2022 Honda C-RV 2.0i-MMD Hybrid EX Review | The best hybrid SUV? | UK Car Reviews
Welcome to my UK car review of the Honda C-RV 2.0i-MMD Hybrid EX in Modern Steel Metallic paint. Is this the best mid size SUV currently on the market? watch the video and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
So does the frugality, practicality, roomy cabin and smooth ride make this the best hybrid suv on the market? This is certainly a reival for many family SUV's with the hybrid technology really helping those MPG numbers.
I hope you enjoy my very honest car reviews, please make sure to subscribe if you'd like to see me review more of the most interesting new cars available in the UK today.

I just got mine this week. Absolutely love it! I love the gear shift buttons. A stick now to me looks meh! I can imagine for a techy the screen system would drive them nuts but if you still have an android phone it will probably be ok for you. And I use this car for getting me places in comfort and not to play video games on! Got so much tech on this car it takes a bit of time to learn how to set it all up how you want it, but once done.. it's beautiful! So far on a 70 mile normal A road journey without thinking I get 50mpg, and on a 15 mile A & B road journey driving accelerating like a bit of a sloth, I managed 55mpg! I reckon I can get this up to 60mpg if I can manage to really accelerate slowly on every occasion but I only do this if there's not too many other people behind. I still get up to speed limits but it's a slooow acceleration up to it. Overall driving normally I'd say I will get between 40-50mpg which is great for me as my old 2008 C-Max only did 29 around town and up to 45 on a M-way. I mainly do town driving.

By the way love the summertime outfit! I would probably exit the planet, if I were to dress in your summer outfit in the UK.

Great review Jim- I think if I wanted to buy a car to last the next 10+ years I would seriously consider the C-RV as I’m sure you’d have few problems. But in today’s car market when people get a new car every 3-4 years on finance I can’t see the C-RV selling well at all at its high price point, as people with that kind of budget want brand recognition given reliability isn’t much of a consideration.

Jim, I just bought a CRV in SR trim a few weeks ago. So far the best car I’ve ever had, currently averaging 52mpg. Mind you I’m taking things easy as I’m running it in a bit. You are correct in saying it floats along, I’m not tempted to floor it at all - maybe that’s my age as well. I didn’t want to get involved in all the shenanigans and stress of EV charging just yet. If I go on holiday or on long trips I don’t want to be stressing about plan b or even plan c for refuelling. Keep up the good work.

It's that the 2wd version? I'm looking to buy the same just under a year old. I had a awd i-dtec EX from the previous generation and found the AWD wasn't useful to me in any way. It just hindered the economy. It's good to know you're getting well above the average mpg. I had to drive my older crv really carefully to get around 45mpg, bearing in mind that was a diesel.

@@funkster2050 it’s the two wheel drive version and I’m really pleased with it. The mpg goes down a bit in the cold weather but I’m not doing as many miles as in the the summer so it doesn’t matter as much. I hope you enjoy yours. Cheers K

@@kenbatchelor8284 thanks for the response, that's good to know. My previous diesel AWD CRV was averaging around 42-44mpg so I'm hoping this one will be better, plus the added advantage of cheaper fuel verses diesel

im looking at a new sr. I live in a countryside area with A roads being somewhat hilly/undulating and concerned whether the car will rev a lot to get the speed up to climb the hill. Also travel a fair bit to Devon where the dual carriageways have very long undulating hills and wondering whether the CRV will struggle to cope with these without revving the engine out. Appreciate your comments thanks

Used to be under £40,000 but the price increases over the last couple of years have tipped it over. Not sure why car manufacturers aren't wise to this and keep them under £40k. If a car is over £40k almost makes more sense to lease rather than buy. I paid £27,900 for my SE model with discounts, if I wanted the same today, £32,000.

Yes the tax has put me off replacing my 2015 Rav 4 , looked at both Rav 4 and CRV but the spec I will settle for are both over 40k , another thing our government has screwed us on . I did look at a Volvo XC 60 which on a deal was under 40k new and in my opinion a step up from Toyota and Honda but when I looked at the price for tax it was £860 a year , maybe they just want us to have no nice things .

I've owned one since 2020, in SE trim. I find the mpg is fantastic in the warmer weather but in the cooler weather much lower. Because the engine runs more often to provide the cabin heat. This is probably why that quote 39mpg as an average. On a short trip of say 4 miles around town in the summer I've had over 60mpg. In the winter, on the same journey more like 35. It is a very relaxing car to drive and is comfortable on long journeys. Also a bit of a sleeper car as you can leave most things behind at the lights with the acceleration being quite rapid from 0-40mph, even more so if you press the sport button! The cabin is huge and can actually sit a small adult between two child seats in the back. I'm pretty sure the RAV-4 has a narrower back seat and less rear legroom. I've had no problems mechanically with the car at all, did have a cabin rattle initially but that was resolved pretty easily. The all new CR-V is rumoured to be coming to the UK next year, will be launched in the US this summer.

@@DefinitelyNotAGuru Yes, I believe the car uses cabin heat to warm the battery in cold weather, that's why there's an air intake beside the right rear passenger seat. Just did a run of 150 miles down to Legoland and then back again, 3 adults, 2 children with luggage on board and averaged 45mpg.

Quite pricey. Lots of strong competition at £30 to £40k..... Doesn't really have the wow factor like the new Kia Sportage or Hyundai Tucson has... It's a bit fuddy duddy compared to those two..... There's no knocking Honda reliability and reputation though. Had a few Honda bikes in my time, but never tried a Honda car. The CRV is a superb retired accountant's car... has solid residuals too.
