Leonard Teale made many guest appearances in homicide. Leonard Teale joined the cast in episode 27. His surname was a problem. IN his earlier life people did not know how to pronounce his surname. Even during the 2nd world war, it posed a dilemma. Upon discharge from the "Air Force" and embarking on an acting career Leonard decided to change from "Thiele to Teale". Thiele was a tongue twister. How to pronounce? So dear Leonard (His brother Neville faced a similar situation) switched to Teale. When he commenced in Homicide, the roll call of credits had "Teal" Many episodes later, this was rectified with "Teale" All in all, Leonard was a fine actor with a rich baritone voice. I also enjoyed his performance in Ethel Turners novel "Seven Little Australians." How sad to contemplate that such a big name died such a lonely death! He loved those early morning runs. It was when wife Liz Harris and Len moved to Sydney, he set out on his last journey. Alone in the bush, he had a fatal heart attack Had he been found sooner, Len could have been saved. Many hours passed before bushwalkers found him. What does this say? Len has left a void that will never be filled. Leonard, always will be remembered. Peter J. Hannigan.
