the thing in the bottom of the carb that you dont know its an accelerator pump. when you open throttle, a part that act on the butterfly will also push a lever that push a membrane under a spring that will push extra fuel into the carb to enrish when you are accelerating... its just a clever trick to enrich when accelerating. :)

Good to see some young people taking an interest in bike mechanics - Well done - BTW That 'mystery gizmo' on the side of the carb is indeed an Accelerator Pump.

Hi thank you this was very helpful. What carb heater cable did you buy and where from? I understand it was from a quad bike. I was wondering what one. Thanks
@TooManyProjects11 ай бұрын
Oooh, it was a lucky guess really. I had another quick Google now and a 2004 Fourtrax TRX looks like the one I got. I have a feeling Honda might have only ever made one carb heater part. No promises.

Thanks. I feel like any sort of Loctite/adhesive would make it even worse to remove in the future.

Fun watch! Love the banter. Thanks for the info before my purchase. May i ask how much you bought the nighthawk for and how many kms it had on the clock?
@TooManyProjects2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nicky. It was quite cheap I guess. £6-700, something like that. I don't remember how many km, 10k miles or so I think.

Hi, Fantastic series of videos and exactly what I am undertaking at the moment with an old CB250 that I have just got hold of. Any chance you could link to or tell me where you got the carburettor 'rebuild kit' from? I need to get one but can't find anywhere easily! Cheers!
@TooManyProjects Жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. There's a chance I got it from WeMoto. But NRP Carbs are always my go to as a general rule. Call them if you can't find what you want on their website.

@@TooManyProjects Great, thanks for the info, will check them out. Are you going to do any more CB250 videos, is it up and running well now?

Once I get a bit more time in the garage I'm going to try and get the CD200 back together. They're really similar bikes, although 20 years between them.

My woomun doesn't normally come near the mancave while I'm tinkering but the other day she wandered in just as I'd dropped a screw from the float chamber and I was seething. Wassup? She says. So I tell her and she nonchalantly picks up a tiny screw about 4 feet away and says This? By any chance? Wow. Amazing. Moral of the story: anyone with you on a job, even a burd, can be surprisingly useful. Anyhow, carbs worked fine for 80 years before carb heaters so who needs em? Cool watch. Thanks. 😂😂

Hello and thank you for this video, very helpful. I just came into ownership of this exact motorcycle. Could you tell me where you got your manual? Thanks!
@TooManyProjects2 жыл бұрын
Hey. It's a Haynes manual. It actually covers the Rebel and another 250 too. All the same bike with minor changes.

So I’ve pulled my Benly apart and was hoping you were going to tell me how to get it going again. You’ve moved on, probably because you have too many project. Am I going to have to go it alone?
@TooManyProjects2 жыл бұрын
Haha. I'm working through a few issues with the Benly, but I promise it hasn't defeated me yet. If you look closely, you might even catch some parts in the background.

Those bikes had an overly complicated, expensive airfilter. The Superdreams were horrible but they at least had a washable filter.

Hi there where did you get the carb manifold gasket

It was just a carb service kit off eBay. If you ever have any trouble finding carb spares though, I recommend calling NRP Carbs. They're very knowledgeable.
