My 96 Attack had the blue wire under the driver seat, it worked for my after market tach. The blue wire at the coil is what you want. Maybe take another look under the seat.

Yeah I think the aKty needs that setup with red stitching.

Thanks! In hindsight I wish I had went with red stitching. I went with gray to match the gray interior panels.

For those with late 90s actys you may have a tach cable (two wires, one blue one green. The blue is tach) already run to a connector that hangs loose under the driver's seat. I used a wiretap and ran a cable under the floormat. Easier than having to go right from the distributor.

This isn't 100% accurate on the wiring/labeling. I just spent last few days tinkering and figured out everything. Hope this helps someone. Thanks again Ron!!! 16pin... #9 - Yellow = 12V Power IGN2 ------- not EGT/Cat Temp...you need a 12v source or the cluster doesn't light up when you turn the key. #11 - Red/Blue = EGT/Cat Temp ------- not Hi Beam 6pin... #6 - White/Red = Hi Beam ------- You guessed this as high beam, and that is correct. There are 2 high beam wires on truck and 2 on cluster, you need both! NOTES: EGT/Cat Temp - If your truck does NOT have EGT/Catalytic Converter (my 1989 HA2 does NOT), the Red/Blue wire must be grounded to get that light to turn off. 12V Power IG2 - My 1989 has 2 yellow wires. Either one will work. Secure/tape up the other one.

Thanks for the video! Do you know if the lens is the same between tach and non-tach clusters?

13:39 I know I’m late to this party, I hope I can get a little help. My 96 Attack has A/C. I’m installing a tach, not the cluster. I’m looking for the tach wire and not having much luck. I’m not finding a connector under the seat (where the evaporator is) and I’m not seeing anything like a plain blue wire under the dash. I did find a plain blue wire at the top right side of the engine bay hole, it’s part of a connector. Does anyone know if this is the tach signal? The coil is tough to even see, getting to the wire on the coil seems like a lot of work. Thank you I love this channel.
@stephenrodgers7485 Жыл бұрын
Finally figured it out My Acty has A/C which means there are no unused connectors under the drivers seat. The blue wire is in the harness just above the A/C equipment. Works great.
@rhd_ron10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. You can get it at the solenoid blue wire, or under the dash in that big gray C101 connector. Do a continuity check from the connector at the coil to one of the blue wires in that connector under the dash to find the correct wire.

Hey Ron, question for you.. on the 6 pin connector, pin #6 white/red “potential ground for tach… do you recall connecting this wire? If so, what to? Did you ground it out? Tape it off? Everything else I’m good on, just confused with this one. My cluster is actually for PS as well, so hopefully it will function without the PS hooked up. I pulled the wires from the connectors and saved them for later use. Thanks for the awesome vids!
@rhd_ron Жыл бұрын
If I recall, that white/red was either for the seat belt indicator or hot catalyst light. My 1991 truck had neither so I did not use it. I think later on I did the cluster install on a 1994 truck and it had the belt light and catalyst over heat light. I want to say the white/red was for the seat belt. Thanks!

Hello! Thanks for your videos. Do you have a source for the smaller (6-pin) cluster connectors? I bought a couple of clusters - one 16 pin and one 12 pin. I found the 16 and 12 pin connectors but I can't find any of the 6-pin. I've been searching eBay and the Japan auctions for a while now and still stuck. I might end up trying to cut up a 12 pin to make two 6 pin but that wouldn't be ideal.
@JulesMariani Жыл бұрын
Ron, I could use some help! I was able to source all wires for the 16 pin. I cut a civic 8 pin connector down to 6 pin but I’m missing the white/red wire. Anything I can use in its place?

So I got a acty with a tac installed off the truck. It's a 96 w/ a/c and a fancy wheel, shifter and a brown dash. Is that a model or someone installed that overseas? Just trying to figure out what model acty I have.

Soooooo, Here's my crazy idea. I just bought an cluster on an online auction site in Japan. It will wing it's way to me in a week or 10 days. I plan to tray and take out the 4 screws that hold in my old odometer and put it in my new(used) cluster, replacing the old one with higher milage. That way my odometer will be accurate and I'll get a tach. Now, I need to source the connectors in the back. Any ideas where I can get those?
@rhd_ron2 жыл бұрын
Plugs: 16pin from 94-01 Integra. 6pin from 84-87 Civic or Honda Beat. As for the odometer swap, I thought the same thing on my first cluster but the size of the housing to mount it was different if I recall. The no tach cluster is much larger for the odometer area than the cluster with tach. If you actually take JUST the odometer numbers and mechanism maybe, but my cluster I found was only off maybe 1,000kms so I let it be. Thanks for watching

So as I’m working through mine I noticed I have 2 yellow wires. Mine is also a 96 and I’m trying to put the same cluster into it. Is that something you ran into also?

Just use one. They are both 12v switched power. Works just fine.

Nothing but perfection, then you had to use a wire tap... Come on, you've already illustrated your skills are better than that.
