Healthiest relationship in the movie. They value, care and love each other. The way Andromache kisses his hand is so sad and passional...

That’s why I love Hector in this film. He doesn’t fight just for the glory or for reputation or to kill people. He fights because he has something more precious: he fights so his wife and child would be safe and he fights for the day he won’t have to anymore, even if it costs him his life. That’s what Achilles had to learn and that’s why he spent his last moments in this film fighting for something precious he found: Briseis

Military proficiencies aside, you can see in this scene the baby’s crib is at the foot of the bed and actually I’m fairly certain this was common practice in ancient times. If you’re struggling with your baby crying throughout the night and yourself having to get up and check on them, maybe try moving the crib into your room. It might give them a sense of comfort and safety that allows them to sleep easier if you re-assure them that you’re “right here”. You can also place them on your bed in between the two of you, in the first month or so just so they get that feeling of security, just don’t roll over onto them.

Hector *genuinely* not wanting to fight epitomizes the highest warrior virtues. It's clear his mind inclines towards spiritual principles that warn against killing. Perhaps he had exposure to such principles of wisdom in past lives. By doing so his mind guards itself against committing the worst atrocities during warfare. Where the evil that can be encountered is liable to corrupt the noble warrior mind. It follows that Hector not wanting to fight and kill is exceeded only by Hector not wanting innocent beings to be killed by corrupt fighting. When that is a *probability not a mere possibility* he feels compelled to apply his fine warrior skills to defend the innocent. And his mind being guarded as outlined above he conducts himself in battle in a virtuous manner always applying that minimum force necessary to bring the fighting to an end. But I've always wondered how this could be possible, for Hector to be so good at fighting and yet not want to fight. I always thought to excel at something to the level Hector does excel at fighting you must enjoy it. It must be that Hector enjoys developing the skills associated with the Warrior discipline in the same way a chef enjoys developing the skills associated with cooking a meal. However, he does not enjoy fighting in the same way a chef may not enjoy eating the meal he has cooked. For enjoying that process of cooking has no drawbacks whatsoever, it's simply a skill necessary to achieve an outcome. Whereas enjoying the eating can lead to desire, greed, and craving for pleasurable tastes, which if unchecked can corrupt the mind even to the point of one's own death in extreme cases. I am certain this is what makes Hector such a near Supreme Warrior example also. In the same way that a chef can become corrupted by eating his meals to the point he cannot cook properly or at all. Perhaps by genuinely not enjoying fighting, Hector is able to keep his mind free of corruptions such as greed, hatred etc, and in doing so keep his warrior skills honed to the utmost level. What then of Achilles the only man in history to match him *not* exceed him. Because Hector landed the first glancing blow, so who knows who would have won an *armourless* fight (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIKZY5mogJxnq5I). But actually even Achilles did not enjoy fighting at all *because* he did not enjoy having to end life at all (kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5e4n3uAqNRkZs0), exactly the same as Hector (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmeon2Z8ob-mZ7c). Though he did enjoy developing the skills associated with fighting (kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYivk2V8ZbJ4pbs). So just like Hector - Defender Of Troy, fighting was purely a means to an end for him (kzbin.info/www/bejne/enLNdZKoj7KVndE). Though somewhat less honourable, which is why he decided to sail home after *re-finding* Eternal Love for his Dharma/Soulmate Briseis (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXuVZKJmg66qrqM). So it follows that it is not the fighting itself that should be enjoyed by the noble warrior. It is the development of skills associated with fighting within the boundaries of a *proper reason* for fighting in the first place. Just as a chef can enjoy perfecting the art of cooking not to enjoy the taste of the meal but simply to sustain the lives of those they cook for to the best of their ability. And just as the best chefs can make a hearty meal using the bare minimum of ingredients. The most noble warriors are those that can fight effectively using the bare minimum of weaponry. For both Hector and Achilles that being the sword and the spear. Requiring them to fight at best on equal terms with their opponents, never at an advantage themselves. The reward for such valour being Divine "ingredients" in subsequent lives. Though they would have perfected other techniques, maybe even archery *(or similar...).*

Bruh cool story and all that but the movie made it a very strong point that for all of Hector's prodigious skill, Achilles was in a league of his own and completely outclassed him. A glancing blow is just that, armor exists for exactly this reason, and it wouldn't have been fatal even if there wasn't any armor.

houstonpromotion Achilles was a demigod (in the Iliad and in the movie). He got it from his dad as he’s a descendent of Zeus I think. To add to the already OP strength, like u said he was dipped in the water by his mother.

@charlesfh34964 жыл бұрын
Yes he did. He is a demigod from his mother’s side. His father was Pelias the king of Larissa and his mother the godess Thetis. There was a prophecy that should Zeus had a child with Thetis, that child would become even stronger that him, so instead of bedding her, he married Thetis to a mortal, to avoid the prophecy. But still Achilles was the strongest demigod ( after Hercules). So bottomline that spear throw was nothing for him. Another fact, is that in the iliad his spear is supposed to be so heavy that only he can lift it.... I m Greek btw
