Traction control on my XMax saved me a few times. It's not about the power of the engine, it's more about road condition, so I would say all bikes should have it.
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 2 жыл бұрын
That’s great to hear. Yea sand and loose gravel would be something that requires the TC. No Michelin/Bridgestone can save us from that.

It's amazing in the first video of how fast traction control stands up a bike. I've never seen it in slow motion like that
@RUBBERNMETAL

I find it scary when it first kicked in my first instinct was thinking there was something wrong. Cos I was used to sliding on the monster. But yea it kicked in pretty instantly.
@vintagerealityvr
@vintagerealityvr 3 жыл бұрын
@@RUBBERNMETAL not even how fast it kicked in but just how fast it stood the bike upright! The times the HSTC kicks in on mine is the same experience - 1 accelerating too hard on slippery/wet surfaces and 2 accelerating too hard when turning from a stop (like taking a right hand turn off after a red light). I like how they tuned the traction control, it really only kicks in if it's supposed to. ✌️

Thanks bro! I’m buying this bike and I wasn’t sure how effective the traction control would be. Looks like it can definitely save you from disaster. I wish the wheelie control was separate from the TC though.
@RUBBERNMETAL

Congrats on your bike again! Yea the traction control is not sophisticated as it only cuts you in abruptly but sometimes simple is good as it won’t go wrong. Wheelie control? Nah you don’t need it for this bike it won’t pull a wheelie unless you really mean it.

Yeah, first time it activated on mine it was quite scary. Its not very smooth because our bike is not ride by wire. That's why the quickshifter is up only, and why it doesnt have any cruise control. But in the 3000km i've done on mine it has saved me more than once. Some of the roundabouts where I live are very polished, and slippery. It also works nice when encountering debris like sand or gravel. In my opinion, every bike should have it. It has actually saved my ass more times than ABS has.
@RUBBERNMETAL

Hi there glad to hear your experience and how it has been useful for you. It’s not a sophisticated setup but it’s useful enough to save us from sticky situations glad to have it. I've put 20,000 km on my CB650R. Always disable Traction control. Rode on road, wet, rain, semi-off roads, track, never had problem. Sure, I slipped rear wheel a few times in deep lean cornering / U turns, but good delicate throttle hand saved me every time You should test ride a Trident 660 when it comes available later and compare
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think the bike would be difficult without traction control its not that powerful. The default setting is on so I don't bother touching it. Small slides are exciting sometimes I get you and yes I'll try and test the Trident once it arrives at our local dealers.

Hello, SG fella here. Got my license just before the lockdown. So I never got the chance to ride into msia. Just wanna know how do you prevent motorcycle theft in msia? SG too safe, our street smart not very high hahaha
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. No worries big bike theft is not an issue in Malaysia (happens but very rarely) thieves tend to go for the higher range kapcais. The thieves however love to steal brake calipers and brake pumps so the best is to avoid leaving bikes with brembo or high end brake equipment in dodgy areas. Your best deterrents in this case are alarmed caliper brake locks and caliper lock nuts.

I'm getting this bike as a new rider, so turning it on it's safer and better?
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, even as an experienced rider, I'd leave it on (it's on by default everytime you turn on the bike). Its additional safety and doesn't intrude you unless you plan to do silly things like wheelies and slides.

I’m not too sure. I plan to replace the stock tires with Bridgestone s22 soon and I think I’ll be leaving the traction control on probably for the best. If you’re skilful enough to ride it on the edge of the grip limit and slide then you can turn it off but I’m not at that level yet.

It has a cable throttle, so the only real way to implement traction control is either cutting the fuel or cutting the ignition. Can't make that smooth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'll take that over electronic throttle though

Yea I love the fact that there’s only 1 power mode and that means you know the real bike rather than adjust to some modes. Can’t complain too much about the traction control it has got me out of trouble a few times.
@233kosta
@233kosta Жыл бұрын
@@RUBBERNMETAL I like the idea of a tunable throttle responce in principle, but the trouble is once you add compute cycles to the process you just add latency. A cable throttle, sensitive though it may be, is immediate. It's like your right hand is directly connected to the seat. It's direct and precise, and it allows you to get very precise. You just don't get that with electronic setups ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
