For me, The Ryobi would be more than good enough, I just want something for emergency power at home during a outage, might only use it one or two times a year or maybe not at all, and with that type of light usage that Ryobi would last me many years , and paying twice as much for the Honda would be over kill, One thing to note on the Honda, if you decided after a few years that you no longer needed a generator , you could get almost 3/4 of the original price , and it would be a easy sell because people are always on the look out for these when they come up for sale , while you will be lucky to get 200 dollars for the Ryobi and almost have to give it away.

There is no replacement for displacement. The Honda engine is 41cc larger so there is no way for the Ryobi to out perform the Honda. The Ryobi is half the cost because you are getting half as much engine. There is no way that the Ryobi can handle the same load as the Honda. Anybody who knows engines know this. Honda is number one for a reason. I will keep my Honda’s.
@bigpatty8233 жыл бұрын

This is really, really old school mentality. It's not anymore 1960s. @redcanyonoutdoorquest62205 жыл бұрын
Answer to how long the Ryobi will last: I bought one in 2012 on short notice up in northern Minnesota because it was all I could find. I figured at that price, if I got a year out of it, I’d be ok with that. Oh, I use it for RV camping. I also figured I’d get another one later on to parallel them for running the ac. Later that winter I was working in Missouri and the RV Park I was in lost all power one night due to a heavy ice storm. I fired up the ryobi and was fine. Power was out there for 3 days. I filled the ryobi 4 times over a 24 hour period and it ran for 3 days without stopping until we got power back on. Not a hiccup. I used it around once a month when I’d take the trailer camping (32 foot Laredo 5th wheel). It couldn’t handle the ac so I bought a parallel box that Home Depot sells for it. Once a year I’d have it serviced at a small engine repair place. I’d always put Staybill in my gas. That’s VERY important for small engines. Two years ago I bought 2 Hondas and gave the ryobi to a friend with a camp trailer and he’s still using it. I’d put them on par with the Honda’s any day.

The Companion is not the "brain" unit when paralleling a pair of Hondas. The Companion simply has a 30 amp twist lock plug on it, an it includes an adapter for an RV 30 amp plug. THat's the ONLY difference between the Companion and standard EU2200i. You can parallel two non companion models together - you don't NEED one of them to be a companion model.

Gravity fed fuel supply is never pressurized. You open the vent so it will drain into the carb floatbowl. Leaving the vent closed while placing it into the sun could add a little pressure, but you open the vent to relieve the vacuum so the fuel will drain. Gas caps without a vent switch have a tiny opening that can evaporate, but it's miniscule, unless tipped over. A vent switch won't leak gas when tipped while not being used in the garage.

So like which one makes the most noise which one is the most expensive to get worked on and which one lasts the longest without maintenance? I got a Ryobi the plastic knob that chokes it and turns it on and off stripped out within a month. The gas tank filter are over the top of the electric circuit board which is on the bottom of the generator and exposed. Very tight to get in there and check the wire fittings. The Ryobi generator has a webbed plastic bottom with a couple of holes drilled in the middle. Water or gasoline collect all around that hole with no way to drain out almost touching the bottom of the circuit board. I've had one less than a year and it work great for a month or two oh, and you know and it started stalling out and now I'm waiting on parts. An electric module that controls the engine carburetor. Don't know why it burned out. But it doesn't accelerate when I plug in my refrigerator. They want $569 for one and I wouldn't give you 200.

Very costly to fix, usually not economical to do so. Seldom if ever do I work on Honda’s, except for fuel/carb related issues. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki gensets superior to all else. Generac has gone down hill in recent years. The Predator line of generators and inverters from Harbor Freight are the best value out these. Good pricing, decent quality. Thanks! I don’t think people give the Ryobi the credit it deserves. It’s a good generator.

I don't have a Ryobi generator, but I do have the Ryobi lawn mower, snow blower, drill, weed whacker, leaf blower, sander, pole saw, power washer, brad nailer, about 6 battery chargers and batteries ranging from the 18v ones you can share with the tools, and 40v 4ah battery for the leaf blower, and two 40v 5ah batteries and chargers for the lawn mower and snow blower.

Here is the big Bomb shell. Look at the Engine size. Honda has 121 cc the Ryobi has a 80 cc . You will not even come close to 2000 watts with Ryobi let alone 2300 peek. With Honda hands down you will get the power they claim. Anyone can make a sticker but Honda produces power.

Have you ever met anyone unhappy with a Honda? I have not. There is the best, Honda, and the rest. I have a Honda. You get what you pay for. Want to need a generator and it does not work in grid down or you NEED power? Always get the BEST generator, Honda.

The Honda is a 121cc. The Ryobi is a 80 CC

Is this a joke? Honda vrs robi gen. Lol. People need to realise what the engine is built with. Better piston. Better rod. Better block material. My Honda has over 6000 hrs on it. Living off grid will test gens for real. Nothing iv tried has lasted as long. Most don't even give me 1000 hrs.

Are y'all salesmen or are y'all at Lowe's hardware store? I mean honestly, this is what I learned when I go to Lowes y'all not going to crank him up or or tell me how it's going to run with a load or anyting. What was the purpose of this video? I mean one of these kind of cute, but other than that, I don't know. Peace out

Hilarious!! That Ryobi 80cc engine won't product 2300 watts on a good day! The Honda’s larger 121cc engine actually produces the power it claims. Ryobi struggled to produce a constant 1600 watts with their old 2000 watt model with a tiny 80cc engine. Magically it can now produce 2300 peak & 1800 running with the same scrawny 80cc engine? -Laughable! Sorry to be critical, but people should know they are being misled (not by Backcountry, but by Ryobi). Icing on the cake was at 2:57 when the sticker peels off the gen. Even the labels are crappy!! LOL Do an actual load test on each gen & you’ll find out why you pay more for the Honda. -Compare the engine size & actual performance, not the sticker’s rating.

Not magically. They added a turbocharger to that 80cc engine. Next level up adds a supercharger and the highest model has nitrous. Ryobi is ahead of the game. Pfffttt.. 🤣🤣

Obviously you are bought by Ryobi. First of all who wants an USB adapter outside? Who cares about the Digital thing about a Generator. And... What about Warranty? I Bought the Honda EU2200i it is the best Generator on market. Bullet Proof. I live in a Hurricane island as a year basis. Honda is Honda.

@@BackcountryLife People that look at generators want numbers (tested) and performance. Sort of like a car review. Ryobi is shit and people need to know that even if it costs 10 bucks, its still 10 bucks thrown in the water. Even here in South Africa, where we live in a 3rd world shit-hole, people would not buy anything with a Ryobi petrol engine
