Thank you for posting this, looks like a fairly easy job. I changed the valve cover gaskets, vvt solenoid and it still continued leaking oil. I purchased one of these filters and I'll find out when I change it.

Btw torque specs can be found in manual or at Hondas website because my dumbass used to overtighten "everything " When I 1st started working on cars,I ruined or nearly ruined every 😑 job I was doing because 1.didn't realize my strength! 2.didnt realize about torque ft. Lbs!! 3.gaskets that compress too much are useless!!! 😆 lol When u learn that in like ur tween yrs is better than learning that in ur 20s!! Especially when it's fix ur car or pay the rent...but u need ur car to run right in order to pay the rent to get to work!!! Now I torque "ALL" the bolts I'm not sure of except like common sense ones,hand tighten than a 1/4 turn is what my old man taught me can still hear him yelling at me like when I was a kid!!!"don't overtighten the bolts,asshole!" Lmfao 🤣 🤣 🤣

Does the 2007 Honda VTEC 4 cylinder have this strainer?
@BarberAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
And to answer your original question… it was changed because the o-ring seal that’s part of the strainer gets hard, cracks, and leaks with age. Commonly misdiagnosed as a valve cover gasket leak.

The rubber oring seal that’s part of the screen was old and leaking oil. The strainer usually isn’t a problem it’s the seal that’s the big problem as it gets hard, cracks, then leaks…

Austin Talley the vehicles owner did not mention any drivability concerns. There shouldn't be any unless oil level gets overly low. That will also cause a check engine light for vtec performance.

Michael Broski yes if it’s clogged you will get a cel. If it’s leaking and oil gets low you will get a vtec cel. Should not cause you to burn oil.
@NewLevelAuto6 жыл бұрын
The better question is when the strainer is dirty , what is the debris?
@ansonlytle9945 жыл бұрын
It can trigger the P2646 CEL and cause the car to go into limp mode
@saucysuishi3412 жыл бұрын
I think oils burning comes into play only if ram low on oil too long where the. Low oils light is on and that causes issues with lubricating the cylinder walls and ring.
