you have very good night time videos as well. These days the best for the money is 1/1.8" sensor.

Thank you for information. How to extend between NVR and Camera line?
@HomeTechDIY
@HomeTechDIY Жыл бұрын
That depends on the distance between the camera and the NVR. 100m is a comfortable distance but anything over that might need an extender or even a PoE switch.

@@HomeTechDIY I don't think I ever thanked you for your response to my question. And I don't think I mentioned that you were featured in a video I did about the Reolink camera that many believe captured the murder suspect in the University of Idaho quadruple murder. The landlord there tells me he believes his Reolink camera is a RLC-522A. I have the 520A. Anyway, here's a link to that video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmjXnoh7pbV6aLcsi=Dc7qOMxWGiPTvJMS And I would love to get your opinion on whether the Reolink camera at the University of Idaho is running in infrared night mode or just black & white night mode.
