It’s interesting to see how that would play out., Then Roman Catholicism will fall apart., It’s still shade, because the prophecy would be false and that’s not inspired by God. But if you refer to the pope acting as a representative of Christ on earth and each priest acting as an alternate priced, I can see how you can perhaps interpret the RCC as being relevant to the original poster’s statement. It is much worse than that. I wanted to study theology here in Denmark and become a pastor in the Lutheran church, when I was just saved, just to realize, that I had choice between a rock and hard place then: Either I could go through a seven and a half long university study to become a pastor, the longest education in Denmark, exceeding the study of an MP by half a year, but a free education. All the teachers and professors though are professing atheists, and I much expect, so are most of the students. 70% today of the students are women anyway, wanting to become pastors. The other choice is a private faculty, which is hugely expensive or you got to be sponsored by the cult, that runs it, and that really is a Pharisee style cult, that already hates me personally. Anyway, they got even less to teach me about my faith, than the unbelievers do. So, here in Denmark is only left either a ridiculous and ridiculed Pharisee cult or open progressive "Christians", who really believe in nothing. They even openly and in the media proclaim, that they do not believe in the Bible or God, but continue in their good jobs as pastors in the church.
@1corinthians15.1-4kjv8 ай бұрын
By the way, as a consequence, the Danish Lutheran comically called the People's Church are completely EMPTY any given Sunday, void of people. It got nothing to offer anymore, and clearly by design, because the atheist state has destroyed faith from the inside, by controlling all education, including to become a pastor.

So timely that Dr. Merritt loves his universalist, homosexual sons sermon. The SBC is in trouble and am saddened that it most likely will not be salvaged. I've been a believer for 48 years. I have never been able to rally around any particular denomination. My repentance and ongoing personal relationship with Christ has never depended on the denomination of the local church where I attended. I always felt uneasy when people felt that the decline and fall of Christianity hinged on how their denomination was faring. I feel that a person will always be discouraged with this team approach. When one puts all of their eggs in the basket of any denomination they are sure to be disappointed. 1Corinthians 1:12 comes to mind.

Well said; I've come to much the same conclusion. We live in the 'already but not yet' world, of the body of Christ. Our institutions are all flawed to varying degrees, yet somehow are still Christ's body in the world. We're not in a perfect world, nor are any of us perfect, only Christ. Justin, I think the big confusion in the church concerning this topic is the fact that when a homosexual repents of their sin and excepts Christ and walks in the faith,sometimes their Temptation doesn’t leave them and so they have to constantly put that under the blood of Christ. This is far different than continuing to identify as a homosexual thus lies the confusion. The struggle with temptation is no different than with an adulterer, a liar, a glutton and a gossip. When we belong to Christ we are new creatures that’s when we reject the titles the identification of the sin that we have repented of but that does not always mean we are not tempted any longer. We all grow at different rates in our Sanctification.I hope that makes sense. When we become a believer we identify with Christ we don’t walk around saying I am an adulterer I’m just not practicing it. God bless your work brother.
@ZekeMagnar3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I mean unless we're misunderstanding Justin's position, it not only doesn't make sense for someone to be judged for something that's outside of their control (i.e. their sexual orientation, not the engaging in such behavior), but it contradicts what the Bible tells us (i.e. it condemns the act - the "practice" of such behavior) and it also goes against the Catholic and orthodox Church's view on the topic. If Justin is suggesting that it's a sin to experience involuntary same-sex attraction (or that it's a "softening" of Scriptural verses to suggest that it's not a sin), then I would be curious to know if he would be consistent by applying the same exact standard to heterosexual Christians who have involuntary sexual attractions to someone other than the person they're married to. I'm an orthodox Christian who believes that same-sex attraction is a disordered state and that engaging in such behavior is a sin that will factually deprive you entrance into the kingdom of heaven. However, what Justin is essentially doing by holding to such a position is telling us is that no one is a Christian, since every single person on earth experiences temptations at one point in time or another, including Christ Himself. So if a heterosexual man or woman have continuous and involuntary sinful urges or thoughts to cheat on their spouse, or even slander someone, or urges steal, or whatever other sin is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, but they, too, choose not to give in to those thoughts or feelings, would they, too, not be considered a Christian in his view? Would be curious to know what he would say about that.
@GI4JYT3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you wholeheartedly! Sometimes the temptation can seem stronger after salvation. Hebrews 4:15 comes to mind where even Jesus was: '...tempted on ALL points as we are yet without sin...'
@timestealr29673 жыл бұрын
@@ZekeMagnar I have to correct you on your opening statement here; Paul never said (neither did Jesus for that matter) that we should never judge someone who's involved in habitual sin, meaning sin that they seem to have no control over. There are ways to avoid temptation. For one, a recovering alcoholic wouldn't get a job at a local bar as that would be a certain downfall back into that. There are things that one must put in place to safeguard one from certain temptation and a fall into that. By reading the word daily, praying and surrounding one's self with the things of God will go far in keeping one from a sin that they fall prey to all to easy.
@ZekeMagnar3 жыл бұрын
@@timestealr2967 So the problem both you and Justin seem to have is that you think it's a sin to be tempted. If that is the case, then would you be consistent and claim that Jesus sinned? No, of course you wouldn't. Yet you seem not to have an issue holding to such a view when it comes to those who experience same-sex attraction. Calling them "sinners" (even though many of them don't give into the temptation), but calling Jesus sinless, even though He, too, did not give into temptation. Do you see the double standard here? That being said, you're assuming that those who are same-sex attracted aren't reading the word daily, praying and surrounding themselves with the things of God. How in heavens name could you possibly know that? Have you knocked on every door and asked? Or are you just assuming? There are many people who experience such attractions that do all of those things and choose never to identify with such feelings, so I don't know why you would say such a thing. As for your example, are you suggesting that if an alcoholic never stepped foot into a bar or any establishment that served liquor and did his due diligence as well as any human can to prevent himself from falling into temptation, that there would never be a point in time where he would be tempted to drink? If so, I would strongly disagree with you. Even if you became a monk and chose to live in a cave, isolated from the rest of the world, the temptation to drink can still arise within you. You can argue that the intensity with which it attacks you might not be as great, but the point remains: You would still be tempted and, according to your and Justin's worldview, you would still be a sinner. The issue that you seem to be neglecting is that you, as well as I, as well as the rest of humanity, have zero control over our thoughts and feelings. Literally zero. You can choose not to give in to them, but you can't choose for them not to occur. So the point is this, when you do everything in your power to stay clear of alcohol and yet still you wind up being tempted, are you a sinner? Because that's the image Justin seems to be painting and that is what it seems that you believe as well. Again, I could be wrong about Justin, but clarity is definitely needed here on your part and his.

He does his son, their congregations and the entire body of Christ no favors for not condemning this based on Scripture. ALL are welcome to come to Jesus, but the sinning must be repented and must work actively every day to keep from going back into those sins. All who desire to know Jesus should hear the Gospel, BUT that in no way means their sins should EVER be accepted! There is a big difference. I don't think this man is suitable to lead a flock in Jesus' name. He has much work to do on his own relationship with Jesus before he can be a leader of others. His dad surely loves him, but he needs to show the ultimate love and condemn his ways and offer to help him come into a positive relationship with Jesus for his Salvation's sake. I saw the tragic softening in the SBC 10 years ago when then-president Bryant Wright met with top homosexual activists at the SBC convention in Phoenix. The homosexual activists’ purpose in the meeting was to demand an apology from the SBC on its past stance on the issue. Although Wright “didn’t budge” officially on the position the SBC took on homosexuality, the very fact that he agreed to give these vicious activists a place at the table was itself a capitulation. No one expected the other side to budge, but the activists left with something extremely valuable to them. They were able to finagle acknowledgement and an audience from the president of the largest Protestant group in the nation. Any president in the more conservative past would have rightfully refused to give them the time of day.

I don't think I've ever heard of someone refer to Jesus as a "buzzkill," especially over a prophetic statement. But yeah, Jonathan doesn't seem to understand Jesus's character or divinity much at all. He doesn't get angry at things for the same reasons we do (when He gets angry, which isn't that often) and everything He did or said had a purpose behind it. He didn't curse the fig tree because He was just grouchy as a human would be; the fig tree was representative of Israel, who had grown leaves and matured but hadn't born fruit (fig trees bear fruit before they grow leaves,) and sure enough Israel would fall and wither just like the tree did. Jon also committed a common action a lot of false teachers make; pull one or two verses out of context so you can insert your own point into it, and in doing so he misses Jesus's extensive warnings to the disciples about just how bad things were gonna get, not just for them but for us as well. He's also exceedingly good at saying nothing with many words, and apparently missing the fact we're all sinners (makes sense, as he's locked in unrepentant sin) and that Jesus is actually going to show up and that this wasn't meant to be taken as a metaphor. Jonathan's preaching his own personal Jesus, not the real one who physically walked with us all those centuries ago. But sadly this is common, and I guess it's no surprise his dad would endorse it.
@huckleberryfinn3383 жыл бұрын
I thought the fig tree was what God will do to the soul of man when it isn't fruitful. When we die, and are a worker of iniquity and practice lawlessness, God might curse you and drop you down down down ohhhh the terror of the damned. Yeah, it’s impossible for God to have any sort of human sinful anger; any time that He is angry about something it is 1,000,000% righteous anger that His perfect holiness cannot stand. Sure, Jesus flipped over the money-changers tables and was angry at God’s temple being misused, and they’re very lucky that He did not just strike them down right then and there and send them to Hades! Thank you for this! This was, indeed, an encouraging message. I have been seeing error all over the place and I'm a relatively new Christian and I wrestle deeply with sin. I am constantly thinking that I am in no position to be calling out error, yet I see error all over the place. I can't tell if I'm just being self-righteous, or if I'm being too harsh, or if I'm not being harsh enough, or if maybe I am not well-versed enough to know, and the list of excuses and challenges continues to grow and includes things that I have not written here. I am relatively new to the faith (maybe 3 years or so now) and I think I'm a bit overwhelmed as it seems that to be a faithful Christian I must call out all of these other people on their errors while simultaneously these same people have invested nearly their entire lives into modern Christianity. If these people are senior pastors and have a wealth of both life experience and experience with the sanctifying work of studying the Gospel, then who am I to correct their errors? Shouldn't they be the ones correcting my errors? One would think so, however it seems that the modern Church is absolutely rife with errors. I am greatly encouraged by men that have devoted their lives to Christ that are willing to publicly call out error! I don't have that much confidence as I have mentioned that I am still quite new and therefore I'm supposed to be in submission to a pastor, not the one correcting the pastor. I want to serve God faithfully, but I am struggling to do so as the errors are hard to ignore and imply that I must find a new pastor. Obviously, I don't want to defy God, who is represented by my pastor, unless I have good reason to do so. I think maybe I should be lacking in confidence when it comes to defying God, although I am struggling even in that department as well because I still have sin in my life that I struggle with.

Your pastor is a leader and teacher, but he should not stand between you and your Savior. If your pastor does not teach the truth of the Word of God, if your pastor or local church embrace serious error, then leaving that church is not defying God, but following God. Perhaps you could sit down with your pastor, an elder, or other leader in your church---someone you respect-- and share your questions respectfully. You said you are a young Christian; it's possible that you've misunderstood some things. If they are not able to assure you that your church is truly following God and His Word, it would be time to look for a new congregation. I noticed in another comment a resource that might help you find a solid, Bible-teaching church. Otherwise, start visiting other churches in your area. Check church websites for their doctrinal statements. If you have Christian friends outside your church, talk to them about finding a new church home. Remember, not even a very good church is perfect. It is a gathering of redeemed sinners who are striving to grow in their faith, just as you are. I admire your passion and determination to root out error. I'd like to encourage you, though, to put more of your focus on learning the Word and growing in your relationship with Christ. You are a young believer, and like every one of us, need to grow in wisdom and prepare your spiritual weapons and armor before you take on all the error in the church, much less in this world. Teachers like Brother Justin have spent many years studying the Word and growing in spiritual maturity, learning discernment and preparing to expose problems like the ones he discussed in this video. Don't be too dismayed at the error you see. You shouldn't follow error, but don't feel personally responsible for eliminating every bit of it yourself. It will exist until the day Christ comes to reign! God bless you!

@@karenduncan6004 Thank you for your words of encouragement! Ok, I will look to speak with some of the others at the church and see what they think. To be a little more specific, my pastor had praised Dolly Parton from the pulpit. From my understanding, Dolly Parton is at best an unrepentant Christian and at worst both unrepentant and mocking the Christian faith in her insistence that she is a Christian singer and songwriter whilst doing some rather clearly sexually immoral things and doing so very publicly. There is a fellow that put a little more research into some of the the things that she has participated in after claiming to have been saved than I have, however I found some pretty raunchy stuff from a cursory look at her Wikipedia page, particularly some of the films that she starred in. I had also noticed that one of the congregants had purchased a book authored by Ms. Parton and so not only is she receiving praise, but she is also receiving financial support from the congregation. If she is lying about her faith in order to make money, then I think it's clear that she should not be praised nor given support in that endeavor. I had some other thoughts regarding some of the things that I had noticed, but that is the most recent thing that seemed wrong.

Thank you for helping me to discern Truth from distortion. Merritts' definition of Jesus is always coming, caught my attention. Jesus is only coming at the appointed time, set by God our Father. He made it sound like Jesus will always be saying I'm coming, but not actually coming, as in the Second Coming of Christ Jesus. If Merritts believes that, then he will have a lot to answer for. If he believes that...what does he really believe about the Rapture, about the tribulations, about the New Jerusalem? It's sad, but again, thank you, Mr. Peter's for helping me see what discerning truth from false teachings looks like. Prayers for God's children.. 🙏✝️🙏

Just because someone has a theology degree and has written books, it does not make them wise or saved. Most of the Apostles were unlearned men but Holy Spirit gave them wisdom and power to preach the gospel. They were truly born again and had left their old sinful man behind them. Paul says renew your mind daily with the washing of the word.

I am deeply disturbed that the SBC would even consider anyone for any position of leadership in any of its institutions or that any individual in leadership in any SBC church would consider anyone for leadership roles who are proponents of homosexuality. I understand that the SBC has accepted to some degree CRT among many other woke philosophies. I am reminded what Romans 1 states that homosexuality and those that support this lifestyle even if those supporting it but are not homosexuals are not accepted by the Lord. Finally, I understand that homosexuals who repent and wholeheartedly stop the practice and accept Jesus as their personal savior is considered saved (A Christian).

The description of homosexuality as a lifestyle is a blatent oversimplification of human sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular. The purpose of this indoctrination of the collective societal psyche is paramount to the self validating delusion of heterosexuality possessing moral validity. The reason that we never hear the term " heterosexual lifestyle" is because there is no need to catogorize heterosexuality with the connotative oversiplification of choice in order to subconciously justify contempt and hatred through subjective comparison.

It's sad to see how far the Southern Baptist have decayed over the years. I was saved in a small Southern Baptist church almost 50yrs ago. The thing back then I didn't like was the Convention. I felt it was like belonging to some type of union that took fees and never did much to support the small church when they needed help. Looks like the SBC has jumped into bed with Universalism.

The Southern Baptist Convention does not approve of homesexuality. They condemn homesexuality as Sin. They do not endorse or agree with James Merritt or his son. Our Baptist church would not stay with the SBC if that was true.

I have recently moved to a new state. The church community in the area I live is lacking. I hesitantly have been visiting a southern baptist church due to lack of other options. Was happy to learn just last week, that the leadership is concerned about their affiliation with sbc for the direction they are moving. They and other congregations are hoping to address these concerns at the upcoming conference, but admitted that top leadership in sbc is not hearing the concerns of the smaller members. Leaving the sbc affiliation is an option being prayed about.
