Hi Brad, I used Dirac live to do the room calibration. But in this video I found that you were explaining to use Dirac processor with PC. Please advise is it a must?
@welderfixer3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad, As always, thanks for this video and info. However, folks should know that there is no software that can correct a "bad room" that has reflective surfaces all around the listener. Last night I did a low tech test with some soft cushions placed against the walls in my living room around where I sit. Dang! What a difference in audio clarity from each speaker - 5.1.2 system. I listened to music, watched a couple test movie clips and played HALO 5 for a couple hours. I found that the sounds from each speaker was plainly coming from the speaker and not being mixed together with many reflections. The lower reflections helped with clarity of the music and movies. HALO 5 was more fun and intense because I could hear character sounds, gun shots, foot steps, voices, etc... much clearer than before. I am looking forward to properly treating my room and then rerunning my AVR room correction. Thanks again and please have a great day!

Thanks for the comment, Kevin! I absolutely agree with you. Room correction can’t fix a bad room. I have always viewed it more so as “icing on the cake” that you use after you get your system sounding it’s best. Proper speaker setup and even makeshift acoustic treatments like you did with your low tech test can really go a long way. I think people expect room correction software to fix all of those issues for them, and that’s just not the case. There’s an old home theater saying in regards to video quality: “garbage in, garbage out.” That definitely applies to audio and room correction software as well.

@@HomeTheaterGamer Hi Brad, thanks for the reply. I'm sure getting the best out of a system is a multi step process for most of us based on the availability of expendable funds and time. I thought I was happy with my system until last night. Acoustical/refection treatment is no longer "icing on the cake" for this guy - it's a must. Time to "tune the room" then run the AVR room correction again. Can't wait for the results of that effort. It will be really interesting to hear how feeding the movies/soundtrack through a PC and DIRAC LIVE into the AVR will sound. Of course, gotta save up and buy/build and worthy PC. Money money money. Hobbies? Who knew the expense and frustrations? Hahaha

I just upgrade my system from Marantz AV7705 to JBL Syhntesis SDP55. My experience using Audyssey and Dirac, i could said that Dirac more perfect for Room Correction. Sound more focus, dynamic and less compression. Audyssey is good, but Dirac is another level. To get full advantage using Dirac, need professional calibration like Terry from Pursuit Perfect System. I’m still learning this Dirac Calibration, thanks for your vids sir.

Thank you! I'm always trying to learn something in regards to home theater. And if I can share that and hopefully help people along the way, even better! We all deserve the best audio and video our systems can put out!

How does it work if I have dirac live on my receiver but I didn’t buy a license? Is it possible to use Dirac live on pc if my receiver has it?
@jos5067Ай бұрын
A question: great video, very informative, thanks, but I still can't connect DiracLiveProcessor to my HiFi system in a pure stereo setup without a Dirac device in my forementioned HiFi system. I can see a 'Dirac Virtual Audio Device' setting in my iMac Audio/Midi application, but don't know how to use it in conjunction with my HiFi system, or should I connect my DAC with a USB cable I don't prefer? Normally I play music through Audirvana by UPnP to my Lindemann audio bridge 2 and from there to my DAC.

So i need to manually enter the levels and distances in Denon BEFORE i run Dirac live ?
@Karim-ik5ij2 жыл бұрын
So the receiver streamer doesn't need to support dirac? You just run everything from your PC? I'm thinking of getting the element x2

Wow inwss just now wondering, if there was something I can do to my Marantz 7705 to get Dirac and just stumbled on to this video. So I'm a bit of a noob, so I would have to have the laptop connected to the pre-pro at all times to get Dirac correction? What laptop would accept the Dirac software?

Hey there, I have Arcam avr850. I am having problems in getting the first center spot getting calibrated. Getting error report. I changed every setting and volume levels or the mic volume. Still getting error report. I have a mic that came with arcam. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Tks

Any plans on doing a MINIDSP 2×4HD DIRAC plugin tutorial?

Definitely. I’m just waiting to hear back from MiniDSP. I’m really interested in checking that out.

Do you have to have your movies play through your computer for Dirac to work? Have a new Marantz receiver and definitely looking for a solution without getting a new equipment.
@HomeTheaterGamer3 жыл бұрын
You do as the only Dirac Live corrected audio will be whatever is output from your computer.

@@HomeTheaterGamer If they could produce a standalone box one could put between a source and the hdmi input for an AVR I’d shell out some cash for that. I’d buy the DDRC-88 but for some reason it doesn’t support a common 5.2.4 format.
@tosvus2 жыл бұрын
@@jrep88 just note that it likely couldn't use hdmi as a passthrough, due to copy protection.

the most easy way to use it and calibrate your AVR is using the cellphone app , on my Pioneer LX 505 I use the Pioneer Remote app , very easy, you can use the microphone that is include in the AVR , you can correct up to 9 points corrections

This video comes up first every time I tune in to You Tube. How can I get rid of it?
@HomeTheaterGamer4 ай бұрын
Can’t help you there. I just make the videos. KZbin decides what to do with them.

This was quite interesting next to all the Dirac Live videos all around KZbin that mostly focus on receivers/processors with built-in Dirac.

Good video, unfortunately all this is way beyond my technical skills. I can barley get my way around a computer. I'll try the mobile app.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, audio calibration is a pretty deep rabbit hole to go down and definitely requires being comfortable around a computer most of the time. I will say though, of all the programs I've used over the past few years for calibration of both audio and video, Dirac was honestly one of the most straightforward and easy to use.
