Thanks for sticking with us all this time! We should be able to start making videos a bit more frequently now, and even get some work done on the neglected MR2

So weird I should stumble apon this video today. I’ve been doing a CB500 1996 scrambler build and took it for first test run today, all I’ve left todo is rear seat and lights. I wasn’t lucky enough to have a engine Jack and had to lift it out by myself. Good luck! Will be following the build. PS. My engine had markings like that so probably just a factory check thing maybe, also only engine repairs I had to make was on loose springs on the clutch basket, common issues (functional ok but can be noise) might be worth checking 👍

Awesome. The cb500 twins don’t seem to be a very popular choice for these kind of builds, love to see how yours turns out. Thanks for letting us know about the engine markings, and we’ll definitely check the clutch springs 👍

Engines and Unfinished Business il take a video and post you the link hopefully next week....as after my excitement of it first ride I’ve found the engine bogging down on idle up to 4K revs and dying out, so I’ve have to pull the carbs out again so it’s currently looking in a sorry state haha. 👍👍

Removed my cb500 engine 6 months ago for a respray, also had trouble with the front engine mount and mine had the markings on the rear of the engine. 👍👍

Thanks for the comment 😊 Seems that bolt causes trouble for everyone, how did you get yours out in the end? You’re the second person to say about the markings on their engine as well, so they must be factory. Good to know it’s the original engine 👍

@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness Mine also has similar markings on the rear of the engine.

I think we’ve all had to figure out alternate ways to remove a front sprocket after taking the chain of the rear... always fun figuring out a new plan 😬

That bolt is notourius. Fought us hard too. Eventually cut it off and drilled it out. Took us a loooooooong time.
@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness4 жыл бұрын
Ah, that’s not surprising considering the bolt’s position on the bike. Wondering what we could do to stop the bolt getting stuck next time? Other than lots of antiseize

Thanks! Shouldn’t be too long, had a bit of a break over Christmas and now year
Engine removal is not fun. I made the same mistake as you with the final drive sprocket.... Oops.

Did you also snap the tip off a screwdriver and send shrapnel flying when you tried to remove it though 😂
@CortinasAndClassics4 жыл бұрын
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness no I didn't have the foggiest how to remove the sprocket so that will be happening soon just as you did with the bolts. 🙂
