This is a very nice installation video! It's really nice that you offer the complete package: crash bars (superior and inferior) and the skid plate! Could you also do a demo video, where you lie down the bike on both sides (just statically, not with the bike moving), just to see how what are the contact points with the ground, with the crash bars installed? One hesitation I have with these crash bars is that, on the lower side, they don't cross over the middle of the lateral engine cases to protect them in case there is a rock where the bike falls.

I have mounted mine just today, 2020 model. Unfortunately, there is one issue with it. If you move the shift lever higher (to use a touring boot), the crash bar will interfere with the shift rod, so much so that it will actually cause it to bed. You can see at 11:14 or 11:23, there is not a lot of clearance. Will reach out to Outback Motortek as well.

Hi! At min 8:27, where you comment on the bolt that might have some alignment issues, is that bolt from the crash bars kit or from the stock bike? I lost mine a couple of days ago and the official Honda dealership where I get the work done on the bike doesn't know where to get it from. Thanks!

Monted mine today, perfect fit 👌🏼, but i'm concerned about the reuse of the 10mm OEM bolts on engine/frame : the crashbars adds ~5mm in thickness which are no longer on engine threads. I'm considering changing this bolts for longer ones. What do you think about that?
@Outbackmotortek Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. No one has reported any issues regarding the bolts and nuts, but feel free to install longer ones.
@jakubadamec3243 Жыл бұрын
Can anybody please advice? I have a crash frame for Honda 600 and the instructions suggest to use OEM original bolt that mounts engine to frame. Now the extra thickness of the crash frame pad will reduce the bolt length inside the engine thread. Is that an durability issue? I would use bolt with extra 5mm in length but I guess it would be hard to find in store.
@OlHoch7 ай бұрын
Yeap, I posted a similar comment below, Outback response does not seems to be concerned about this. But this missing 5mm represents about 33% of the screwed length (on the both 40mm M10), which is a LOT.

Has anyone found a solution to the gear shifter hitting the bars? At this point if I knew that was the case then I would've ordered a different brand. The website stating it can't be adjusted with the bars fitted makes it sound like you adjust it before fitting to where you want it. Not that you can't change gear at all once the bars are attached.
@Outbackmotortek2 жыл бұрын
The gear shifter is only an issue if it’s been adjusted to a different angle other than the OEM!
@dan979112 жыл бұрын
@Outback Motortek Adjusting the shifter angle from OEM isn't an odd or unexpected thing to do, especially when OEM on these is such a narrow space to get a boot in anyway. Surely this should have been considered and tolerances put in place or made clearer that if you have average sized shoes and need to adjust the shifter then you shouldn't purchase these crash bars?
@Outbackmotortek2 жыл бұрын
@@dan97911 it’s not odd to adjust the gear shifter’s angle, but there’s not enough room to gain more clearance. We could move the tubing closer to the engine, but should the impact be significant during a crash, the tubing could crack the engine case.
@dan979112 жыл бұрын
@Outback Motortek Seeing as it's obviously not an isolated issue, is there an after market product that could be provided and/or reccomended, or a sensible solution that doesn't require damaging parts by bending things, to customers stuck in this situation?

On the right side of the bike it looks like the lower crash bar is almost even with the clutch cover. In this case, I don't know how much protection it can ofer to the clutch case. I would have liked to see images with the bike laid down on both sides to see what the contact points would be, at least on an even surface. In the end, that is why we buy these things, to protect the bike so, it would be nice to also see images of that.
