I appreciate your content Ron, but I see you haven't made many videos lately. With the uptick in interest for the kei trucks, do you plan to make more videos? I recently purchased a Subaru Sambar, and intend to make several of these upgrades, but finding instructional videos is challenging.

Hey, does your beat make a whining sound when the engine is hot at operating temperature? Some say that it is normal or might be. I managed to locate it maybe around the lower timing belt cover area. Maybe going to try to adjust the belt tension

Hey Ron! My engine is running rich and fouling my new spark plugs every time i try to start it up. It starts and struggles to stay on till it just shuts off. I changed out both solenoids and cleaned out a majority of the carburetor. It’s been sitting for a month now and I’ve replaced both solenoids, fuel filter, igniter, head valve gasket, spark plugs w/ wires, distributor o-rings, cap, and rotor. I just bought the carb gasket kit

I did my timing belt job. However when I lined up the tick mark on the crank pulley with the plastic cover prior to removal.The Camshaft tick marks lined up correctly too. HOWEVER, the UP was facing down. Reassmebled as I took it apart and runs fine. Odd that my UP was facing down. Thoughts?

So I got a acty with a tac installed off the truck. It's a 96 w/ a/c and a fancy wheel, shifter and a brown dash. Is that a model or someone installed that overseas? Just trying to figure out what model acty I have.

Really great vid as was your timing belt one. Only critique I might have is maybe did the Imperial Japanese flag. It represents war crimes and atrocities committed against a lot of people including US servicemen and woman. It is normally reserved in Japan for ultra-nationalist groups. It’s akin to having a Germany WWII flag in video about working on a Mercedes Benz.
@rhd_ron2 ай бұрын
Thank you for that feedback. I was not aware of the meaning of the flag so I appreciate you letting me know. It will not be in any future videos I may make and I will see if I can edit out in existing videos.

Thanks again for your input and putting together such an informative video! I ended up picking up a set of Liquid Metal Atom 14" 5.5 steel wheels with 35mm offset and Falcon Sincera 165 /65 R14, both from Discount Tire. They fit perfectly, no rubbing with stock height and the ride is so much smoother.

What are your thoughts on going with alloy or steel wheels? I've found both in 14" x 5.5 and I'm wondering if one offers a better ride quality on the Acty. Thanks in advance for your response and thanks for all your great videos!
@rhd_ron3 ай бұрын
Hey man! Really dont think youd notice a ride quality difference with steel vs alloy since the trucks are so light. However the weight of the steel wheel will put a minor increased load on the little truck’s 39 hp! Haha.
@rynfilms3 ай бұрын
@@rhd_ron Thanks! According to the specs, the steel wheels are .5lbs heavier than the aluminum ones. I'm leaning to the steel wheels mostly because I like the look a little more.

You need wobble lug nuts to center the wheels properly

Has anybody else had trouble removing the 10mm bolts on the alternator pulley? I can't get mine to come loose due to the pulley rotating when I attempt to remove the bolts
@rhd_ron4 ай бұрын
I dont recall 10mm bolts on the alternator pulley. Do you mean the crankshaft pulley by chance?
@sharpshooter37994 ай бұрын
@@rhd_ron I may have named it wrong, the part in the video that you point it out is 5:40, though I will mention my '96 Acty has another cover to the right of that pulley with another belt connected to it at about a 45° angle. I didn't take it off tonight I plan on doing that tomorrow but maybe that has something to do with it.

@sharpshooter37994 ай бұрын
@@rhd_ron well it turns out the belt that goes to the right is for the AC compressor and I ended up needing an impact wrench to get the bolts off the crankshaft pulley without it rotating

@rhd_ron5 ай бұрын
Attacks look almost identical to standard 4wd models. You can normally check the shifter in the cab for the lock out pull, the UL for ultra low, and the diff lock button on the dash.

Im not sure. Depends on what the Acty sender is sending signal-wise. And what signal the digitial fuel gauge accepts. As old as these trucks are, I cant say they would work easily together. Although not impossible.
