whats up brother, I just want to say with the upmost respect, GOOD JOB with the videos. there are MANY people who make videos you are the first one that i consider good competition for my channel.. and i say that, with all sportsmanship. The sport needs people like you, and myself.. keep up the work brother. Regardless of who has more views or followers, what matters is good pigeon videos for the sport to grow. ALOHA!!!! From Florida to Hawaii -

Thank you very much! You and your videos definitely encouraged me to start filming some of my experiences in racing pigeons. My hope is that all of our videos will help to get more people excited about the sport again. You're absolutely right when you say it takes a lot of time to make and edit videos. I give you much respect and praise for all that you have done to promote the sport of pigeon racing. I'm glad to see your town is getting better each day after the past hurricane season. Wish you and your family all the best. Aloha!!!

very nice. I thought you were building me my new loft. Your turtle runs fast. lol
@alohapigeons94406 жыл бұрын
Very fast! After he is done eating he does laps around the yard almost all day.
@bettawhisperer31196 жыл бұрын
Hey that yard looks familiar! Deja Vu? Its like I've been there before. Lol... The youngsters are looking awesome. So is the extention to the loft. And i like the idea of the clear corrugated fiber glass for the roof. If thats what you are going to use. Pigeons love to sunbathe. I used to get my birds tame by just sitting with them for about 20 min just before feeding and while they ate for about 2 weeks or so. Then i would get them extra hungry until they learn that eating from my hand is safe. This usually took the longest to do so i did it twice a week. The idea is to have them really hungry but not starving. Once you have a couple of birds start to eat out of your hands, the others soon follow suit. Thats the way i did it. Of course there are many ways to do this. As long as there is no detriment to the birds, fanciers should do what works for them. And you are very welcome buddy! I held on to that crate and the smaller one i still have for 22 yrs. The last 2 things from my pigeon days. Apparently i did so i could give it to you. Your logo would look great on the top. We'll talk soon once that build is finished. You look very tired at the end of the day. Thats what happens when you build by yourself. Like i said, if you need anything, im only a phone call away. Lol...
@alohapigeons94406 жыл бұрын
I have been spending a good amount of time with the young birds and today they finally trust me enough to eat out of my hand. Thank you again for our gifts and words of wisdom!

AlohaPigeons i have yet to see anything wrong. And i can now say that as an eye witness first hand! Like i said to the other island racers, they better pay attention. They have a contender here no doubt about it!

I'm 15 years old and love to have pigeon as homing pigeons and to tran them. I've only had 3 pigeons at a time cause different things have happened to them, to cats and flying away. But what should I feed my pigeons exactly? I have chickens and I feed my pigeons some of the chicken feed and that has helped to preventive there feathers from snapping and to look much better like how wild pigeons feathers look. but what's the appropriate food to feed pigeons?
@alohapigeons94406 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashley, if you can find a ready made pigeon feed it might be better. Protein content should be between 12%-16%. Normal pigeon feed include safflower, red wheat, milo, peas, and corn. I will do a video on feed in the future. Your birds should be fine with what you're feeding. Glad to hear we have young pigeon keepers. Wish you all the best!

@alohapigeons94406 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Unfortunately the giant runt chicks did not make it. Both chicks were very small and weak. I think there is something wrong with the hen. They have a second round of chick that will hatch any day now. Hope this round is a little stronger. If not, I will separate them and medicate both of them before I put them back together. Hopefully I will have some good news about their chicks in the next few days. Aloha, Sean.

You are doing great. Put the GPS bands on for one of the cross water training runs. I would like to see the route. You are keeping good ventilation in the lofts, makes for healthy birds. Was that "Sand" in the nesting bowls?
@alohapigeons94406 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The plan is to one day put a GPS band on a bird released off island. I'm thinking about installing two exhaust fans once I complete the extension. This is my first year using sand in the nest bowls, it's worked well.

my friend claim that maximum speed of homing pigeon is 80m/h is that possible ?please sir reply . we have bet on it
@alohapigeons94406 жыл бұрын
After looking over the data from 9 flights with the use of the skyleader GPS rings, the fastest reliable time was 2297.28 meters/minute which equals just over 85 miles/hour. This was a peak speed over a relatively short distance which also corresponded with the bird being in a descent from the top of a ridge line. Furthermore, this speed reading from the GPS ring is ground speed and not true airspeed. True airspeed could be more or less depending on the relative wind direction. Thanks for the question and my apologies if you lost the bet. Aloha, Sean
@ooatv21506 жыл бұрын
Awesome video as always. Since your a flyer that builds his pigeon lofts etc. The latest video on my channel is a new type of sanitary feeder i created. It allows you to easily limit the amount of feed intake your young birds receive during training/ racing, without having to move the entire feeder. Here in places like ohio it rains quite often during my training season so its a bit more difficult finding a place to store my feeder and keeping it dry from mold. I hope you (sean or shawn?) check it out and any other flyers interested. Goodluck in your 2018 youngbird season everybody!

Thanks! You made a fantastic video and feeder. Everyone needs to go checkout his channel. Aloha, Sean

Unfortunately they did not make it. I think the Hen is not producing healthy chicks. The Giant runts just had 2 chicks hatch yesterday so we will see how they do. If they don't survive this time I'm going to separate the parents and medicate them and try again later.

Training has been going okay. I have been using the GPS bands and it's been interesting seeing their flight tracks. I've had a few birds hit power lines pretty bad unfortunately. The birds have also gone through a bad adenovirus and 6 birds died during that time. A lot has been happening with the birds and the first race is coming up quickly in the end of August. Wish I had an update video done but I have been so busy and it's going to take a while to edit a video with so much info. Hopefully soon. Aloha, Sean
